  1. Awesome finish! Very unsuspecting that this car could leave the junkyard under its own power, let alone be seen flying down the highway at high speeds! ??? Great Photography too!
  2. ?Congratulations to all the Cannonballers! Cheers to another successful year... There are some really stand alone models. I'm proud of all the builds! Thanks to all you guys, who without your support and dedication this wouldn't be possible! Please continue on with your Cannonball Ruse unfinished builds. I/we would love to see em... And join the 2022 Cannonball Run Birth year Community Build coming soon! See you then! ?
  3. The Body... the Engine...the Interior... all matches perfectly! Really taking it to the limit! This is Awesome Snake! Way to finish strong! Love the Name! Love the story! Love the inspiration! And if you are willing to share how you painted the white on the Belly of the Beast, I'm all ears and taking notes, my man!
  4. ? Thanks everyone! I'm gonna build another one in the future!
  5. Inspired by this year's Cannonball Run theme, I built "Aunt Linda's" Matador as a disguised Race car. It's mostly built box stock with the exception of wheels & tires, seats, and LS parts from a CR Corvette. It's painted Rose Gold metallic with a saddle vinyl top. I added chrome trim to give it an original appearance. Running lights and license plates complete the "Ruse' factor. Is it just me, or do others, after they finish a kit, want to build another copy of the same kit? ??? thanks for looking!
  6. It's the little details that make a model perfect. That's a cool build and I don't think I ever seen another build in this subject. What an original idea you had there Pat. It's one of my favorites from the CBR. I still wanna see the Hunter Dodge get built though ?
  7. Now you're talking! I wanna do something A-typical like this. Yeah, I understand but honestly we have a good selection of subjects because of the muscle car era. I've been studying AMC and some foreign options to transform into a muscle car.? We do allow 1:24th scale and 1:20th (if you must build that scale)but 1:25th scale seems to be the go-to... I started building models in the 80's and mostly 1/24th scale was what I built so from a nostalgic standpoint I still like building them. Monogram 1:24th kits are simple and straightforward but build up nicely I think.
  8. I love that bodystyle of Studebaker... 53 would pass for a 54 easily. I wouldn't sweat the differences. I'm sure we're gonna see plenty of Chevys and why not? They are the most popular subjects. I'm trying to go a different route honestly. Still thinking it over... I'd like to have a Studebaker for an option. I'm gonna come up with something though. ?
  9. Hey fellows, I want to address the topic in question about exact year of birth. My thoughts are this... if you have a birth year that isn't inspiring to you or doesn't offer alot of options and you must build one year up (ex. 1955 Chevy if your YOB is 1954). Then I would make an exception in those extreme cases. However, I still encourage you to make the best of an unconventional situation. In the spirit of the YOB theme, why not work with what you have?... if you were born in 1959 and only one kit is available (ex. 59 Impala) then build that kit the best it's ever been built. You can turn out a great result with any kit. Even if it's not interesting to you, surely someone else will appreciate it. We're model builders, it's what we do. I've watched you guys build Awesome kits during my time on the forum so I know you all can build something from nothing. I can't stress enough that my personal goal is to get you all inspired to build for the CBR and whatever it takes to motivate Everyone I'm here for ya! ??? I appreciate the feedback and participation and I really want to accommodate all builders. I'm not here to complicate the matter. I will likely bend rules on a theme but I will try to keep all the original CBR rules in place. The Heart of the Cannonball Run Community Build was always to get folks building models! Thanks for the support, your opinions are invaluable to me!?
  10. I was starting to wish I was born in 70. Probably more options for that year than any? I hope you find something to inspire ya... I still haven't exactly found my build...
  11. Awesome finish! Very convincing patina... I built that Mattador just for fun. The Bobby Alison AMC (your original entry). At first it seemed to be a simple kit but it has several issues that you couldn't ignore. I know why you decided on the Vette instead. I didn't do near the modifications you had planned but even out of the box it was a challenge. Thanks for the inspiration, See you in the Next Cannonball!
  12. You're good... 1. The build can be either a new or started kit up to 25% complete. A re-builder or parts box special is okay too. 1/24 or 1/25. If you absolutely must do a 1/20 model we’ll likely bend the rules as we have before, but that’s the limit.
  13. Can be up to 25% started per the original rules in the CBR so that does qualify! Looks like a great project, if you need any of those missing parts let me know, I have a bunch of slot car leftovers from that kit!
  14. Good question... No restrictions, Just your birth year or as close as possible. No limits on power supply or suspension. Do what you want with a bodystyle from the year you were born... that will give everyone a fighting chance hopefully. ?
  15. Thanks, yeah my presentations are a combination of illustrations and internet image manipulation. ? I'm working on ideas for the next CBR now. I'm gearing up to pay tribute to all the Cannonballers in the next run. I think it will be a fun Run.
  16. To all those Cannonballers making the MaddDash to get to the starting line, Good luck! we're Cheering you on! ??????
  17. You're in Luck, 1968 is a good year! Awesome! That could be a dilemma, having so many options... although it seems like you won't have that problem, the Chevelle is an excellent choice. 1973 has a decent amount of kit choices for me. I haven't fully committed to my decision just yet. It's kinda been fun just researching what to build so I gotta shout out to Fat Brian for the suggestion... it's gonna be cool to see what shows up!
  18. Funny you should mention that, 1959-2000 would cover the Mini Cooper. The VW Beetle Bug was technically used until 2003 in basically it's unchanged format and from 1967 until 2003 it was made in Mexico. I had read the article years ago that Mexico made a deal with some other company in Argentina to continue to produce the Classic VW Beetle... so it was discontinued but only temporarily? I've forgotten the whole story but atleast til 2003 you could build a VW Bug... So, pretty much anyone who wants to build for the 2022 CBR should have that option lol https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/accidentally-like-a-martyr-2003-vw-beetle-ltima-edicin
  19. Great Plan! I had a feeling 70's cars were gonna be popular with the YOB theme. I'm really interested in seeing what more challenging Birth years (90's and millennium) will bring to the table. Model companies have the 60's 70's and 80's covered. I'm a 73 So I'm thinking a Camaro, Mustang, Monte Carlo, maybe a Chevy or Ford Truck... or a VW Beetle (re-imagined). I'm also thinking about turning something into a wagon that was never a wagon. I'm still brainstorming some ways of combining more than one of the proposed ideas into one build also. I still have awhile to come up with a plan... ? Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!
  20. Nice finish Pat... It reminds me of Camouflage. the camo paint scheme would definitely blend in where I'm from ? It's the best literal visual example of hiding in plain sight. I love it! Great outcome!
  21. The Matador is done, but what a Janky kit! I felt bad for the poor little guy... ? I'm sure if I would have taken the time to think about it more, I probably could've made some improvements on it, but I just rushed through to get it finished. It's all for fun and just my way to help motivate everyone here towards the end of the run!? I basically built it from the box save for the wheels and tires and LS parts on the engine, and the seats. I painted it Rose Gold Metallic with a saddle tan vinyl top... and added as much chrome as I could to make it look stock. Aunt Linda's little AMC is ready for the Cannonball!
  22. The Impala is Great, it looks like it was kitted like that! I love all the builds... I'm gonna have a tough vote. This has been my favorite Cannonball Run of all. Imagine pulling the lid off a box and being able to build any of these kits exactly like these were built? I think that would sell some models. Great work with all the builds in this CBR! I'm proud of all the projects and of all you guys too. Thanks for all the hard work and creativity making this such a successful run!
  23. No problem, welcome aboard. In the coming weeks I'll be posting the Official build thread for Next year's Cannonball Run. This will be the 15th annual Run and my third year hosting. I'll have a presentation with the rules and start date (January 1st 2022) and you'll be able to post updates and comments in that thread. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for your participation and interest.
  24. You sure would... that sounds like an interesting concept project...
  25. So the Revell 69 Camaro SS in a more accurate format combination is the 2N1 in which the website is referring to? I was reading on the "Facespot"... there was a racing/stock version coming out with a new hood, custom wheels, and decal sheet... with a new boxart, can anyone confirm this?
