The Official 2022 Cannonball Run Theme Voting Poll
disconovaman replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Well, I'm not sure what's going on with it. But I do know that it's not counting the extra votes. When I veiw the results it discredits the multiple votes. Perhaps I'll have to rely on Mike Lunajammer to conduct the poll for the CBR voting. I dont want anything to go wrong with voting on that. Is this how politicians feel when they have to recount? ? -
The Official 2022 Cannonball Run Theme Voting Poll

Ok, I'll see if I can fix it... I haven't had much experience with these on line surveys... Edit: OK, I think I have fixed the poll. Only one vote per response. I feel pretty confident with the website now. I hope we can get more activity in the coming weeks. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I appreciate it. -
The Official 2022 Cannonball Run Theme Voting Poll

One other thing I forgot to mention, The voting poll will close on November 28, 2021. That should be enough time to give everyone a chance to vote. Thanks Agian! -
Well folks, It's time to choose the theme for the next Cannonball Run Community Build. As Moderator of this event, it only seems fair to give all interested parties a say in what the Cannonball theme shall be... So I've narrowed down the most popular and or interesting themes that were submitted. We'll choose a theme from the top 5 choices. I've created a voting poll and I hope it works... It's my first time trying this... As always, I look forward to everyone's valued opinions, support and participation! See you all in the Next Cannonball! http://www.supersurvey.com/QJ7TZE7LU

Wow! This is a beautiful example. Nicely built. The color is perfect for the mid 70's. This issue is the revised/modified front grill Ventura for 1977-78. While it was still a Pontiac Ventura, MPC offered it three times, first a 75 (Green) then the 76 (blue) and then in 77 (burgundy/burnt orange) and then it was modified for the 77-78 Nova and again for 79. All those changes were made in a very short period of time, a total of five tooling modifications were made throughout the entire run of the GM X body by MPC. And we are left with the Squad Rod 79 Nova. If you look at the thickness differences between the Front fenders and doors It's easily noticeable. The fenders are thicker. I have copies of all the Pontiacs and multiples of the 75-79 Novas to compare. I agree, I speculate that the Ventura became the Nova right after MPC generated as many 77 (Grill change) Venturas as possible before killing the Ventura and replacing it with the Nova for 1977. For sure, we have seen this pattern by MPC before with other simular bodystyles and year models.

Hey Gang, I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that we are exactly one month away from the dead line! One month is still plenty of time to get those Awesome Racecar builds to the starting line!?? Thanks for your continued Participation and Support! I'm getting closer to finishing the InFusion... and I'm wrapping up the finishing touches on the Mattador too. ??The Impala is perfect... Great execution! nice work!?????? -

"132 and Bush, I've got him at gunpoint"... "182-174... I'm gonna site him for Impersonation"... ??? The police diecast came today and will be decommissioned for the sake of finishing "Project Maskkar" I'll be swiping the wheels and push bar and who knows? you might see the black and white agian. I got a plan... -
Yes sir, There is no question to weather or not the tooling dies are new... but the aforementioned comments are in question as to what company designed the tooling... Round II or AMT? I guess it's fair to give credit to both companies, AMT for the design and Round II for reproducing the tools for the original kit while slightly improving it in the process. I think it was a smart decision on Round Two's part to create separate 4 door tooling for the Supernatural car and keep the 2 door kit as an option for future releases. Because if Amt had done that with the Boss Nova then the Craftsman wagon could have continued on as an AMT kit.
-
Wow! I must be living in the Twilight Zone... it was my understanding that Round II made improvements to an existing promotional tooling... my definition of a "brand new" kit and yours is different. Sorry about that... Here is the discussion, in part from the Craftsman wagon thread... This is a re-tooled copy of the original Craftsman kit with some modest improvements. Round 2 is calling it Craftsman Plus. Updates include clear headlamps and clear red tail lamp lens that have been added along with a side view mirror. Kit style wheel covers, wheel backs and tires instead of the original promo style pieces. Glass is now two separate front and rear pieces. The front metal axle is replaced by pins. There's also a couple of optional interior accessories included and all new decal sheet with some "fun" commercial graphics and along with the instrument face and body scripts for those who prefer them over paint or foil. The box is a tribute to the original packaging. The rest will be identical to the original Craftsman kit.
-
And you would be pretty wrong about that, here is the original annual first issued in the sixties. Round II used the original tools created by people from the sixties. Here's another fact, the original 67 Impala SS 427 was issued in the 90's... this is the kit Round II modified the tools for on the Supernatural release. So another completely different set of people designed that kit as well. ???

2022 Cannonball Group Build theme suggestion thread

I agree, while there are a bunch of Attention Grabbers in their long line-up, there are an equal amount of stock body castings to go about the Cannonball the way, in which we would typically build... that said, I would allow those who wish to build the Fantasy over the top customs providing it passes inspection: (headlights, brakelights, license plates). If the theme is Hot Wheels then we shouldn't limit what specifically can't be built. I would even ad a provincial rule that would allow even the Hot Wheels art on the packaging card could be built. Because some of those are different from the actual car in the package. -

AMT 1996 Z28 Camaro t-tops or convt? are good kits or those early 90's 1500 trucks were basically unchanged for a decade. I'm sure there are more options too. I'm from 73 so I would build a 70¹/² Camaro or the 007 Mustang. I could build a Square body Chevy truck. That's about it for me but there are options. -

Thanks Bill, the diecast I ordered just shipped yesterday so I'm hoping by Friday I can get the wheels and push bar on the Nascar and that will wrap it up. Thanks, the Impala is shaping up nicely as well... the working suspension is over the top! Awesome details! And I was thinking now that the Silverado is being replaced by the Supra. You don't have to limit yourself with paint schemes... I was thinking full racing livery on that truck would be cool. -
That's because it's not the same people ? The 63 Nova wagon was made by a completely different generation of people from the 60's ?

2022 Cannonball Group Build theme suggestion thread
disconovaman replied to Fat Brian's topic in Community Builds
Hey guys, Thanks for the interest and Thanks @Fat Brian for getting the ball rolling for the theme. I really appreciate the feedback and truly did want to have a poll for the 22 Run! It just seems fair and allows everyone who's potentially building for the run to have a say in it. I've been having fun building for the current run here lately and I'm excited about keeping the Cannonball Run Community Build going, if everyone is cool with that... I'd be happy to continue hosting the CBR. We'll get to vote for a theme from some really good ideas... And I think no matter what the theme will be, it will produce great builds as always... thanks agian for the continued support and participation! Happy Building! -

That's great, sometimes nothing will substitute your vision... I hope you can continue on... Another small update on the "Not So Nascar" I designed some door handle decals and custom US Government issued police tags and I've added some black Limo tint to hide the interior! I do realize the risk I'm taking here...If I get pulled over I'm quite sure I'm going to jail for impersonating a Police officer! ??? But until then Y'all better watch out because the Cannonball Run Police Force is on your tails! ??? I'm rolling along and it shouldn't be much longer before I'm ready to hit the road! -

Kind of a weird concept came to mind for another CBR theme... Your Best Ugliest It might be kinda vague and be out of left field but I think it would be interesting to see what everyone would consider the Ugliest make or model to you. It would be an opportunity to turn ugly into cool or vice-versa... take a popular bodystyle and make it the Ugliest car you would never drive. ??? Examples of ugly cars anyone? -

Is that a Jimmy Flintstone body?? That is unfortunate... Resin bodies are prone to warping if they aren't stored properly. I've seen some that were disfigured to the point you can't even identify what kind of car it was. I wrap rubber bands around mine and store them in a cool place. Just recently I bought two Chevy 4 door bodies. One of those was sitting on my desk as I was cleaning up the flashing. I noticed after a few days the driver side was starting to bow out. I put some rubber bands around it. The more I look at it, the top looks wavy and I don't know if it's worth using. Maybe you could use it as a rollover build, as a freshly crashed car up on a rollback. Add some weathering like it was turned over down a bank. Or you could build it as a rusted junkyard find. -

Thanks bud, it's about done...few more details left yet to do... I filled the mounting holes for the Nascar wing with the intent of excluding it, only because a factory stock Focus does not have one. Now the problem is... it may not draft exactly right at high speeds without it, bbuuuttt??? and those roof flaps keep the car grounded if it ever loses downward air force (that's my understanding) I filled those too, decided the car didn't need those either. ? I was about to ad the Nascar wing to the Matador before I painted it but ultimately I didn't want to disrupt the overall originality of how the original car looked. This is just my observation and interpretation of the Race Cars in disguise theme. As I write this post I have an idea I'll share later. This may or may not solve the drafting problems caused by not having a wing... so thanks for the impromptu brainstorming. ? -

Time for another update on the... "Uh-Oh,Gotta Go,it's the Po-Po" Nascar turned unmarked Police unit... Gotta say, I'm really hot and cold on this build but despite the lack of interest I'm really excited about how it's coming along... I'm really making some great progress... I'm leaning towards the Hot side at the moment! ? I sorted through all my late model Ford engine parts (Coyote, Cobra 4.6, 5.0 GT etc...etc...) ,only to find that the best option was to go with a HELLCAT! Hemi power for all those Mopar guys! I gave it a 4 door appearance and added window trim... Next I'll black out the side windows, so you won't see the rollcage. Pretty much completed all the chassis work with paint and details. All that... and I'm working effortlessly on that Matador too! Stay tuned for the Big Reveal on "Aunt Linda's AMC turned Cross County Cannonballer" More Later... -
