  1. Yes... Thanks, those are great ideas. I'm gonna black out the windows, add spotlights, Washington DC licenses plates, and all the fancy trim to disguise the race car although it will still have the stance of a Nascar, at first glance it will appear as an unmarked police unit. I'm actually working on the Matador now, this kit is pretty Awesome for those who have turned their backs on it like I have... I recommend it!
  2. Those are good options, I've seen real police cars with the "Honeycomb" style grill like a Shelby... I do like that better than the tube bar grill but at this point I'd be taking one step forward and two steps back with the build. I could do way more to improve, and give it more realistic details. At that rate I'd never get it finished and to tell truth I've lost interest in it and I'm ready to move on to the Matador. I'm gonna buy a diecast for the wheels and also the push bar. Hopefully that will fill the void with all the inaccuracies.?
  3. ??? They'll be on there... in the form of Spot lights, fog lights, and flashers... mounted on the push bar... that's the plan?
  4. Yes sir, I plan on adding door line decals to give it the 4 door appearance with door handles and window moldings too. Earlier on I moved the B-piller forward to make room for the back door window and it really does look more like a 4 door with the panel lines. Here is a picture of the body before I made the corrections for comparison...
  5. I couldn't resist... been waiting to do this for awhile! I was gonna scan and print actual decal copies... but I just said it'll fly with stickers... yeah that's right, I said stickers on a model car fourm! ??? I'll bury em in clear and that's gonna be good enough!
  6. I'm starting to think Tectonic Pearl isn't so boring after all... and these wheels are from an SRT, they are the biggest diameter I have to fill up the wheelwells on the Nascar body... I'd like to find some police issue steel wheels but for now these will do. There are some diecast cars with the correct wheels that I'm gonna get serious and find eventually.
  7. Wow! that chart makes me think Americans are boring people... ??? I bought a brand new car in 2018... Sedona Sunrise (Orange) ? I bought a used truck at the beginning of the Summer, it's Sienna Red! I do own a silver car but only because it's 45 years old and in original condition with 30k actual miles.
  8. I think every modelbuilder ever has made up stories while building up their kits ? We're all Storytellers. Shot some Color on today... if you can call it that... kinda plain... Got a lot of hiding to do!
  9. Snowballing already! ? I totally understand! The more I do, the more I want to do! I'm thinking about door handles and marker lights... I was pondering on scribing panel lines and initially I was gonna two tone the doors. I felt that would be enough contrast so it wouldn't be necessary. Now that it's gonna be a solid color It will need those door seems. I have a plan to use decals for the door panel lines. It won't disturb the Nascar body and I think it's an easier solution. The door handles and marker lights will be decals also. I'm leaning towards a lighter color... in the gold, silver, or bronze family...like the unmarked car pictured, or like this S10 I'm still working on to be exact...
  10. I agree... the responsible act would be to keep in line with the "Incognito" theme. So I'll ditch the police uniform for a blend in "plain brown wrapper" disguise. I still plan on low key details such as front mounted bumper guards and a spotlight. I've sprayed a coat of Tamiya white primer over my body work and I'm pretty happy at the results so far... now to pick a color and start preparing for the next step. On a side note, I've been off thinking about another Racecar in disguise project because there's been a wave of inspiration blowing through the "Looney Bin" lately... And Dad-gummit, Matt Amodio, the Reigning Jeperody Champ (38wins) got defeated last night... That was my inspiration for everything and I wanna keep it going so I'm gonna have this MATT-ADOR finished up by the end of the Challenge too... here goes!
  11. I'm in fabrication mode today, still working on the body but I've been doing alot of Brainstorming... I keep goin back and forth on what to do for the look of my Police crusier... Unmarked car or Full Police Uniform? The Unmarked look seems kinda boring but would be unsuspecting... The Police car with all the bells and whistles would be cool and allow for more details but it would be suspicious seeing a generic police car flying from state to state... I'm thinking ?
  12. Wow! this is an Excellent Pro-street example! I have a feeling we might see more done like this whenever they get released agian. The decals on the new re-issue are perfect for a 80's Pro-steeter... I'm enjoying the progess on this one in the meantime...
  13. The "Psycho-Billy Cadillac" would be a project, wouldn't it? You'd have to start in 49 and find parts all the way up to the 70's. I would try the Hot Wheels theme with a twist ? instead of an actual production car I'd go for a fantasy Hot Wheels... I built a phantom Hot Wheels "What if?" version a few years ago in 1:25th scale. I had alot of fun with it. It was inspired by the question of Why hasn't any toy company ever made a 1:64th Disco Nova? Last year Matchbox finally answered that question with a pretty decent example. I was glad to see finally... only took 45 years.
  14. Aside from chasing boring bodywork I've been making some good progress. I've mounted some mirrors that I'm quite happy with. They work pretty well. One thing I wasn't happy about was the lack of an engine in the snap together kit. Had I realized that, I probably would not have cut the hood open. I was just working too fast in the beginning I guess. So I'm gonna use an engine from the Revell Mustang Cobra. I'm not sure exactly what it is, maybe some of you Mustang guys can educate me... is it an intake mounted Supercharger? Also, I've decided to mount some more comfortable seats for the trip out west...I'm really starting to exercise my brain here with this build now.
  15. My original Salt Shaker first owned and built by my uncle in the late 70's then my cousin (his son) got a hold of it and hot knifed the doors and trunk off it???... I got it about 25 years later but I didn't have any interest in restoring it, also a fellow club member really liked it so I passed it along to him. Glad it's coming back!
  16. Love the Chevelle! I've always wanted a good version of this bodystyle to be available from a model company... I think this one is missing from our hobby!
  17. I remember now how excited I was for this CBR... the cop car is back on the bench! I had to open just about every box but I found everything I need so I'm gonna power through and finish it up.
  18. What's the fascination with Sweeds and Ratty, Junky American cars? Is that a movement in Sweden? Also YouTube pulled that video you posted earlier... What song are you referring to? I'm definitely interested in car culture in different parts of the world.
  19. Yes Pat! This build was what started the conversation about the Cars in Songs topic over on the build thread. Thanks for posting it. Been a huge Croce fan all my life. I've had the idea to build the Rapid Roy's 57 for many years. I would love to see what you come up with. The Cartoon version is Awesome... heck, I'd build the Rig from "Speedball Tucker" too!
  20. The Cars from Songs Theme would really allow you to use your imagination. As long as you build the car mentioned in the song the creative freedom is yours. You definitely have free range of choices. Maybe that 69 Chevy Bruce was singing about had fuelie heads in the trunk.? Why not a 57 Chevy with a 429? I could imagine how much fun a Boss 9 would be with a 4 speed in a 57 Chevy! And the Mustang angle could literally be any Mustang... I just thought of another song... Brad Paisley "Mr. Policeman"
  21. I went back and re-read the entire CBR 21 Build thread and I was refreshed of all the great projects that were announced. Somewhere buried in the pages was a suggestion for next year's Cannonball Run... "Cars from Songs" this theme may be more of a challenge to remember actual song lyrics than building an example of a car from the song but at the very least it will be thought provoking. ? I can think of alot of songs off the top of my head that I'd like to build for this theme.... Charlie Daniels "Uneasy Rider" "Who owns the car outside with the peace sign, mag wheels, and the four on the floor?" David Ball "Privite Malone" "When I pulled the cover off, it took away my breath, cause what she called a Chevy was a 66 Corvette". Allan Jackson "Drive" "Just an old half-ton Ford, three speed on the colum and a dent in the door" Just to name a few...?
  22. No Camaro in 2003... but simular Corvette and Mustang bodystyle kits would get you close... also I believe there is a 02/03 Ford F150 and a Chevy Silverado kit close to the 2003 bodystyle. My son was born January 03 and when he got his license I wanted him to have an 03 car or truck but he said "no way dad, that's too new for me" lol
  23. Sorry bout that... I do remember that now...I updated it for ya... the Wagon was gonna be a cool project. Bummer that the resin body warped. I'm having difficulty finding the rest of my Nascar I packed up all my models during renovation back in March and I haven't fully unpacked. If I don't find it soon I may have to abandon that project and start anew... To tell the truth, Ford Fusions aren't really that exciting to me. I probably should've picked something more interesting to me anyhow. I need to get motivated and take my own advice I guess.
  24. Yes on the build thread... you are welcome to build a curbside.
  25. I dunno Snake, I think 54 was a good year for cars. Although there aren't alot of kitted examples... Revell has that 54 Chevy Sedan and Panel, those would be a good ones to build. Model King released the sedan as a Gasser awhile back. Also the Mobious 54 Hudson Hornet is a good kit... That kit goes together really well. I would be in for both those ideas... Or?...Or? in honor of your last 3 Cannonball Runs, why not an official All Mustang Run? Build a mustang for the CBR I think that would be Awesome! Here are my suggestions... #1. Wagon Run: All Station wagons (in honor of The Grizwalds) #2. Rear/ Mid engine: (Self explanatory) although you could relocate the engine to the back of a 69 Dodge Charger if you so choose. (Ex.) or build a Ferrari ? #3. Four doors or more: Your Cannonball build must have atleast 4 doors (you can start with a 2 door though).? #4. Fat Brian's Mustang Ball as mentioned above. I challenge you to build the Mustang of your dreams! I'm not sure if there's ever been a specific "Make and Model" theme (someone correct me if I'm mistaken) but isn't now a great time to see a sea of Stallions galloping across the country in an open road race? ?
