  1. Yeah I agree, I can't focus on one at a time either... in the words of Pappy O'Daniel "We ain't one-at-a-timin' here. We're MASS communicating!' ? And is JunkNova the one I hope it is? And does it have a thread yet? ? I'm kinda on a delay at the moment, I'm remodeling my hobby room with new flooring, desk, and a new office chair. so hopefully I'll be set up in a month or so...
  2. Wow! just read all 4 pages of the WIP thread and I can see now there is way more here than meets eye... this build is really spectacular for one that seemed "at first glance" simple and straightforward! I'm impressed! Nice details on that interior. I'd drive cross country in that for sure!
  3. This is fantastic! I love the roof rack! I'm glad to see these little boogers still interests builders. I have two of these projects goin, one as the Little fire truck and the other is the mystery machine!
  4. I actually sent out a trophy plaque for Old Mopars as last year's winner just because I feel like we deserve something tangible for our efforts and I plan on doing that as long as I run the Cannonball.. If nothing else a thanks for participating and being the favor. Really sad to see you losing interest in the Matador, It's my favorite so far and I really thought the Nascar chassis was working well.
  5. Actually this is more common than you may think, It's one of the Rules at both the MDA and IPMS Contests. Last year I became a judge for the first time and we had to vote according to the one we liked to most.
  6. Fun fact: Paul Picard (head of developing at DOH) had originally decided on a 69 Camaro as the now infamous General Lee. That is, until he was sitting by the window at a coffee shop in Atlanta one day about a month before the show's greenlight and seen a 69 Dodge Charger ride by... he said "that's it"! And as they say, the rest is history! Also, another interesting fact is Aaron Spelling owned a pea green 69 Camaro convertible. He loved the car and wanted that to be the main car for Starsky & Hutch but he was too late. WB had already signed with Ford as a sponsor. So the Striped Tomato was born from a Torino instead. I only mention this because you are painting a 69 Camaro Red that looks orange lol It's like you are chanelling both shows with your Non General Lee Build!
  7. I love the history of this contest and I wondered if this rule was for that reason... I think it's a great rule because it allows you to build and enter your best or favorite Cannonball entry... I think I may build another for inspiration. I have a few ideas for this theme...
  8. Awesome build! Very Unsuspecting! Now you still have plenty of time to build the model kit behind the passenger seat I was referring to in my earlier comment Kurt ?... Please build this... ? I'm not sure if we ever had two builds or more in the history of the CBR? I'm feeling challenged right now...?
  9. Last month's club challenge was Camaros. So I built the AMT 70 Baldwin Motion Camaro. I turned it into a Z28 (with Motion parts) as an early 80's Highschool hotrod. I used to see cars like this on the road. I gave it Pa. licence plates too because those cars seemed to have taken the most abuse from the elements. I'm pleased with the end results this kit can be a challenge, the chassis and final assembly can be tricky. Thanks for looking, have a good day! ?
  10. Hey everyone, back for an update or more of a refresh rather. I'm gonna make this my highest priority when I get the remodel of the hobby room done. I'm working hard to replace the flooring, mostly just cosmetic stuff but I will be getting all new cabinets, desk and new chair also. Hopefully we'll have it done by the months end. Meanwhile I've got all my stuff packed up and I'm having withdrawals after only two days... So I grabbed these two off the top just to see what I could do. I'm working on the interior and engine bay details. More to come, it is still in it's infancy but I do have big plans...
  11. It's good to have a few extra set of eyes on something... my eyes aren't what they used to be... I'm a stickler for the Revell Camaro and the details, also having owned three 69 Camaros in real life... ya just know. Don't be too critical of yourself brother, it's just a hobby and if you let it get to ya, it becomes less enjoyable. I learned that lesson years ago. I can send you some replacements? ?
  12. Great box art build! It looks like a fun kit to build... Sometimes less is more and this is one of those times and very reminiscent of those early days of racing also...
  13. Very clean build Randal... These Revell Camaros are the most rewarding finished examples! For me, each one I see built up is like seeing the first one all over again... my favorite kit of all time. ?
  14. You think you'll have enough time to build that model kit? ? you and the co-pilot will have to getter done! I'm lovin the details! All the updates are very impressive guys, nice work going on!
  15. That looks fantastic! The Alclad really adds detail to that engine and the colors work great.
  16. Nice work, good idea with the opening as the trim... I didn't do that to any of the MPC kits I've turned into coupes... but I wish I had now ? I cut the entire hatchback frame out and added styrene strips for the trim, an extra step but I made it work... I like your idea better...?
  17. I will make good on that promise too, now all I have to do is win...? Nice alterations on those wheel openings too...truly necessary to house those big tires...?
  18. I agree with you for sure that AMT should've presented a box art that matched the contents inside the box. I believe that was the biggest consumer complaint with the kit. It was really False Advertisement on their part. Shortly after they did update the box to the purple car. AMT did market a stock nova but I doubt the tooling even still exists... I'm not sure what happened there? Also, for whatever reason they added those ugly yellow decals that were in the original Red Street Machines issue. The least they could've done was design a new decal sheet instead of that tired, boring one which by the way I've never seen used on anything. ? They could've come up with a decent decal sheet and box art, that really would've helped sell the kit. Little to no effort was made on it though, much like all things 4th Generation Novas sadly... In my experiences with this bodystyle the mainstream car culture has kicked it to the curb. There is barely anything that reminds you these cars even existed. Not even a Hot wheels and they've covered the market.? I would like to see Round II get the tools for it... add some deep-dish tourqe thrust wheels, pad printed tires, (blue or red) tinted glass, and an Awesome decal sheet that matches the weird body... yep that will do it...? Thanks and sorry for the ranting on...?
  19. This is gonna be Awesome! I'll be watching and although I agree with your introduction to the thread I'll be the first to admit that this kit is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine... it's a mangled train wreck but you're still amazed at the wreckage ? And honestly it builds up nicely...and if you close one eye and squint the other it looks perfect! So Rock on!
  20. Oh yeah, the Nova Rally replaced the Super Sport in 77 and the Z26 code carried over to the Nova Rally as well... I owned two 77s and 78 Nova Rally. It was still a Sport option just didn't have Nova and SS on the same car anymore... here is the 78 Rally I owned twice...lol
  21. Awesome Dennis, and a bonus that you found a good candidate on sale! Early work goin on with my Nascar Cop car... long road but I'll get there...
  22. Well I've desided to scratch build a complete chassis for the kit. I couldn't get anything to work to my liking so I'm trying to put a plan together... I'm telling ya MPC really came up short on this kit in some areas. The body has small issues, nothing you can't fix but the flat door panel tub interior is not ideal. The chassis is another fail on their part. The Pontiac 350/400 is a let down to for the factory stock builder specifically. Sorry I'm turning this into a review but it always baffled me why MPC wouldn't put the chevy V8 from say the MPC Monza... or something from their line up in the mid 70's. I swear if I ever win big in the lotto I promise to invest in a company to design an all new 76 Nova...I'd make sure it has lots of options too. One idea is to create bumpers that have both options with and without the impact strips. For 1976 GM roughly only made around 12,000 hatchbacks so I believe a trunk example would be a more realistic kit to market. Multi peice interior and separate front wheelwell's and sub frame would be important to me as well... How about a SS grill? Or an opening hatchback (if it has to be hatchback)... If I'm dreaming, I'd want it to have the Super Sport option with bucket & bench seat option separate 4speed console with gages... ??? Yep a 1976 SS 350 4speed Nova is definitely needed in the model world. I mean the car plays a significant role in automotive history due to fact that it's the last time Chevrolet put SS and Nova on the same car! So why not have a model kit to immortalize it...
  23. Nice work with that engine compartment. That is definitely an area that needs addressed. An improvement indeed... now that big block Pontiac looks more comfortable in there. You're definitely gonna have some giddy-up running a Pontiac big block with duel quad dominator carbs... I'm digging the work going on with this one... of course... I am a little biased ?
  24. Yeah, you have been away awhile? Please join us, won't you? You're up for a redemption...?
  25. That's gonna go well! Judging from the amount of work you've done already it's gonna be breezy!
