  1. Please do... I know that we all get busy and have limited time to devote ourselves outside of real life... But when the ball gets rollin these CBRs are a nice outlet for me. Your's and alot of member's builds were truly missed this year, but I hope everyone can rebound and come back next year, even stronger...
  2. Yeah but we know what happened the last time Jay Leno was in that car...???? All Great Ideas!
  3. ?? My gears are turning for ya! ?... I'd maybe figure out how to section the lower part of the Mustang body... (back front fender to the front quarters) about midway up where the indy car meets?... the top of the car would open like the old VW Sterling kit cars. I've got a feeling we're all gonna be helping out each other with this theme as we go long.
  4. I remember seeing the video from the Ford museum on YouTube...it is fascinating...
  5. Here's the thing though, I won't be encouraging anyone to re-body a Nascar... the challenge is to use an existing race car body, :example... modify and create a stock looking car from that original nascar kit. The original theme concept was to build a race car kit that doesn't look like a racecar...However, I'm not gonna limit the kit, nor I'm I about changing the Cannonball Run Rules... In the past, re-bodied kits or kit-bashed entries were allowed... so a re-bodied kit Will be allowed. In conclusion, as always (as long as I run the CBR) it will be up to each individual's "OPEN" interpretation on what they choose to build. As long as you participate and follow the blurred guidelines, that's what is important to me. For me personally, I would love to see that mini-van body on a Funnycar style working hinge and when you lift the van body up you see the Toyota as it appears on the box... but whatever you want to do is totally up to you and we will welcome it at the starting line! ?
  6. Jamie Blake: That's a good-looking piece! and cunningly disguised so it won't look like a racing car, you know. The cops would never give that a second glance! Jill Rivers: 220 miles an hour and they aren't gonna get a second glance! "They'd never expect the Mary Kay V6 Buick to run 180...So you're just gonna have to prove it to em"... "And you better have something under the hood that can catch it" ??? Definitely sounds like an instant classic Cannonball Run movie plot...
  7. We'd be glad to have you. Welcome aboard...I will have the official build thread up soon, announcing all the rules, list of competitors etc, etc... Those are perfect for the theme...would love to see these as street cars!
  8. Sweet little two-toned Chevy... The baby moons are a nice touch... It's a sleeper with the big block. ? This is one of my favorites from my childhood, I have more than a few copies of it... Good kit.
  9. Terrific builds and the Hemi Orange is a pretty color. Your photos really show off the metallic in the paint. Looks great on the car. I've built many GLs and I always use regular Testors Competition Orange, even though it's bright and probably not accurate, It's what I've always used so I just go with it...
  10. Wow! That is weird, I didn't think it was possible to vote more than one time... Gosh, how long would it take to vote that many times? ? They have more time on their hands than me.? I copied and pasted the poll on my other started threads in order to promote/advertize the CBR and get everyone who may not normally view the Community page to see the poll. I thought it was a good idea?... I know it took me awhile before I realized there were any other threads other than the Under Glass section...? I've only been a member since 2016... I think?
  11. Yeah... at this point I'm kinda just brain storming. I was thinking about the Monte Carlo too. I'm thinking a low key color maybe two-tone with vinyl top... Open the doors and trunk... Re-engineer the interior to hide the cage and allow for passengers... add some weathering, maybe tint the windows? ? update it with an LS/ 6 speed... I'll probably use as much as the original nascar kit as possible (just to challenge myself) I don't know? I'm gonna think about it awhile longer. ???
  12. Wow! that's a Beautiful modern COPO Camaro... the paint and details are perfect.
  13. It kinda looked like this one...
  14. I dig it... I was thinking about going with an 80's Style Nascar maybe, but who knows? Maybe I'll build a 70 Monte Carlo or a 60's Nascar... I remember back in the day Mary Kay Cosmetics would give their top salesperson of the year a new car. This lady in my town used to ride around in her "Mary Kay Pink" Buick Skylark 84-86 or so bodystyle, white interior and white half vinyl top. Wire spoke hubcaps and white wall tires.. It would be the ultimate disguise for the challenge, I think...
  15. The one in which the Vette is used in is the original. It stars David Carridene and his younger brother Robert (Revenge of the Nerds) also the driver of the Vette. I suppose it's worth watching. So I won't spoil it... It is less ridiculous and more raunchy (Characters die) than the Reynolds/Delouise comedy. I just watched it yesterday! I have watched all the movies related to the Cannonball this week, including Speed Zone with John Candy. I hear a remake is currently in the works.
  16. The vette would be a close copy to the 76 in The Cannonball movie...That car was literally brand new... And I feel the same way as you, I have an idea of what I'm leaning towards but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for something else, until I'm fully committed.
  17. ??? I would be too! if I actually had the kit in my hands! lol... like usual, I'll have to acquire the kit first... none of my 300+ will seem to work. ?
  18. Wow! those are some Awesome guitars! A quick reminder to everyone... I headed up the Cannonball Run Community build this year and I'm reaching out to you for support... I would really appreciate it (if you haven't done so Already) Please take a moment, Look over the builds, and Please vote for your favorite Cannonballer! We really do need everyone's support for the voting! THANK YOU FOR VOTING! we appreciate it! In memory of Van Halen... David Lee Roth singing ? "Everybody wants some!' ? "How bout you!"
  19. Thanks guys, I appreciate it! I'll be getting back to this soon ... I've picked the color (Grabber yellow) It has to be finished by March... I officiated this year's Cannonball Run Community build and the voting poll is up... I would really appreciate if you could take a moment, review the entries, and Please vote for your favorite Cannonballer build! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE SUPPORT!
  20. Hey Guys? Just a reminder... I acted as the moderator for the 2020 Cannonball Run Community build Challenge, I would really appreciate (If you haven't done so already), Please take a minute and Vote for your favorite Cannonballer. PLEASE Vote Thanks
  21. I just wanted to take a moment to recognize all the Cannonballers who show up each year and continuously dedicate themselves to building for the CBR. Without your support we couldn't make it happen. The levels of details and commitment is the driving force behind any Cannonball Run. You guys bring it on year after year! Congratulations and well done! And for the ones who throw a wrench in and mix it up every so often (I consider myself as one).. I challenge you to bring out your best for the next Cannonball! ? For the ones who couldn't make it to Dec 1st, I hope that you can finish those movie car projects in the near future... I would love to see all those get finished up. I'm REALLY Proud of all the contestants this year... Thanks to everyone for keeping it going! We had a very successful CBR 2020! With that said... I'm excited to announce the Great Cannonball Run of 2021! The 21' Cannonball Ruse! (Racecars in disguise) Once quoted by Willie Nelson (as Uncle Jesse) "I'll see ya on the other side!"
  22. You and me both ? I've been trying not to over think it, but it's all I've been thinking about. ? I wouldn't call my thoughts interesting though, more just trying to get my mind wrapped around it. ? I'm eager to start the Official build thread too. I hope to see ya at the starting line!
  23. That would be Greg Wann Mastercaster1... he's a member on here also his work is superb too! Thanks for the stories guys... seems I've jogged some memories and Inspired some builds here...?
  24. Funny you say that because there is an advertising campaign for these Novas that stated they're Z28s in disguise... ? Also the code for Super Sport is Z26 on the Novas. So almost a Z28...?
  25. Yeah you probably know that the 9c1 package had thicker sway bars, heavier sub frames, and quicker ratio steering boxes... so if it felt tighter, then it was probably a good difference than the civilian counterpart. Carl was this guy I worked with in the 90's and he was a security officer for a military base in the 70's. They had 9c1 Novas, he said the H.P. ratings were under rated and that the 9c1 engines actually had 295 H.P. Way more than a stock 350 rated a 185 H.P. He said those 4 door novas would lay some rubber ? Not by me...? I've loved this style ever since my brother traded his 73 Chevy Luv (400 SB, 2 speed glide) for a 75 Nova (307 4 speed)? As a Salesman, you were probably the best guy to say which cars were better than anything on the lot. I've read your comment on these Novas before. I know you speak highly of them... as do I. It's great to here from someone who knew how they were when the cars were new too. The closest I got to seeing one new was when I called about one for sale in 2006. This guy was selling his 9,000 original mile 75 Nova. The car had sat in storage for 25 years... It was pristine but way over priced (no return on investment) if I'd bought it, I wouldn't want to put miles on it. I did get to drive it though! ? My Concours had 26,000 original miles on it when I bought it now has 32,000, I've owned it for over five years now. Start a thread I'm interested in seeing it get built...?
