Yes, the Green Hornet movie car is stellar! From where it was to how good it looks in such a short period of time is impressive... Also it's one of the last ones announced so good job on that one... I guess we should see the thread picking up speed with the years end coming soon...It's been a rough ride in 2020...I can say for sure, I'll be glad to see it over. But the show must go on! Lets get in the Driver's... err... Model building seats? and finish this years CBR strong!

Great Choice! I'll add ya to the Roster...

This is gonna be a fun one to see get built...

Thanks, I'm guessing these kits were from a guy who either gave up the hobby or passed away and the build-ups didn't mean anything to the surviving family. There were about 40 build ups in a large tote and my buddy asked if I wanted some models (because he knew I like models) I said yeah... he brought them to me. The tote was in a pile of stuff (Possibly from his neighbor?) to go to the dump and my buddy opened it up and thought of me. They appear to have been built since probably the late 90's nothing newer than 98, nothing older than say 89 or 90.. Aside from an original General Lee with the 500 roofline. Only two unbuilt Nascar models, the rest were built. Lots of trucks... Ford trucks... A few Mustangs and some other kits from around 95 or so.

Thanks Friends? I appreciate that, although I can't take all the credit... This build is pretty special, now that I'm examining the unbuilt kit. He trimmed out scotch tape for the door jambs. Pretty creative ?... I took down one that I had opened years ago and didn't realize that I had actually started on this one myself... My memory is going away, need to eat more walnuts I guess....lol Anyways, I'm inspired to finish this one now although I have no idea what to do with it... ?

I agree, because of the "modern" tooling...Very well designed and ahead of the game for back in the day and still holds up with today's standards. I have a couple copies. I'm inspired to build one of my own now for sure. However, I won't be opening the doors on my build. Thanks everyone for the comments. Giving the fact that it looks like he put alot of effort in the car, he'd be proud to see it displayed on someone's shelf. It's a reminder to me of kits, when I was a kid, I'd see friends from school build... with the gloss brush paint and "preferred" color choices on the chassis. I know I'd get a Testors bottle paint kit every year at Christmas. I think it's a good representation of those style builds. I read alot of Hot Rod & Super Chevy magizines so I didn't necessarily use alot of different colors on my builds, rather trying to match the real cars in the photos. I discovered silver and black would make a nice "cast" color so my chassis were often black, silver, and a mix of the two. Anywho, Thanks agian for looking...

??? Yeah I understand that... The fact is we'll probably never know the truth. So why not throw in Hollywood's take on the story for pointless entertainment... I read the book Heist! about the 1997 Loomis Fargo robbery... I liked the story and the dumb criminals involved, very entertaining... the movie Masterminds was the Hollywood adaptation of that book. I liked the movie but it was far more comedic than the book. The book was dark and merly left me wondering how stupid that many people could be. ? Also I thought man, If you could've stumbled upon that abandoned Armor car with 2.5 million worth of fives, tens, and twenties... untraceable, as a third party, someone with no involvement in the crime, would've been rich... if you were smart. They didn't recover the truck for a week after the robbery. The general consensus! I concurr! ? It's almost unbelievable that these type of people exsist, if you've never associated yourself with them in real life... kinda like mythical characters.

I thought I'd share this with you folks. I took a break from cleaning and organizing yesterday when I found this box of build-ups I rescued from the landfill last year. The Mustang was pretty cool and although it had years of dust and nicotine, I thought I could clean it, So I soaped it up, took a toothbrush to it, added some new wheels and tires. and reassembled it. Here is the result... It's a BEAUTIFUL MESS! ? The original builder has opened the doors, used copper wire for the hinges, brush painted all the details. I think he put forth his best efforts so I thought it was worthy of saving...

I watched that documentary and like many, I was conflicted... I always try to find the victim, the villain, and the good guy... I struggled throughout to find the good guy or the victim. (other than the animals) It's a tragic tale of immoral, licentious human behavior, wasted youth, and back stabbing. It only proves how ruthless and vindictive human beings can be... I can't wait to see the movie! ? None of those people are fit to run a Zoo or any business for that matter (IMO). In a twist... I heard Carol Baskins finally ended up with ownership of the Zoo... She was qouted saying that she would close it down.

Watched a movie on Netflix last night called Safety Not Guaranteed. it was filmed in Washington state in 2012 with a $750,000 budget. It's an Independent film that made 4.4 million at the box office. It was well received and won many awards. I liked the movie although there's some loose ends that wasn't really resolved...but all in all I enjoyed it. The plot was inspired by a 1997 issue of Backwoods Home magizine's classified ad. It turned out to be a hoax. I like movies where truth meets fiction and fantasy tells the story. Much like all movies inspired by true events, unfortunately... The acting and dialog makes it worthy of watching.

A friend of ours did this depicting my brother and myself workin on the Nova... The inaccuracies are so funny... I always liked it...

?? Guitars in tune good and firm?... ?
disconovaman replied to disconovaman's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thanks. Those are some nice guitars! My brother, when he was in highschool...(in 1989) built a Gibson Explorer style guitar in wood shop. Each student had the opportunity to choose their own projects. He designed it like the Explorer... I always liked that design. Thanks... I've had a couple Harmonys myself... One of my favorite guitars, it wasn't as popular but I always like the sound of it... it's a 1965 Kay Electric Special... My Cousin still has it... Thanks again for the nice comments from everyone... -
I wanted to share my Rehab Bace Guitar Project that was left for junk in my brother's barn... I didn't even know the Off-Topic Lounge exsisted until a week ago. (I've been a member for about 5 years). This realization and inspiration by another member lead me to want this project finished so here it is hanging on my wall. I simply disassembled it, stripped it back to the original metalflake blue, (which was the toughest part). Trying to protect the original finsh took patience. I polished the wood grain, keys, and I touched up some battle scares with some Testors Sapphire blue, not a perfect match but I can live with it. I've included some before photos, Thanks for looking. Have a great day.? P.S. Now all I need is an amplifier and teach myself the theme to Seinfeild! ???

I didn't enter last year's CBR "Vannonball" I had a good project idea (66 Cab forward Chevy panel van) but I never could get it started so I never announced it. I think it would've been cool too. I do plan on building it some day... I did enter the 6cyl CBR and it was alot of fun. I really need to get some traction on my Camaro soon.

disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You inspired me to get this old base out and redo it... So thanks! ? here it is, it's kinda rough but oh well I'll do my best... My nephew was in a band in highschool and their colors were red and black so he took a perfectly good guitar apart and painted it this way... It was in my brother's building when he was moving, he was leaving it so it came home with me... I think I can get the paint off and polish it maybe touch it up here and there we'll see... -

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
First off, let me say I feel like I'm falling behind you guys with all this wonderful progress I'm seeing. Another Mustang with a great paint job. Reading is fundamental lol. I love the stories and particularly when they are written as well as you have here. And the guitar is fantastic! I have a blue electric guitar I need to redo it's red at the moment but I think the blue undeneith is in good condition. (Cromaclear) is at the top of my list of painting choices. The Dupont Chroma-base system is the best I've ever seen... What kit did they come with? They sure are detailed... -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Nice progress... I have a simular color from Boyd's... I wanna use... kinda reminds me of Honduras maroon chevy color... The Cragers are timeless huh? -
Oh that's cool, Revell able to improve on the old kit... I'm gonna build it eventually. I just finished this one back in March. It's the old molded in yellow 24th car from 91 ish... I like the simplicity of this kit...
-
That's great... I have an odd question for Revell though... If they already had a 69 mustang on the market... Why would they tool up another one? (yellow boxart) Which I beleive was an all new tool a few years ago. Don't get me wrong, I like that kit... I haven't built one yet but I do like it... It would've been easier to re-market the black one it seems...

disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Clearcoat is on, now all is left is cutting, polishing, and final assembly. I will be adding some decals at the end also... As an ancient philosopher once said... "Drive on" ? -
Oh ok. So this kit? and the 69... are there many differences? I went back and checked out the movie car and just now realized it has hood stripes and trunk! not sure about the top... Killer machine though lol

disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well I thought she deserved the Shelby treatment... err... well... uh... at least the stripes? They give it more of a muscle car vibe to me... I dunno? My plan was to do white lighting pearl stripes and I have a new can of it somewhere? I looked for it for 2 hours and gave up... Plain white it is... ? Anyways, I have to clean up some overspray here and there... then it's off to clearcoat! Rollin on a couple of Stangs tonight!
