Hey thanks guy's for the support. I'm still making daily progress despite how busy I've become latley. I built a blown small block with parts by bashing various kits. I used the Luv's small block, heads, and headers. The blower comes from the AMT 68 Camaro. I used the carbs from the Revell 69 Camaro. The breathers I borrowed from an AMT 70 Superbee... All the parts work together and I'm happy with the results. I drilled the heads for plug wires and heat stretched some yellow sprue to make wires... (An old school trick I learned when I was young). The idea is to have the engine exposed though the hood... Also I've found that by painting silver base on bodywork It helps to see sand scratches and uneven bodywork... so I sprayed some on the cab to see my work... Taking shape, I just need to start narrowing down the details. I'm determined not to stall out on this one...

Time for LUVin'! Retro Street Truck (OOB)
disconovaman replied to Faust's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The topper decals remind me of that scene in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind with Richard Dreyfuss. That's a classic UFO movie... The new decals are in Nostalgic in that same theme also and the New Mexico connection was Genius. The design teams these model companies have are the best... -
Monogram Chevy Luv Coming soon

I'm working on getting the wheel wells filled in and bodywork finished. Here is my "Show my work" thread I started... -
Very innovative... When running from the law this would be a good feature to have... I'm still trying to figure out the science behind the black to white paint deiquse. I love the black but the white was just as stealth (IMO)?

Monogram Chevy Luv Coming soon
disconovaman replied to disconovaman's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Years ago I seen one with a Buick GN V6 engine. Monogram's 80's issue is 24th scale so it should be pretty to swap into the luv. Maybe? -
My brother had a 73 Luv in highschool, We built it with a 400 Small block, a power glide, (from a 68 Camaro),456 posi rear gears. We also used those same 68 Camaro bucket seats and the two speed console. We painted it dark metallic blue and added black and silver stripes and he spang for some Gold/Chrome modular II wheels... They cost a whopping 48 bucks each! (14x6 on the front and 14x8 on the back.) He didn't keep it long, even though gas was cheap back in the 80's he couldn't drive it anywhere without stopping to fill up. lol. So he traded it for a 307 powered 4 speed 75 Nova with 308 gears. I'm planning on building this kinda like his but with a better budget. We were kids in school with two jobs but we searched the junkyards and found the deals whenever we could... Here is a pic of the wheels he had on the truck...

I figured I'd start a "Showhow" on the newly re-released Chevy Luv... Straight out the box, I chopped off the flares and the front airdam/half spoiler thing... and opened up the lower valance. Still working on the front wheel openings... (I like the factory look better) It's early but I couldn't resist a quick mock up for a few pics... I also got rid of the bench seat to make room for some 67 Camaro seats and console... I'm feeling good about this kit, there was alot of chatter regarding the ins and outs but I think it's gonna be a fun build...

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I seen it with these wheels and tires at Cars and Coffee but I like the wide white walls better... He had those same wheels and tires on it when he brought it back to Virginia a few years ago... I think they were filming an episode of Burn Notice in that photo... ? Richard says that the Vette is really famous where he lives in Hawaii... He said girls will come up to it on the street and take photos with it... Nice to know... It's tough to keep up with all the Vette models that have been produced. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Thanks... Yeah, that would be great... I'm gonna have to convert the Revell 62...I guess? Unless I can find an old annual... It's Funny how Richard's Vette can transform from film to film... He has the wide whites on it usually but I've seen it with Cragers and black walls as well as stock wheels. One time the film company actually added a Red vinyl wrap to the side coves. definitely is a restomod it has electronic fuel injection and other preformance goodies... -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Awesome work... as usual you never disappoint! I'm sure the owner would be proud... Just think the real Vette is probably tucked away in some garage waiting to be found... or maybe she was restored back to factory specs... I have a bud who still owns his 61 Vette from his youth... He lives in Hawaii but he owns a house in Virginia. He ships the car here every March when he comes in for vacation lol... His Vette has been in movies filmed in Hawaii and even Howard Hues used it in the brochures for his chain of Hotels in Honolulu... Nice car... I think I'm gonna have to build it now. -
Wow that's a nice start... Ole Melanie's got some arms on her lol...

Monogram Chevy Luv Coming soon

That's really good to hear... Revell kits are among my favorites... I knew they would send a replacement, but that was quick... What's your thoughts on the quality of plastic? I worked on the interior tub getting the bench seat out today... It definitely has a different feel to me... -
Monogram Chevy Luv Coming soon
disconovaman replied to disconovaman's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Got mine and both were intact with no real issues... My only complaint would be the plastic is not as workable as other Revell kits. The plastic kinda reminds me of old monogram kits... I took my dremal to those dumb fender flares straight out the box. I'll add some styrene strips and some filler to create stock wheelwell openings. That's an easy fix, I'm gonna refigure the bench seat interior for 1st gen camaro buckets and console, since I know these seats fit the truck peferectly in real life... While I was at it I lopped off the tabs for the side pipes too. My build will include modern chevy valve covers and intake, 67 Camaro seats and console, reworked body, and literally any wheels other than what is provided lol! Time to show some Luv to the Luv! ? -

I think both years had some sort of trim... 68 more common than 69 though. I like the 300 Deluxe, I had a chance to buy one a few years ago... should've bought it, 68/69 Post Chevelles are pretty rare... -

The Camaro turned out sweet... That would make a great "Baldwin Chevrolet" delevery diorama maybe build a 67 or 68 COE flatbed for hauling... At first I was dissappointed at the announcement of the Revell 69 Chevelle... I guess in order speed up the release they decided to use the existing 68 body without the vinyl top... I had heard awhile back that the 69 would be vinyl top for the option to swap bodies... I know the top was added to the 68 and it turned out great but It would've been much easier to have that body to swap. I guess, where's the fun in that though right? ? -
"determination to suceed" the Gumball Cobra is Super! I'm making slow progress on the BOD Camaro. I sprayed my interior red like the movie car... The Camaro doesn't have alot of screen time... But you can see the red interior for sure. I think black reallly pops with red interior... "Monique? what are you doing to my Camaro?" ?
