  1. Good progress guys! I'm dragging my feet as usual... I'm actually still trying to track down the other version of the 67 Camaro Revell kit for the Hood, grill, and other parts that the kit I have doesn't have... Hope to find it this weekend at the MDA show. I have been busy at other projects one of which was a memorial build and I'm happy with how it's turning out. I also need to update the Roster at this time...
  2. Yeah, the photo is from before. I don't think he took any photos with the straight axel because it was crashed during early testing... I guess it was just to hard to handle with the combination, that 409 was big horsepower for 63,64,65... It must've been a hand full with the straight axel. Anyways, the story is on YouTube if you search "Buried 55 Chevy"
  3. There was a drag racer back in the early sixties named Don Roberts and he raced a two-tone green 55 Chevy post... Nothing special about it other than it had a stout, over the counter 409 race engine in it... It looked pretty stock other than a homemade hood scoop. As the story goes, Don had a feller named Jim Smith install a straight axel for him and while testing the car on the street, he wrecked it. According to history the car was totaled and it was stripped shortly afterwards and the remains were buried in Don's backyard in 1965... I'm building this car as if it hadn't been wrecked that fateful day... In 2018 the car was partially dug up but there wasn't much left of it. It's a great story, I just wish it had a better ending. Here is a photo of the car before it was destroyed...
  4. I was thinking about you when I dug this out on Tuesday. It started as a Revell ragtop, I harvested a Black widow Post top for the first ever Revell 55 Chevy 2 door sedan (at least that I know of lol). It wouldn't take much to turn it into a JT Special... Tilt front and radius the wheelwells, I've got a Gasser build in mind myself...
  5. Not too late, You're in! That is an Awesome project and we already know the Vette will make it from Cali to Vegas and back Lol!
  6. The dent is spot on... looks just like the movie car! nice job recreating it...
  7. I was told there was a mix up at the factory and some of the factory bodies were accidentally in place of the Baja Bodies... The error was corrected but not before some were shipped this error happened on the 57 Black widow car also, the 210 bodies were Belair bodys. I'll bet there were some angry folks when they got those kits?...
  8. This just reminded me that I need to jump on mine and finish it... not too much left for me, I just lost interest near the finish line. Neat little kit, I've got two more to build since I started this one... Photo for inspiration... not that you need it, Yours is coming along nicely ?
  9. Wow! to pull such an incredible build in what little time you built it in is outstanding! It's proof that modeling at high speed can pay off... I preform best with pressure and a peering timeframe... I'd have to say you do too?
  10. Yeah I believe he was meaning to post in the 2020 CBR Community builds. He's joined up over there with the Movie Car theme. That really turned out beautifully...
  11. Slot Car leftovers... But I'd say if you can, fix the problems with the box chassis and move forward... This way you don't get "buried" with it... I'd hit the Bay and see if any are available ?
  12. Yep... I'll add you to the Roster, Welcome aboard!
  13. Trust me, all that progress you're making is really encourageing me to get mine done... However, at the moment I'm focusing my time on a memorial build for this guy who passed last year, a very devoted member within our model community. So, I'm into that and I'm presenting the car at the end of February at the IPMS show... It's gotta be full detail with alot of scratch building... I had to sweep my bench to be able to finish it on time. It's been tough not to work on my other projects too...

  15. That engine looks like it's ready to hang on a cherry picker and be lowered between two fenders...? Nice details!
  16. Kaaren Lee (St.Elmo's Fire) as Jessie... pretty much never heard from again and Kate Vernon (still acting today)as Jessie's sister Melissa. Typical 80’s Movie story line...the main characters (the underdogs) take on a bunch of local bullies, get cheered on by the entire town, win the girl; Everyone lives happily ever after... Well... almost I'd never heard of it until It was on Turner Classic Movies the other night... I like 70's/ 80's movies for the cars before they were really old.
  17. This is Random but I figured I'd ask if anyone has seen this film since we're kinda on the topic. "Roadhouse" starring Willam Defoe & Judge Reinhold from 1984. It was filmed in 82 and redistributed with another title. It's been re-titled a few times "Two Guys & A Car","Highway 66" and "Roadhouse 66" Total car movie... it's on YouTube if anyone is interested, it has some cool cars in it too...
  18. That's 314 days technically ?
  19. So are you declaring the Charger as your entry? That looks great and if so, I'll add you to the Roster... I'm very proud to say that will make 30 builds on the Roster so far folks and that's a great amount of participants for this year's running... I hope to see em all at the finish line too!
  20. The best designers are the builders themselves... I used to hear my Vocational teacher (Auto body Tech) say "The people who make it don't use it". I think that's true but there was only so much you could do. The way technology is advancing, 3d printing and Model companies thoroughly researching the subject, the community would benefit from a new tool 69 Chevy truck. I've invisioned a modern tool of a 76 Nova SS for many years. I would mold it with optional bumper impact strips (which is an option on the real car). I would also mold the grill open and multi-peice Rally wheels (separate trim rings and centers). Anyways, that's my dream kit... This is a cool project for an Awesome Chevy Truck, looking forward to seeing it come together...
  21. The body vents came out nice and the doors too...
  22. I finally took the chance on drilling the column out once I got the brand new interior from a friend. I drilled it out from the back end and it actually turned out nice... I may used the new dash and interior tub just because it's unglued and fresh. The original tub was brush painted gray with red seats and I couldn't get the paint to budge.
  23. I have a set of these that were cast also... More than a few AMT/MPC kits came with these wheels so when I first seen them my question was why cast them? when they're really not that rare. It's cool that someone did cast them and I picked them up because they're not plated and it hit me that I could paint them black or maybe body color for a future project. I thought I would round up 4 Spiders from the back of the Monogram 69 Camaro. The 1/24th scale wheels on the Truck would give it more of an aggressive stance.
