  1. I haven't seen it posted on this thread, but a few years ago while production was still in Japan one of the tools was "accidentally" damaged for this kit. That is the reason it halted production. And in later news, I heard that the rest of the tooling was left behind after the Bankruptcy. I could be wrong about the whole story. So if anyone remembers the details about the history please share ? my mind is a bit foggy...
  2. For sure... And I think like many enthusiasts... Usually if you focus on one certain car (Mine is the 75-79 Nova) you will know that bodystyle and all the changes, although I don't see that happening in 50 years to say?... A Hyundai Alantra lol
  3. Were you asking about this one? because your guess is correct this is a Dodge 31 I believe...
  4. That is beautiful! I've been wanting to build something similar from an episode of some car show (that I don't remember) anyway, it was in the background in his back lot waiting to get built. I took a liking to it and decided to pause the TV, zoomed in on it, and snapped a picture of the shell. It would make a cool hot rod. The stripes remind me of yours...
  5. ??? that's unfortunate... Dad bought his in 72 still has it... 67 Camaro, it wasn't new it was factory black vinyl top already had a repaint and top was stripped off too. it was drag raced and had a posi trac 513 gear. A lady ended up with but traded it, she said "it was to hard to drive"? My brother and I just completed a full restoration on it back in 2017. Oh, and dad changed the gear (first thing he did) to a 323 posi... Here it is on the used car lot he bought it from.
  6. Wow! You took fun to a whole new level! Beautiful Camaro! Please tell me you still have it tucked away somewhere...
  7. Nice work on this clean movie car build... And the diorama looks good too. My anticipation is building with every update!? Nice work going on here on the James Taylor (Driver) Gasser as well!
  8. Good idea... I decided to put a thumbs up emoji on the finished projects just to keep track myself. I'm optimistic that we will have at least 90% of the cars entered, make it to the deadline, myself included...?

  10. Speechless! I'm just STARSTRUCK!!!
  11. Are you kidding!?! It's unbelievable that you pulled off such a great build in what little time you've had... I love it! Geez man, I've gotta get cracking! ? Everything about it is perfect! I'm mindwarped!
  12. Yeah, there are differences with the Hard top v/s the Sedan and the main one is the "Sweetheart dip" on the sedan is further back than both the hard & convertable. There is no way I could fix that problem due to the Belair trim being separate. That is the only difference between the model and a real 55 Belair sedan. I imagined if the two real 55 's were joined, this is what you would get. If I hadn't said anything about the top I wonder if anyone would've recognized the body difference? Also, the Hardtop has a gradual sweep on the quarters and the Sedan is straight across. My friend Eddie is a 55 Nut, he's has built many 55 Chevys. He found an original 4 door and converted it to a 2 door sedan, turned out great too. Thanks everyone for the nice comments...
  13. Hey, that duster sounds like a good one to do... I almost forgot that Polar lights got in on the action of pre-detailing too. I wished it would come back
  14. This really reminds me of what you would've seen on the shelf at my house in the 80's... I like convertibles and in case you roll over... you're safe! Please tell me you saved that top for another build though?... It's blurry, but I took this pic in 86... When I was 13...
  15. Thanks everyone... These types of builds are good slump busters. Another good way to get you out of a rutt is to pre-paint and pre-detail a kit with none to minimal gluing... Kinda like the idea that AMT had back in the early 2000's. For me, the challenge is the urge to want to get it built myself. If you can make it through til the end it will leave you wanting to actually build the next kit. I just did one in January. and I've built three kits since then. I will bag out the parts and organize them according to what parts fit together. ( Engine, suspension, interior etc...) And I sometimes have to add color codes to the parts for left or right and alter the directions... I usually give them away afterwards. Here is the Vette I did in January... I gave it to one of our club members to get him back building...
  16. Here is a simple, yet effective build to get me out of a rutt... Grab one of your color molded plastic kits from back in the day, polish the body using buffing pads and a fine scratch wax, paint the details, add a little BMF, and 2 days later you're back in action. This is the Monogram 70 boss Mustang in 1/24th scale... Thanks for looking...
  17. Here is the first Revell 55 Chevy Belair 2 door post...err... At least that I've seen lol... I built this using a Revell 55 Chevy convertible body and a 2 door sedan roof I harvested from the Revell 57 Chevy Black widow. Maybe the folks at Revell will consider issuing a 55 sedan in the future but until then, this will have to do... I hope it inspires you guys... It features an over the counter 409 with a 2 speed power glide transmission. I seen the story on Youtube about a drag racer in the 60's named Don Roberts and while testing his 55 with the new straight axel it was crashed and then eventually buried in his backyard. I wanted to build the car as if it hadn't been crashed... If you're interested, search Buried 55 Chevy on YouTube to see the full story. thanks for looking...
  18. Wow!!!! Beautiful build, the outside photos make it look real!
  19. Thanks everyone... The 57 was on display at the IPMS and MDA shows this year. Bob was a vender at both shows for many years. He always went to the flee markets and yard sales buying up all the built ups and starters, he would sell them at the shows. I bought and restored many of his finds. And I still have alot of stuff I bought from him over the past 10 years. He really had an eye for good junk lol... Anyways, I have a new appreciation for build ups and I'm gonna restore all his treasures now. Thanks again and have a good day.
  20. Thanks buddy... So imagine if you will that Ray Evernham is beating the backroads for an episode of Americarna and he happens to find this old 57 Chevy or what's left of one... He then researches the car and finds old pics and uncovers the history of this legendary local hero... so he decides to build a replica of the 57 with all new parts because the original car his not salvageable. That's the story I was telling myself as I was building my version of Bob's old car and I gotta say, I think he got the colors right on it ...?
  21. They are called "Wide Fives" and apparently the only place you can get them is from a guy who casts them complete with plating if you wish ... I got them from and an old collection they were in a treasure cove of all kinds of neat do-dads. I wondered myself so I asked around at the last swapmeet and show. I was told his name but it has slipped my mind, I'll have to ask again and get back to ya...
  22. Funny you said that! Joe Stogdale is the other half of the team... He's been long gone though. I never even had the chance to meet him... But yeah thanks and that's weird and ironic...
  23. Yes, the middle picture is what's left of the original car. Also what is interesting is by the time my friend Joel got the car it had changed hands a few times and the Heat Damage was done by someone else who had gotten the car later on. When Joel showed the car to Bob a few years ago we were able to confirm that it was his and he said it wasn't like that when he first built it. It would be hard to straighten out what was left and also I wouldn't want to undo all of that history from the original build either. His plan for it now is to get it back on wheels and put an engine in it, so it is somewhat complete.
  24. This 57 Chevy is a Memorial build for Bob Linkous... Bob built the original in the 70's... I was inspired by the build when many decades later it surfaced in a collection and my buddy ended up with it. When Bob passed last year I knew I wanted to build a replica of his original. Bob was a wealth of knowledge relating to the subject. A true old school modeler. Losing these old cats that knew modeling from it's infantsy is tough... So I wanted a build that would really speak to Bob's style... He built Dirt track cars alot. and since this was originally built by him it seemed like the perfect fit. I used a fresh Pepper Shaker and a Sorvino Chassis for the build. I designed the decals from this picture of the original. (I've never actually seen the original car in real life.) It's coming along nicely so far I still need to fab exhaust and order some aftermarket tires. I think I'm gonna build a hauler and a modeling series of Linkous & Stogdale inspired cars to add to the collection now. Thanks for looking
