Hey, I'm glad to see this one back on the bench... These projects can be quite challenging. I took on this one myself as a favor for one of our local club members... He got it from eBay so my bench was the third one it landed on.. lol. The OB meant well but It was even more of a challenge for me to correct all of the issues.

That's Right! Lol... I never thought of that!

Lol! ?? Isn't the Cannonball Run Race just a General invitation to Cheat? Let's see?... Speeding... Disobeying traffic lights... Evading... Whatever it takes to be the first one to the finish line! ? Now as far as our CBR goes, any "Blurred lines" that help your build be Awesome is gonna be what it takes get to the finish line! The Lexus engine in the Trans Am is a good example... ? Some Movie Cars are Just Perfect without the Twist... (The Lotus). For me, it came down to choosing the project that could benefit from a little help. The BOD Camaro is beautiful but what I've got in store is gonna put it over the top.

2019 GULF Challenge (model/diecast/hot wheels)
disconovaman replied to sure rock co models's topic in Community Builds
I love these two colors together... I've always wanted to build something with the Gulf Gas colors. The closest one I've built is this ole Gulf Gas service truck... -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
disconovaman replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Consider me for the first round BOYD of 2020. I sure hope this continues. I have a 3 years dead Chevy Stepside that I want to finish. as well as many others but this one is my first priority... -
That's a serious task to take on... I would've never thought the differences would require that much change. The level of dedication shows in your work already!

Those decals are nice. I have to admit I was team Decepticon when Barricade showed up.

That's terrible! I did not know that...But now that you mention it I see the clues. As popular as that style truck is you would think they would've saved those tools instead of modifying them. It's as if they didn't see the value for the future of the company. I don't get it either. It never occurred to me that the grill and bumper are molded together on the modified GMC Cab. The Stepside Chevy cab would've been the better option. I would think Mobious would get to work on a 69/70 Chevy but they seem to be on a Ford kick. How many versions of the 65/66 Ford do we need? Apparently all of them Lol... I got a feeling that someone high up over there loves Fords. it's all good, I'm not complaining, I wished someone would see the value in the those old Chevy's though.
-
That would be great ? If Round 2 ever gets the molds for this kit, I think it will sell. They'd probably get the short bed GMC or the 72 Cheyenne first though... I'd like to see the 88/89 Silverado get re-issued too. I won a model contest with one I built when it first came out. Always liked that kit. It hasn't been out for awhile that I know of. 30 years... It's due for a re-birth. Lol
-
Here is pretty much where I stopped on it. I wasn't happy with the decals, I wanted them to be more pink like the box and they turned out kinda too red. I was able to change the color to green, blue, and purple so I think pink is a possibility too... I'll have to get back to the printer and see if I can get those reprinted.
-
Wow! that is insperational! I had seen it in the Under glass section. It's hard to believe that was a rebuild. No doubt the Stepside will be Awesome too. I know that's true. every modeler I've met has a stalled project or two... This kit is on my wish list to be re-issued or a brand new tool from AMT or Revell of a 67-72 C10 would be nice too.
-
Ha! yeah that kit leaves alot to be desired but I still love the kit. I know you'll do good things to it... Maybe you could use some of the Revell S&TB TA drive train to make it better? Just a suggestion ? if I'm not mistaken it has those Spyder wheels that came on some Mpc kits. The Chevy Stepside pick up had them...? that's got me thinking of the stalled project I was working on almost 3 years ago. I think I'll dig that out in January and try to finish it...

I think 1/18th scale is what one of the videos that show rare RC cars. 10 inches long and 4.5 inches wide.

"Defender" was more interesting for sure. But a Red Viper is still a Red Viper lol... One of my favorite scenes from the F&F series is at the beginning of Tokyo Drift. It's Perfectly shot and the Kid Rock song with the rich kid with a Viper... It just seems fitting that they smash up a Red Viper. ?

Wow! This is Great! I just checked out the website for the company that built these cars in the 90's (8 in total) for the TV series. Unique Movie Cars Las Vegas. They've been in business for decades and have built lots of well known TV Stars including The A-Team Van, KITT from Knight Rider, and the Coyote from Hard Castle And McCormick. They even built the Dog Van for Dumb and Dumber...
-
I've seen a couple of these built but never in pre- "Zone 7" damage like in the photo above. I had the hots for Melanie (aka "E") after seeing this movie... ?Lol I just learned that the Cherry 2000 actress passed away quietly last year... RIP Pamela Gidley... no cause of death either... Nevertheless 52 is too young to go...??
-
Well, either way I think it's gonna be cool... Even if those 90's teenage punks didn't lol I was looking forward to seeing how you were gonna engineer that Shaker scoop onto an LS though.?

Just a TV series that made an otherwise unnoticed car famous... TV shows and Movies tend to do that oftentimes. As unpopular as sedans and 4 doors are, I respect a TV show that broke barriers and picked a "Hero" car that isn't the norm. It's refreshing to see and I hope it catches on. There are some good episodes that focus on the car and they're worth watching... the Car is the Star... The fact that a model company is willing to risk a new release with such a limited subject matter is testement to the show's sucsess. It's a win win for me because I like abnormal cars and ANY 4 door models and I'm greatful for Supernatural because if not for the show there wouldn't be a kit of a 67 Impala 4 Door hardtop now would there?

I've been a fan for over 10 years myself! I'm excited... it will be nice to see the build updates on the Vette... And all the builds are gonna be great to watch come together... Merry Christmas to everyone.
