  1. That would work... I guess you'd be voting for the builder rather that the kit built anyway. So, if say...we do have two General lee's then we'd be voting for the car we like the best? It might be hard to choose which one since I really like the General lee lol ?
  2. I had the best idea... I just couldn't find the time to start it. It's gonna be involved for sure... Revell's 65 suburban cab-forward panel van. I still plan on building it one day. My buddy has around 6,000 kits in his basement so I was gonna open the back doors and put scaled model boxes wall to wall in the back... with Joel's Mobile Model Car Service on the side... I still have that plan, sounds like fun? Now I just want to go back a year and enter the Vannonball Run! Dang it... Lol
  3. Thanks, that will be great... I hope we can pick a theme that will be inspiring and fun. I'm pulling for the Movie car theme myself but I want to consider the majority of the possible contestants because I don't want to minimize anyone's ideas.
  4. Hey folks, this is the Official "Casting Call" for all ideas on what the 2020 Cannonball Run theme will be... I nominated myself to run the 2020 CBR running for a couple of reasons #1 I really don't want it to end after such a successful long run we've had. #2 I'm disappointed in myself that I wasn't able to participate in the 2019 Vannonball Run. So as a redemption, I will not only enter but take on the Role of running the event as well. Thanks for passing the torch and giving me the chance to Oversee what I hope will be the biggest CBR yet. Thanks to Jantrix for the inspiration. I'll do my best to make you proud... ? So... Now on to choosing the theme! To make the best decision on the theme I encourage everyone interested in joining to submit their ideas and we'll pick the one who seems to be the most popular first. (in about a 10 days.) kind of a race within a race. Lol. I'll start with my ideas... Hopefully they will be vauge and just complicated enough to pull out a Great outcome... Thanks agian! #1 Movie,TV, & Film cars #2 Factory Phantom #3 Rear/Mid engine #4 Station Wagons #5 Rescue a Build-up
  5. That would be Awesome! I'm into the "Movie Cars" theme and if we all can agree, I'll get started on presentation so we can start picking our projects. One thing I would ask in the rules is that if a Racer declares a specific Movie subject, please don't choose the same one... (First come first serve) For example: the "Bandit Trans Am" one entry per race please. There are enough movie cars that we can all pick a different one. This will make it easier for voting at the end and be fair to the the participants. It will also be like each individual movie car showed up for the race... Starsky's Torino, Bo's Charger, Mavrick's Firebird or The Fall guys GMC.
  6. In this race your car and all of your equipment and modifications must be less than $2904. I like this idea as well... But if we were to do the movie car thing could we have it to where it must look like the movie it was from but be altered under the hood? This would make you competitive enough technically to win the race.
  7. I'd be onboard for this theme, just for the fact there would be a variety of kits to choose from during that time period. The mid 60's and prior are alot of what make up model car subjects. I haven't seen the movie yet so that would be the first order of business. Thanks, I'd be into anything we decide, really. I just want motivation this year and I can't think of anything to motivate me more than running the show, so to speak lol
  8. How would we go about choosing a theme? Should I start a thread and let every one interested vote and most votes gets it or just gauge interests and see if we can get it goin? I've read other similar topics and there are some good ones but I'm thinking of something fresh since it will potentially be my first one. I'm up for the challenge... Do I have to sit out or can I build for the challenge too? I'm good with writing it all up and posting the rules and but I'll have to get help with the poll and if it's ok I'll copy and paste some of the past presentations that I love about the CBR. The familiar subject matter that would get everyone else Jazzed up for it too. I would love to see it continue and I think I could devote the time to keeping it alive.
  9. I hope that someone will do a CBR for 2020. I'm really disappointed in myself that I couldn't get my Van entry rolling this year. I struggled with each passing month. No Excuses but I had a house for sale all year and with the Realtor showings, home repairs, and house hunting I barely had time to dedicate myself to any modeling. We finally did get settled in with the new house and the idea of me getting my model space set up to "Hailmary" a project across the finish line was just a preconceived notion that I had with my thoughts because I work best under pressure anyway. I just didn't feel like it was fair to the other Racers who have worked hard all year on their builds. So my decision to through in towel was easy in the end. With that said, as a way to make it up to myself, I would be interested in overseeing the 2020 CBR... But I have zero experience in doing so. I'm willing to learn as I go. Also I'd have to ask for tips and suggestions on a theme, polling, and presentation... I do plan on voting for my favorite finished build as always. I'll start with my idea(s) for a theme... "Movie car" CBR "Factory Phantom" CBR (any car or truck that wasn't a production vehicle Ex: GTO station wagon. SS Chevelle 4 door. Corvette truckster/Elcamino) anything that didn't exist but could've or should've. The "OG SUV" the Classic Station wagon CBR "Rear or mid engine" CBR (Factory rear/mid engine or can be converted... doesn't have to be factory)! Forgive me if any of these ideas have already been used. These are just a few I had to get the ball rolling... Thanks and just let me know if I can help out...
  10. That's funny! I should be saying the same with all my stuff right now! I can't get around to doing anything to mine... They're locked in a room until I get some "ransom money" and by that I mean "free time" because time is money around here. I'm just too busy with the house and getting set up... Ugh! but that hasn't stopped me from buying atleast... Great color choice BTW...
  11. I would get the 1.1 running and driving as is... it would be quite a story for the history of the car... some old vintage pics of the car in its "Hayday" would be cool too, just to see what wheels and tires were used. The model project is gonna be Awesome as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project.
  12. I think the Monogram Logo was put back on the box... as a marketing ploy for folks returning to the hobby who may not have known about the merger with Revell. The convertable was always a Revell kit. based on the Yenko and Baldwin Revell cars. I have to say though, If anyone could get the AMT/MPC Camaro to look good It's Snake... Well done, it still has the same problems but with the quality of the build you are able to overlook the flaws.
  13. I kinda like that color but the gold was the answer. I had a can of silver blue met. that sat in a byler barn for 3 or 4 years, I went to spray it and it was an exact match to frost green. I totally loved it! Ended up spraying an AMT Nova and a Revell Convertible Camaro with it. It's funny what heat will do to the chemicals in the can. So far there's some pretty intresting projects this round guys... can't wait for the progress!?
  14. Yes sir... The colors work well together... That's exactly what it is too... I'm excited to have such an open space to work and I hope it will help with organizing too. The last place was cramped but I made it work...
  15. Unique concept to a magnificent model... plus Awesome photography!
  16. Thanks Tom... I have alot of work to do in the coming months, I may be able to declare a build but for now I'm just gonna enjoy the progress on the other Boyd builds. I'll try to get one goin if I can get set up here at the new place soon, we'll have to see, lotta work to do like I say. And a fine effort to all the participants we have really turned this thread into my favorite... BTW... the Firebird wins for almost gettin done, Nice job on the work thus far...
  17. Thanks Tom, We're moving to a new house tomorrow. sold the old one as of today... We couldn't really afford new furniture peices so we've been buying old stuff and breathing new life into them. kinda like my passion for someone else's old build ups you know, turning them into my own. I've been enjoying the furniture restorations because the wife gets into it too. These peices were junk that we upcycled for our new house. ?
  18. Thanks, I started this project but ended up selling it off in part of my collection to one of my fellow local club members. He finished the car. It's not exactly how I envisioned it finished but it's all good... I have a plan to build another which is why I sold this one.
  19. I'm enjoying the progress here with this and I love that color, gonna be elegant and glamorous like a 50's movie star... these cars make cool looking gassers also...
  20. Beautiful Color... I painted a many models in the 90's and up with the Boyd's line. I still have a brand new can of CTP for somthing... I'll have to get back on my old Plymouth now! Thanks for the inspiration!
  21. Wow! 28 years in the making, How does it feel to have it done? That's a perfect example of a dead build If ever there was one... I've had builds in my mind that long but never on my bench... lol! Good Job getin done... and good luck at the show...
  22. I had a clear coat malfunction with the Ford last week so I had to strip the hood and other body panels. it's alot simpler than my original design. I had aspirations to build a pull behind BBQ pit trailer for it and wooden bed racks and bumpers. but I abandoned all those ideas just to finish up for the deadline. I'll have to revisit those details as well as adding more decals later on. I will say that I have no desire to build this model again in the future. I'll see y'all in the Next round... I hope...
  23. Wow, I like the Color combo on the 32! Really hoping you can get it done Snake... I'm declaring both of my "dead's" finished for this round... And these will be my final builds at the old house as we're preparing to move so I've gotta pack it all up and be out by next Friday! The 1969 Chevelle and 55 Ford Chopped Top Pick up. Both builds are done simple although neither were simple builds, if that makes since? I had some trouble with the Chevelle originally because I had a 69-72 Chevelle junkyard that I got rid of 3 years ago and had pretty much all the parts to finish this one so I had to collect the parts to build it...
  24. Wow! the level of detail is amazing Great use of an old dead van... The project is exactly what I'd expect to see hauling a family to Yellowstone. I see all kinds of homemade contraptions on the road like this! Just seen this Heavy hauler yesterday and thought wow... what an imagination! Model time!
