I could see why you would want to fix those minor problems. I personally like the kit and when Ollie's had them, I got a bunch. I've always wanted to own a real screen used movie car... Nothing too recognizable, one of these would be ideal... I guy in my town owns one of the Thunderbirds from Thema & Louise... I've seen it in his garage.

I think we have a diverse field myself. I thought there might be more of a certain make, model, and year of car. (All Terrific choices and great movies) seems to be nice selections, none the less. At this point there are two Camaros, two Trans-Ams, One G body Pontiac, One Hudson, Six Mopar's, A Thunderbird, (my personal favorite) A few Mustangs and just to mix it up a bit... A 379 Peterbilt, A Shelby Cobra, and A Ferrari Spider. And I may be wrong, but the Daytona Spider is one of few movie cars (if not the only) to be kitted exactly how it was in the TV series... The car in the TV Show "Miami Vice" was in fact a "kit" car (Corvette Chassis with replica Spider body) and Chevy Small block like the model kit. Either way I'm excited to see what goes on with it here... We're gearing up and it won't be long now...

There's so many good ones, it's hard to choose just one. This may be the year for Movie cars for me anyway... I want to build the Knight Rider's KITT A-Team's van, The Ecto-1 from the new Ghostbusters movie and I'd like to build the BTTF DeLorean at some point too. When I think of Movie models I think of http://www.spencer1984.com/ I can say that he is the most dedicated modeler when it comes to film cars that I've ever seen. I'd like to build a few of my favorites this coming year.

That will follow the rules... I'm certain you will make it look Awesome!

Thanks... It was down to that and the 57 chevy or 68 Chevelle both from "Catch me if you can" (1989). The Camaro is so inspiring I just had to go with it. and it gets built near the end of the movie. It's a cool Camaro and I relate to it because growing up, my dad had a 67 Camaro (that he still owns!) My brother and I just restored it for him in 2017.

I've pondered the idea on what to build... I had a few in mind... but I've made a decision... The "Better off Dead" Camaro! It will be outfitted with modern technology and all the other details that make the 67 Camaro the Hero Car from the movie.
-
That is correct. We had discussed it on another thread that the vehicle can be updated so it could technically win a real cannonball run. The Rules are... Movie car appearance, (same make and model) Optional Hi performance modifications to finish or win...or build it to exact specs per the movie... Some folks might prefer to build it as it was in the movie.. I'll leave the rest up to each individual builder's interpretation. Have fun and see ya at the finish line!...?

Nice Choice!

I've been researching this myself and I read that story too... I found the guy and emailed him already...waiting for a response. anyways, he claims the car was already black when they got it but in fact it is a 10th anniversary car... as far as the boombox story goes wouldn't they dub music into the film rather than using actual audio from the scene? The engine seems pretty healthy, I hear a choppy cam in the scene so I would think that it would kill the sound of the radio? But I'm a skeptic sooo...
-
I noticed the interior before... but it didn't occur to me.... what if it was an anniversary car the transportation department painted black for the scenes? that's crazy... That would explain those cool aluminum slots. Makes me think they replaced the anniversary wheels with the slotted wheels so you wouldn't recognize it as an anniversary car...
-
It looks like a quality product... I thought the movie car was burgundy but it looks black in the movie still...I think we're gonna see one fine looking model when it's finished... My two choices are black as well, still waiting to decide...?
-
Nice... I love mixing and matching the 68 & 69 Chargers parts on the Revell cars. I hope Revell puts out a 69 vinyl top Chevelle some day...

We're beginning to see some Great projects already... I'd vote for any of these and they're not even built yet! lol! I've got a feeling there are many more to announce, Thanks.

I had forgotten those wheels were on the car.? "Chrome spokes" I think we called them.... Chrome Steel wheels... Maybe you could use the centers from the Van wheels with larger outter rim to fit the tires and peice the two together for a modern look. Or maybe the wheels in the racecar trailer from Revell will work? they're not plated though...

So I don't want to get you messed up here but have you ever heard of the "Stand up General"? If not, it's actually a real screen used GL converted to mid engine! a blown 440 engine to be exact lol and it does wheelies! Kinda DOH folklore with fans, I seen the car in 04 at the reunions show... Just before CBS cancelled the show, this GL was set to appear on the Season premiere and it was filmed with that intention, like what couldn't the General do? And that isn't all... Wouldn't Dom's engine look Awesome in the back seat of the General?

Awesome selection! There's no doubt that 68 69 and 70 Chargers own the Screen... It's a winner no matter what role it plays.

One of my favorite scenes from this movie as well... Billy thinks he can be popular with a blue jean jacket, REO speedwagon t-shirt, and a black Trans-Am lol only he's about 10 years too late...lol Great choice! What a Classic example of Car movie cinema with that Sassy Grass 440! I often think about the plot to this movie as being well thought out... it's a great story that really does need to be re-made... I would hope that not too many Trans-ams get destroyed in the making of the re-make... Lol There is some great forecasting going on here guys! It's got me thinking on which car to build myself...

Here are some of my favorites... and the great thing about the 2020 CBR theme as Scott had pointed out on the theme page is you can choose from any of the 1,000's of movies, not just "Car" movies but All movies...

The Rules: The 2020 CBR theme is Movie, TV, and Film cars. Your build must be any vehicle (correct make and model) that have appeared on film. Background cars are welcome: as long as you can provide the details (screen still, movie title etc...) "The Twist"...you may make necessary upgrades to be worthy of the trip and have the ability to get there the quickest... Your Movie & Film car has to be recognizable and retain the Spirit of the car from the movie. I'm leaving it up to the builder's open interpretation of the car they choose to build. 1. The build can be either a new or started kit up to 25% complete. A re-builder or parts box special is okay too. 1/24 or 1/25. If you absolutely must do a 1/20 model we’ll likely bend the rules as we have before, but that’s the limit. EXCEPTION TO RULE 1. If you have a previously started racer from a previous running of the Cannonball (SA or MCM) 50% complete or less, they are eligible to run this year as long as they meet the theme requirement. All of our previous runs are still available on either of the two forums. If you are going to do this, please be certain it was involved in a previous run. We will continue to implement this rule each year, as the goal of this CBP was always to get people building and finishing models. 2. Before starting please post a photo of your kit(s) or pile o’ parts. No limitation on type of vehicle or technology used. I have a feeling we’re gonna see some weird stuff this year. 3. The car must appear to be street legal. Headlights, tail lights, license plate etc. 4. As always, have fun and watch out for two priests in a red Ferrari. That’s it for rules. The following is just FYI. - You may start a separate build thread for your build if you wish, but please keep the CBP thread updated. - The Movie/film car can be as eye catching or non-descript as you wish. Bright colors and/or racing livery will make you more noticeable to local law enforcement, but that’s your problem - Build time begins on January 1st, 2020, local time and ends at 11:59PM on December 1st, 2020, local time. That’s 11 months’ folks. - After the finish, we will create a poll and we’ll have the “race”, a public vote. - A few weeks prior I’ll start a completed builds thread, for posting up your work and we’ll work the poll from that thread. Take some GOOD PHOTOS! I cannot emphasize this enough, good photos are essential. No one has won this with crappy photos in poor lighting. - You may build as many models as you wish for this CBP but only one can be entered in the public voting poll after Dec. 2. - You can enter this CBP at any time up to 48 hours before the end date. A Special Thanks to Jantrix for the rules and the creative inspiration!

I'm intrigued and if it's anything like the Van is it will be amazing. I have so many I'm thinking of building but I have yet to narrow down the one.
