3M Acryl Red. Has a bit of a bite on bare plastic but I usually use it after primer. Sometimes I like a bit of bite so I'll use it first. Not for larger fills though and it does tend to shrink a little.

IIRC, the shark was in the Mako Shark Vette kit.

Have you checked into Shapeways 3D prints? The biggest problem is their search engine is horrible, gives you hundreds of pages worth of things not even close to the search.

Very nice job on both the COE conversion and the trailer.

Someone probably can, but not me! The HO scale ones I would say would be near impossible but the O scale is large enough to make something work. The biggest hurdle is that all the running gear is printed as one piece. With the help of the designer, it might be possible to have the parts done seperately and then printed in metal or other durable material. I have talked with the guy who did the CAD work and his goal is to someday make a live steam scale model of the No 9, but it probably would be larger than O scale (maybe G?).

Agreed! Are the AMT Autocar A64B rims 20" ? I measured them and they seem closer to 24"

I had one of those. I think it was a 65 watt iron, but IIRC you could mount the tip on most any available soldering iron. I think the hottest iron I tried was 100 watt. The key was super hot and fast cut to minimize the melt but as other have said it was an idea that looked better on paper than in reality.

A friend owned his own rig and was running the right lane thru the Bronx, middle of the day. He feels something like a tire blowing but different and starts looking around. Sees a Lincoln Town car spinning out to his front right, hits the brakes but still manages to drag the lugnuts on the right front down the side of the car opening it up like a can opener. Guy tells the cop the truck rear-ended him. Right front bumper is sticking straight out and what happened was the car came on the entrance ramp and decided to try to beat the truck, snagged the front bumper and pulled it forward. Insurance companies took over, the guy wanted a new car immediately as he was using it as a limo. He never got a dime.

I'm thinking that the metal the cans are made from is thinner than it used to be. I've only had one can pop like that and it was a combo of over-heating and vigorous shaking. The bottom being concave should be resistant to that but if the metal is thin......

I use a wooden toothpick and small brush. Use toothpick to nudge the decal onto the brush and then to nudge it off when in place. If the brush is just damp it will wick away any water that might create a problem.

Thanks all. These are both Shapeways 3D prints in Fine Ultra Detail (FUD). They are O scale but are also available in HO. As far as I can tell, they are the only models available of Mt Washington Cog equipment. I have looked for years and even thought of building from scratch but never had the courage...

Finished the coach to go with my previously completed steamer.

Just curious if anyone has a source for these if they even exist? Looking for the old bias-ply type of lug snow tires for AMT rims. I have a set from a kit long ago that are really military style NDTs and just won't look right on a civilian truck. Rims are from the AMT Autocar A64B kit. Looking for 2 for front rims. TIA

I like the show just as I like the Deadliest Catch. No more real and any other "reality" TV show; let's face it, life just isn't that exciting for most of us and the producers are always making things "more interesting" to keep us tuned in. About Darrell, wow, hadn't heard, too bad. He and Lisa seemed close, they went thru a lot together.
