Wow! There are some very nice Mercs here. I built this one in 08. It's a curbside. I needed the motor for another project. I call her Gold Rush. The flying eyeball here is a tribute to the great Kenny Howard. (Von Dutch) I just twisted it a bit with the bat wings. The grille bullets are the masterful craftsmanship of Mr. Bob Dudek. Thanks again Bob!

I went down to the Simeone Museum again yesterday. They were doing a tribute to Shelby. The special guest this time was Chuck Cantwell. Chuck was the project Mgr for the Shelby GT350R as well as the street cars from 64 to 68. (Ford took over in 69. Here's some pics: And heres a link to the rest of the photos: http://public.fotki.com/El-Tanque/simeone-foundation-/legends-of-motorsport/legends-of-motorspo-3/

Yo! Went to another car show at the Simeone Museum yesterday. Hed a good time. The count was still what I would call light, but there were more cars than last time. And...one of our own board members, Lyle Willits was there with his lovely wife Lee, and won a trophy for his 55 Dodge (1:1 car) I guess you can own a winning show car and still drive it. Here's a link to the pics. http://public.fotki.com/El-Tanque/car-shows/kustoms-cruisers--c/ Here's a link the the Museum http://simeonemuseum.org/

But Ed, if your trying to complete a Chaparrel collection...what do you do? I wouldn't pay it, but if you gotta have it...you gotta have it. -
Went down to the Simeone Museum here in Philadelphia again a week ago for another one of their "Legends of Motorsports" Days. This one was honoring Jaguar. The guest speaker was Brian Redman. Man, that guy had some great stories. He was a really nice guy. Anyway, here's some pics and a link to the rest. 68-69 Novas share a similar front subframe with the Camaro of the same years, however...when the bigblocks were installed into the Novas, the torque on launch caused worse spring wrap than on the Camaros. This would cause sketchy handling. The Novas of those years only had monoleaf rear springs and the rear shocks were mounted on opposite sides of the rear axle from each other.(one was mounted in front of the axle, and one was behind). Additionally, when the 427 was installed the lack of frame connectors would allow the body to twist so bad on a hard launch that the windshields would either crack, or even pop out of the body. This is why they were considered so "lethal".

The pastel powder I was using just would not stick to the chrome.
