  1. The owner says the car drives fine....-RRR
  2. The next order of business is to build the floor. It will have to made it two pieces so that it can be installed into the body. A trans tunnel will be added... -------------------------- with the floor installed, the frame can be fabricated..... ------------------------------ The width of the frame will be dictated by the grille shell. A quick change rear end will hung on coil springs, a notch for the QC will be cut into the body... ------------------------- Here's my (somewhat crude) frame, upside down. I'm using the front axle/spring from the Slingster dragster, so a suicide perch will be used.... More later.... -RRR
  3. I'm using an SBC (boring, I know) because that's the setup (siamesed exhaust ports) on the headers I'm using (chrome), stay tuned for more updates on this....-RRR
  4. The "Not Certain T" WIP going on now.... -RRR
  5. With all of the renewed interest in the Uncertain T and the olde Monogram kit basically made of unobtainium, I was thinking about how the AMT Infini-T kit body does resemble the Uncertain T. After a quick Fleabay search, I located some Infini-T parts reasonably priced, so I figured, what the heck.... So, here's the "yard sale" of parts needed to put together a "Not Certain T". --------------------------- I assembled the body and started marking up cut lines.... ------------------------------- This might work.... Since this body has more curves than the Uncertain T, I decided to round the corners of the openings.... Anyway, I'm having fun with this. More as the project progresses... -RRR
  6. Don't try to outrun the polizia in Italy.....-RRR
  7. Did I say I didn't like? I lurk there frequently. If you've ever spent any time on that site, then you'll agree there is a whole lot of attitude there. By the way, the HAMB cut off date is 1948, the last year for hot rods. Do you know why that date is used? I have a couple of builds on Dave's Show Rod site, do you? I used to be a member of TRaK but I was run off of that site. That's another story that will remain private. Peace out... -RRR
  8. Good looking builds... -RRR
  9. Ha! It's WAAAYYY too easy to get those old geezers at the HMAB to get their knickers in a twist. Ya gotta have some pretty thick skin to hang over there... -RRR
  10. That's the very definition of a bad-ass hot rod! -RRR
  11. It was too much for me...I figured I'd just screw it up. A man's gotta know his limits @Kit Karson @Speedpro it was in much better hands in MT... -RRR
  12. That's my kinda bench!!! Here's a few: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/vw-bug-aafa-fuel-altered/ https://public.fotki.com/jferren/t-aafa-wooly-bully-/ https://public.fotki.com/jferren/bantam-aafa-infexion/ https://public.fotki.com/jferren/fiat-aafa/ Bring it on!!! -RRR
  13. Thanks, David. It's what AMT should have done with that kit... -RRR
  14. LOL...thanks for the compliment! -RRR
  15. Thanks, Roger...it's coming along. Now I have to start slinging mud over the body.... -RRR
  16. I spent a good part of yesterday working on the Vega and I got a lot accomplished. First of all, a big shout out to @Muncie. He had contacted me and offered some Revell Jungle Jim Vega funny car parts. Much appreciated! Those will be put to good use. Alright, alright, alright...First order of business is replacing the front wheels wells with ones from another Revell funny car. I used the Gene Snow 'Snowman' kit that has had bits and pieces languishing in a box for many years. the bottom part of the body as marked will be removed and replaced with an angled piece... ---------------------- the driver's side.... -------------------- On to the big moment, mating the two bodies together. The 'back half' body was heavily braced with pieces of sprue to maintain rigidity.... ------------------- The body was carefully measured and cut line was taped off and marked.... ------------------------- You can see how flimsy the body would be without bracing.... ------------------------- I cut off the unneeded part of the front body, making sure I left plenty of material. I had originally planned to use the Revell funny car frame but after some consideration, I decided to use a JoHan funny car frame. This is from the Boss Hoss Mustang kit.... The length of the body is determined by the length of the frame to match up wheels to wheel wells... -------------------------- The 'front body' was cut to length and glued to the 'back body' like so. I didn't take too many pix of the process. I hacked the rear wheel opening flare off of the Jungle Jim body, and sanded it down. The wedge piece will be added to the bottom of the body... ------------------------- Rear wheel flare was shortened and glued on here. The remaining opening on the Vega body was ground out with the trusty Dremel.... ----------------------- The next step is to fill in the hole in the extended hood..... ------------------------------ The hood from the cast off front part of the back body was cut out... ------------------------------------ After much fitting and futzing and sanding and grinding, it's starting to look like something!!!! If you look closely, you can see the two parts of the hood 'hump' don't really line up across the center line. That's going to take some serious filling in..... -------------------------- Here's another angle. I ran the hump on the hood most of the way up to the windshield, since I don't know how much of an opening I'm going to need for the blower, it's better to have more than needed, rather than not enough... Can you say "Bondo??" Thanks for checking in.... -RRR
  17. I'm sporting wood!!!! -RRR
  18. Hot rods (defined as American made cars built before 1949 modified with more modern engine, driveline, interior etc.) and nostalgia drag cars... I usually get inspiration from a 1:1 vehicle and then do a take-off from that, not a copy per se, but inspired by, within the constraints of what's available in 1/25th scale parts and pieces.... -RRR
  19. The car being displayed at the Grand National Roadster Show...I like the oversized box... -RRR
