  1. One can find almost all of those items in existing kits.... -RRR
  2. Maybe they could do something different and do the Model 40 justice. AMT offerings suck.... -RRR
  3. If you're a hot rodding enthusiast, you know the name Gray Baskerville (1936-2002), he was a writer and photographer for Hot Rod and Rod & Custom for many years. He was true character, known for his horn rimmed glasses, Hawaiian shirts, shorts and flip-flops. He had an infectious giggle and was a friend to all. Gray was almost more famous for his primer spotted red '32 full fendered roadster that was his daily driver for most of his life. The car was built by Paul Horning in 1954 and it was updated a few times over the years but Gray always wanted to keep some of it's unique features and style. The car was never a show car and had it's share of bumps and bruises, all part of it's charm. The car is now in the care of Chris Shelton. https://www.motortrend.com/features/1932-ford-roadster-gray-baskerville-hot-rod-magazine/ This project started when Dennis Lacy sent me one of the '32 ragtops he mastered cast by Ed Fluck at Drag City casting. I started mocking up the top and quickly realized the direction this build should take. -Body is from the Revell Rat Roaster. -Various other parts are from the Revell '32 series including the interior from the 'new' roadster kit that is taken from the Rat Roaster kit. -Engine is a flathead from the Revell '48 Ford (Gray's car had an old small block Chevy). -Rear suspension (Columbia two-speed) and crossmember are also from the '48. -Stock headlight bar from one of the Monogram '32 kits. -Tires are from Modelhaus with AMT wheels. -Paint is Tamiya Pure Red. I didn't try to replicate the Gary Baskerville roadster, but take some styling cues from it. More pix here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/red-32-roadster-/ -RRR
  4. I never met the man, but from all accounts, he was a real character... -RRR
  5. As always, Claude, you never disappoint. A unique subject, fabricated perfectly. I always marvel at your skills..... -RRR
  6. Nice looking Vicky. We can't have too many '32s around here, IMHO... -RRR
  7. I wait can't til @Speedpro fires up that airbrush!!! -RRR
  8. Ya can't have too many deuces going on around here, looking forward to your progress... -RRR
  9. Looking good, Jim. I guess it's too late now, but in regards to the stock firewall. I have trimmed out the edge of the cowl so that the firewall can be recessed into the body an RCH or two. This is a resin firewall from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, a bit thinner than the firewall you were trying to use. This did allow me to use the Hemi from the kit. ------------------------- Another area, on one '32 build, I modified the frame for fitting in a QC by notching the gas tank for clearance. In this case using a Model A spring and crossmember..... Just a couple of tricks...carry on! -RRR
  10. Thanks, I often wrap sandpaper around tires to sand arches such as that, the variety of sizes is helpful... -RRR
  11. Thanks for the tip on this, I just ordered a tube in FleaBay. I have been using E6000 for glass and when parts need to be 'nudged' into place. What I don't like about E6000 is that it's very stringy and if I'm not careful it will drape a gooey thread across the parts... -RRR

  13. Use Tamiya TS-47 Chrome Yellow.... -RRR
  14. Yeah!! This is a sweet build... -RRR
  15. Here's my oldest survivor from 40 years ago. I heavily chopped the MPC 'Switchers' 1932 sedan delivery. I filled in all of the body lines and indentations except the rear door (I had no idea what I was doing). It had a wing on the top originally. The exhaust from the Jawbreaker (American Graffiti dragster) is long gone. Add about 1000 coats of hardware store black and viola!!! LOL!!! -RRR
  16. Very nice work on a variety of subjects.... -RRR
  17. I wasn't aware of that paint, I'll have to check it out.... -RRR
  18. https://www.modelhaustires.com/ nice selection, shipped quickly. The center holes fit AMT wheels, not Revell. Shoot them with Tamiya Rubber Black.... -RRR
  19. Lookin' good...this thing should be done just in time for the next ice age!!! -RRR
  20. Those tires are perfect for your application. Pick up some Tamiya TS-85 Rubber Black paint for them.... -RRR
  21. The answer is always "yes". -RRR
