  1. washing and scrubbing
  2. Started on 1/3/21, finished on 2/3/21, 125 hours. For everyone else doing the Cannonball Ruse who is going to tint the windows so the roll cage doesn't show up, don't bother adding stuff to the interior, it was just dumb to spend so much effort. Have many left over parts, the rally lights will be cool on something, and have a bunch of decals, and some nice but worthless for other cars photo-etch. Took a bunch of last day on the bench pictures, glamor shots will be taken for the Under Glass.
  3. Blew off work so I could finish this. Added a roll of paper towels inside, before putting the halves together. Then I weathered it, like it's been through some rain, using Testors Dullcote mixed with various ratios of Afrika Korps sand and grey. Then I tried to fix the photo-etch brake disks, and also rubbed in a circular motion on fine sandpaper to get a proper look. Then the wheels were put on. DONE!
  4. Glad you see that. Have not, I didn't "weather" it for a reason.
  5. I had a wild hair to finish this one. Have 3 WIP to get back on.
  6. Don't go overboard to prove me wrong! ? Roll cage the main focus to cut out? Talking about paraphernalia, I tossed some into my interior.
  7. These participants are going to be so jacked up! ? Made more cans to litter the back with. Also made a garbage bag. With the tinted windows, none of this will be easily seen. Took the brake disks off, since I kept catching one of them, and they didn't sit down all the way. Will use the Dremel with diamond bit to open those up a little, and also glue in after the weathering. Stuck the tiny AP logos on (arrows). Another thing to eliminate daylight through the interior, black paper panels are added (arrow). Have one more interior junk detail to add before buttoning up.
  8. paper target, pinned
  9. Well thank you! Thanks! The paper is a glossy but thin paper, there is a cover paper that has the same fine gloss. The shop I get copies at has a good selection. Thank you!
  10. Patience of a saint! I have that kit in the stash. Some nice work.
  11. Heller kits are usually a challenge to begin with. Nice job on a subject we almost never see.
  12. The very fine mesh went into the Auto Union C too. ? Used the cordless drill to turn clear sprue into water bottles, polished up with Novus. Wasn't concerned with exact duplicates, since there are so many brands out there. The radiator hose clamp is Detail Master, the one for the intake pipe came with the engine. There are some super fine clamps that came with the engine, but the instructions don't show them, crazy detail that only secret club members know about. ? Got the paper details printed. I made tiny wood blocks to glue the kit boxes onto. Used the cordless drill, along with the sanding drum attachment on the Dremel to turn a dowel from Maple, for the cans. The license plate is glued with Testors canopy glue to aluminum plate. Polished, and painted the Subaru emblem on the Scale Motorsport fret. The kit logo decal was put on the trunk, the race car doesn't have that. Going to make more Monster cans, and throw in the back.
  13. ? Thanks for the screen it sits on. Thank you! Thanks, appreciate that. I made water bottles, and glued on hose clamps last night, will post pictures later. Drinking the other Monster this morning. ?
  14. I've been looking at this too. Says full detail, but no engine.
  15. Fabulous diorama! I like the wall texture, for starters. Will it be in a glass case?
  16. I see everyone else is focused on having as much horsepower as possible, and the biggest fuel tank to go at least as far as my little Subie before a pit stop. Bet none of you are thinking about the driver and co-driver, far as staying awake and hydrated. ?
  17. Think Daniel is still making up the lack of sleep. ? That came out great! Yes, what is the paint!!!!!!
  18. That's nothing, just before the NHTSA mandated battering ram designs that I consider the Dark Ages of automotive design.
  19. Yea yea, now we are PC. ? Used the drill press, radial arm saw, and disk sander to make a mondo cup holder from a Corian scrap. I usually only get these Monster drinks while on road trips. First one down this morning. ? Was amazed how fast the cutoff disk wore out while cutting around the bottom. Saved part of the pop top for a part. Made the door glass from a package that is more clear than Evergreen. Glued on the aluminum plate for bottom support that can be adjusted. Back to the drink holder, I'm amazed they take so much effort to laser cut the logo into the pull tab, had to use it. Made bungee cords from Detail Master wire, and tiny wire from my wire stash. A good case for Tacky glue. Getting the drink holder in was like doing a ship in a bottle. Thought it might be a good idea to tape down the cans on stiff cardboard, to get scanned. The Scale Motorsport fret has mirrors, which needed to get polished to be convincing. Thought I might as well do the console panel too. The panel fit perfect, no glue required. I could have slop painted the buttons more. ? Mirrors, and wing glued on, body is ready. So close!!! ? Want to do the cans, make water bottles, and some trash for the interior, and license plate. Will scan the kit boxes and make them to scale too. Then the big final assembly! ?
