  1. This is complicated..... could also be put in the Pleased thread, but here goes. Drake is a nice paved road going to a drug money laundering cement plant, GPS thinks it's an alternate route, but there are signs saying it's not because it turns to nasty mud. It was a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere, then half of the traffic turned left and we got back to normal. I will represent other people working for a living, U-turns had to blow. Picture going south 89, where the "C" in canyon is.
  2. Ditto first comment, but the other way around, anything that is patina gets my attention, and it's not even a rally car after a stage. The base needs attention, when you have the materials and an idea, it can save an awful kit. I see everyone else likes the last one, and you never see one at a model contest, ever. 🙄
  3. Set of tires is something like $35,000, and don't last long when doing record runs. I just saw the one-off Aston Martin DBS (correct me if wrong, their first V8) water cut glass, 4 pieces was $40,000! Keeping up with the Jones' with insane money, meh. 🫥
  4. shrill ghouls karakoing
  5. Southern Arizona has been getting hammered with flash floods, and record amounts. Been seeing highways that are being undercut, having to be closed. But up here it's been gentle long rains, got 1.5" overnight and didn't notice (no thunder). Today I wanted to see Fall color in Williams and/or Flagstaff. This pond is the headwaters of the Verde River, it's usually completely dry. We have some catching up, the soil has soaked up runoff, not topped out. No rain during the day, the rumble strips on the highway had water. I was on 89 going north to Ash Fork, but when I saw semis parked on I-40, and some parked at the interchange, plus a huge increase in traffic going south, knew it was closed. Turned around, took a side trip to get away from the slow train. This is an old alignment that is still being used. This is my Fall color picture. I found a cool rock. The dirt road was wet but not muddy, great for traction. 😏 This is a cinder pit for when the new highway was built, last century.
  6. when tragic news
  7. The newest parts of Prescott Valley has such a median, with identical trees exactly 50 feet (guessing) apart. But the dirt is level, not sloped like that, which is like a golf course community that has no curb and washes gravel onto the lane. They at least have the water main along the edge of the streets.
  8. Yesterday I measured two storms, 0.4" each time, then before dusk another 0.1"+- (0.9"), then last night it rained 1.5"! 😳 No thunder, just a nice rain. The Saturday morning cruise was dead, just the Task Force Chevy was there. Some low fog in the valley. It's very green now, much like when I travelled through Montana and Wyoming. Took a backroad in the afternoon. No rain at all today (after I got on the road this morning), but everywhere got some last night. Hard to tell, Flagstaff is under the storm cloud. Too nice to sit around. 😁
  9. Seems like it's been forever, 8 months later..... Monsoon was two months late, fire restriction was dropped a few weeks ago, the pattern has been calm before a storm. Spur of the moment I sent most of my new rockets up. I forgot the tripod for the phone, lucked out that a guy who was flying airplanes came over and helped by using the launcher, which requires both hands (the ancient unit I had was one-handed).
  10. Appreciate your participation in my game. Prayer for you, take care of yourself!
  11. Huge energy used! Plenty of opportunity to get crushed to death.
  12. Second fire of this summer.
  13. Seen several independent forecasts saying AZ is going to get the remnants of a hurricane by the weekend. You can see the grass is green, delayed by a couple months the normal monsoon pattern. Yesterday it was calm enough to launch rockets.... off to that thread. 😁
  14. Enjoying the input from other parts of the planet. There are people who already had their license revoked if they even had one, driving drunk and/or high, or not citizens, who really don't care. That last graphic 30/101 is exactly what I have to do, after the highest median I've ever seen was built where I turn at the highway, every time a U-turn is required. One week two separate fatal accidents happened at each end of the island. "Flock cameras" are something new here too, to keep track of smuggling drugs/people. I can see them being abused to jail drivers like me on long trips.
  15. Went rock hunting today, was hoping to find Hematite or other purple/red rocks, but instead found a mother lode of green rocks. Rain is forecast by the weekend. Already took out a few large ones and put at the mailbox, out before backing in.
  16. I'm on their email list, so I immediately jumped on it, and been getting emails saying it's "on hold". I believe if enough people pre-order, might light a fire. Making progress! 🏆
  17. Stupidity has been studied to death, see Universe 25 which is ... um ... interesting.
  18. Thank you for the clarification. I'm amazed what 3D printing has done for our hobby. Carry on. 🙂
  19. Year time to see your Fall colors. 🍂
