  1. Great, another kit *I need*. ๐Ÿ™„ Hope there isn't an Overlander 4X4 version. I see those around town and drool. Hippie van, there's something different. ๐Ÿ˜œ So this better be good.....
  2. I must have been under a rock.... missed this for the lack of three words. Your last post is amazing, I will wander through your topic. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a modest Mercedes G4 custom that I'm stalled on.
  3. Aridzona report: Russell, you told me you prefer that to snow. ๐Ÿคช While I was in town, 1/4" on my place. That's not surprising, when the chance is 40%, means land area *might* get something fingers crossed. I like AccuWeather's radar map, I suspect Havasupai Falls will be flash flooded this summer, again. Went for a walk to "the field" south of me, this is a nice bench to sit at. Then about a minute later without a model, I leave. ๐Ÿ˜… Someone else drug the Juniper snag to this spot, I've been manicuring, which includes green, purple, maybe quartz rocks. I used a spokeshave to flatten the top, it has a blade sheen (not sanded) and starting to patina. One summer as a teenager, we flew to Houston from Tucson, must have been August (when dad would take that slot for vacation). When I walked down the airline ramp to the concrete, I about melted! So that was enough for me, parched that we are. Lampasses was nice.
  4. I'm just a techno grouch full stop. Makes me think of the Evolution progression meme, from ape to missing link to human to human getting killed by an A.I. robot. Enjoy this analog life while it lasts, not a fan. But I will admit to using G00gle's version, to argue on Fascistbook with. This is also why I enjoy kitbashing.
  5. Did the other headlights to match. But I'm still having issues with the brakes! Front is leaking? All new NAPA calipers, having the mechanic who did my pickup do it, just been a pain getting the correct parts to begin with, then they are junk, ridiculous unless you pony up on aftermarket, not ready to rebuild the whole car.
  6. Yesterday morning I looked at the almost useless iPhone weather app, no rain at all forecasted for 10 days, no clouds, 90ยบ predicted high. The radio weather guy is usually more accurate. So I taunted Mother Nature, and had lunch in Seligman. Watched the thunderheads build up, everywhere else. I almost want to aim where the radar shows rain, sort of like a Hopi rain dance (I attended one years ago) but with a car. But alas, after I got home, it started to rain so I closed the pickup windows, then it stopped. Another area got 1/4" of rain. Pleased to see it's happening. Again phone app shows zero rain, radio guy said it's a higher chance today.
  7. Plaid Tesla, has anyone scratch-built a model?
  8. Huh, I didn't either, but You Tube and internet didn't exist back then. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ That's interesting, until you drive in snow.
  9. Pleased that we are expecting the rains to start this week. I'm trying to egg it on, all clean, windows down, but didn't do a rain dance.
  10. This is a look-the-other-way and you-only-did-that-once so forget about it. But the time I joined a drum circle for a moonrise at this spot is a good memory. Forest Service blocked the party spot when a new parkinglot and outhouse was built. I think it was driven by new million dollar homes being built on a hillside back to the right. Less and less places to park. Traded for this, signs signs everywhere.
  11. There was originally, there is a tiny remnant in the channel. There is a huge gap under that panel, above the bumper, I bet the underside got really dirty, PITA to clean. I was thinking about something like how the grill is made louvers, mock up cardboard first, something like the Alfa Romeo Montreal. Or 1/4" galvanized WWM (screen) painted black, or even the stainless like what Bentley does but that's getting beyond my "rat rod" look. But still the new LED lights lead. When cleaning, noticed the Sign Man cowboy spurs were broken off, then I caught the arm and he was out of competition. Made a new one from roofing aluminum. The stamps were my dad's, he had Womack inside the Mauser banner logo, screwed up the first one. Prescott's rodeo is coming up, had to fix that! This is easy to remove, if I wanted to grow up. I was thinking of what the Bronco, Mustang, and what else needs one?
  12. This is traditionally when our "monsoon" season (some Arizonians hate that word, it's just rain following a dust storm, which they are trying to call something else) starts. The World's Oldest Rodeo is around the Forth of July, some years gully washer, others fire restrictions like this year. So I washed my car, and did another coat of "polish", top down taunting Mother Nature. I'm serious, just when I took this picture, a distant thunder, only one I heard. Got some drops, we would say it was about 2", between drops. Then I parked inside the Shipping Container. Then it stopped, if you don't like the weather wait a few minutes. Looking up. No luck.
  13. Used gun salesmen are more trustworthy than car salesmen. ๐Ÿคช
  14. Seems like this theme has been done before, but it's been an age and things change. It's going to be 10 years that I have owned this '16 Honda Civic EX-T, which I named Stealth, when I want to go incognito. I got on a 10th generation forum for these cars, but it bored me after about a year. Early picture, now has a big dent in back, and down the side, and..... '68 Chevy C-10 Long Bed pickup, with a new 350 H.O. crate engine, same 4 speed no changes, limited slip dif, aluminum radiator, front disk brakes with power, seat redone. I hauled 0.6 ton of driveway gravel recently. Camped 17 nights last year, too hot and dry now. Blue Cloud. But recently after sorting out various things on this 56 year old with a 48 year old body, it's being driven more than the other cars. Fakerri.
  15. Sense on sale at the new legal head shop.
  16. I'm still getting used to going over the windshield for taking on-the-road pictures. I know over 60 is a joke (and no evidence this way either). Going towards Chino Valley. Regarding showing off, I'm not used to that much in one day. A different looking tricycle parked next to me at the morning cruise, Rotex sound familiar? I asked lots of dumb questions because I don't ride motorcycles. One thing that is fascinating, had motorcyclist #3 give me the thumbs up when he paced me on the highway. This isn't really a "cager", no roll cage.
  17. Brakes are not 100% perfect, but it's running great after an oil change, calipers changed (Delco NAPA). I have a young mechanic who has been sorting it out. Meanwhile, have this cool rubberized paint, gotta use it on something! It's a better cheapo RinoLiner than what passes as bed liner. Can you spot the difference in the look? When painting a model, looking under a magnifying glass makes my work look like this. ๐Ÿ˜… Imagine with the modern black headlights nowadays. (I hate how it's 1 "one", is that each light, or the set of 4)
  18. Love this Original Topic! I could hijack this thread, but I better not. ๐Ÿ˜… I'm fortunate that I had family who could take pictures, back when you debated about taking every shot, did you wind to the next frame, that fun stuff. Dad's father had this '57 Chevy from new, I sort of remember taking a few drives. He had sandpaper glued to the tunnel to light wood matches for the cigarettes. Just when I got to driving age, he traded it for a "Chevy" LUV pickup, which I inherited with slipping clutch and monthly breakdowns. I don't care how well you built that LUV model, I won't look. ๐Ÿ˜† My dorkiest stage in life, survived with no seat belts, no a/c (were in Phoenix when it hit 122ยบ), no ABS brakes, no electric windows, no girlfriend..... The snotnosed brat is me. Dad restored most (not interior) of this Mercedes Benz 170V Roadster. He said never again, but what am I doing? ๐Ÿ™„ This is a stretch, just before I was born they had VW Beetles (this is the first one that mom rolled when pregnant with me), dad worked at Zion N. P. but was soon transferred to GCNP. He took even more spectacular shots, but I'll step out for a smoke.
