That came out nice! Don't you love it, only after looking at the pictures do you see......... I have this kit, wanted to do a replica of the Tom Mix (silent movie star who filmed some in my area) car that he was killed in.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
89AKurt replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Found this Unimat DB 200 at the swap meet last Saturday. Took a picture there, came home to look at what eBay wish prices are, went back and gladly paid $200. Didn't know I wanted one. π Before cleaning up: After cleaning and oiling: Drill bit works fine for the stop. The hole is for a missing lever, that I have no clue about. Found a video on You Tube about the tailstock, learned there were some screws and a nut missing. Scavenged screws from a ceiling fan made into grub screws. Now I have to find a manual, and a complete diagram, and learn how to use it. Got it to turn rocket nose cones, I took 5 semesters of college wood shop, but not machining. Sharpened the cutter, and tried it out with a dowel. It was too cute to pass up. π -

I don't want to get into a debate about Tariffs. Simple fact, when the Income Tax was introduced, Tariffs were dropped, how did that work out? If this was an investigation, I would say Taiwan is next to CHYna. Anyone old enough to remember when Made In Japan meant cheap, knockoff, Datsun, then we were fine with moving on to another country, and then we just let what we have now happen. I have a zero gap on a wheel, sanded down the rough machining, which seems to have been enough. End rant to avoid getting into trouble. π€¬ Old "American" wheels: New "American" wheels:

Got new wheels/tires today. I found some almost exact Ferrari (but F40) wheels, made in England. The dealer in the States led me to it, but I had to TinEye reverse image the picture to figure out the brand, saw their price π΅βπ«, and he said the tariff scare (and that's what it is, next stop Irk thread) is messing things up, and I didn't hear from him again. So I decided that since Discount Tire is just up the highway from me, and I like the vintage TorqThrust "American" Racing design, and it is a Corvette, I made the decision. Avoided much needed rain. Still have issues to sort out, before the Williams Route 66 car show June 7th.

Friendly loveable Squirrels..
89AKurt replied to A modeler named mike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My last girlfriend's house has an enclosed porch, with windows that move down. The walls are hollow, and the Squirrels were inside, climbing up the screens. Cute, but not there! -

I'll latch onto "if you love what you do" for work, I hate what my career became under the building departments. I love doing a bunch of other stuff, but no pay. π€ Got the last check of my career, customer uses a bank service, they only printed my first name, credit union wouldn't deposit it because of the amount. So in about 10 days she will pay me directly when in town. I'm on the warpath trajectory with the hated County building department about something, withholding details for now, but it never ends. π‘

Deal's Wheels Porsche

I built 3 Big Deal models as a kid. This is very cool! I could see a Turbo with an even bigger whaletail...... -
No wonder you don't get anything done. π

You are not in luck, it's the only one in existence, homemade. We had what amounted to a tempest, looked almost like monsoon season, then about an hour later it was almost clear.

Last Saturday it didn't go over 70ΒΊF, and had gusts. Sunday was a big mountain bike race, everyone at the finish line were wearing jackets. I'm next week someone will leave the oven door open.
