Dumb median design - anyone else see this?
89AKurt replied to 89AKurt's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
John's comment above about roundabouts in Arizona, I think you guys invented those yes? π I've seen an aerial photo of one in England that looks like a Cusinart blade. I think Arizona Dept. Of Transportation sent some Engineers to a seminar over there, to implant the idea here. I was vocal about the first one installed in Prescott, on AZ89, that must have been two decades ago. I just heard a radio PSA about how to drive through them, some people refuse to adapt. I love them, when there aren't other vehicles near me. Sedona the tourist trap near me, has tiny ones, some two lanes, came close to a wreck one time. -

Most excellent!! A properly weathered rally car after the stages were run. IMO rally cars *have to* be dirty! -

First time I have seen a model of one. Parents had the extended cab 4x4, I managed to get a speeding ticket with it. π€ Thanks for sharing, looks good! -
Yesterday (Saturday) was an awesome weather watching day. But not for Globe which is south of me, I saw flash bulbs going off from a distance, they got bad flash flooding. The Snow Bowl ski area on the San Francisco Peaks has some snow. I love driving in "bad weather" sometimes (miss skiing), gives a much different perspective than sitting in one place. I was also somewhat aimless, the justification was gathering rocks for the yard. So jump in and ride along.... First stop was the Bosa Donuts early cruise, the sun ray breaking the clouds... Not many showed up. Next stop Cars & Coffee. Got bored with that, put on grubbies and started on a back road. Looks like it's not raining to the right.... Not so fast, about 20 miles down the highway it was pouring. First stop is down to the right, the crossing of the Agua Fria which showed signs of flooding, and got to see a mini flash flood. Drove south to the old junction of Cordes, basically a junkyard. A side road with a view. This stretch of road was slickier than snail snot. Stopped at the old bridge over the same river. Sunset Point rest area is on the ridge. The Bumble Bee exit was super dooper slicker..... sure was fun though. I headed north on I-17, past Sunset Point and turned into the Agua Fria National Monument, every arroyo showed signs of good rain. Some water to cross. Returned to the Superslab, then turned onto Orme Road, a "shortcut" to another road. That road was slick on some stretches too. Looks like my alignment is way off. Sure helped to have weight for traction, and the posi differential worked great. I got about an inch of rain this weekend, slowly and not at once. Washed about 200 pounds of mud off. Tonight it's 55ΒΊF, phone shows -18ΒΊ below normal. 82% humidity. Too muddy to do rockwork.

What did you see on the road today?

Yesterday I saw this in the construction traffic jam. Used to hear it every day below me, always full throttle, then nothing for awhile, then heard again but restrained. Must have moved, haven't seen/heard for some time. -

Anyone see the meme of highway construction workers pointing, and saying we need to start another project there? Prescott's main highway is getting a revamp, then the intersecting road that *could* be a detour is too, then the other highway into town is getting repaved. There is one light that is cycling stupid today, the same amount of short time for the highway, then the side road with Lowes and a church, so it took 4 light cycles for me to get through. I know that's normal for Las Vegas, but not here. ADOT has some stupid workers setting the timing on the lights, no wonder people run red lights so much. I always talk about the stupid "smart light" where I have to U-turn all the time. First World problem, I could move and be the growth there.

That a JDM only car? I currently own a 2016 Civic coupe, there is currently no coupe, so I had to look.

Monsoon is sputtering. Sunday evening it sprinkled, about 0.1", after my walk to the meditation spot at the field. I planed down the log, and have been harvesting cool rocks to place around it. Instead of building models. π Yesterday woke up to what looked like Washington state. Got a half inch. Stopped raining before Noon, then finished with a little sunset. Nights are chilling down, now at 8pm it's 72ΒΊF, but it's been dropping into the high 50s. Been seeing beautiful Fall colors in CO on Fakebook, and I saw some on my way down from Montana, temperature dropping quick helps.

Fuzz Therapy had to be put down yesterday. π’ She was declining the past couple months, I visited family so was gone a week, the day after I returned she was dumping bloody in the middle of the floor, so off to the vet. Kidney failure is common with old cats, she was at least 18 years old. She was acting like Dementia, and was very week because she kept throwing up. Poor thing, no issues for all those years. She loved to lay on whatever was new on the table. She was part of the only litter born in my house, 40 years now. First cat was named Cuervo because of the box I brought him home in.

I did not take a picture of every vehicle...... though I wanted to. When making distance, stopping is not really an option. In Washington state, never see these. I was working at an office on US89, Dodge had these test cars before they were released driving by, I thought they were custom. Easy drive-by shot. Vernal, Utah. Somewhere in Wyoming. Saw 3 Tesla Cybertrucks on the wide open range. -
I got back from a 3,000 mile road trip, Arizona to Washington state. I posted the above picture from Nevada, no rain all the way to Bellingham, WA. While there, it did rain, they really needed it. Here is the beginning of my return, south of Bellingham, on the way to North Cascades N.P. "shortcut" to Spokane. Washington Pass, the summit viewpoint is freaking awesome. Clouds were passing over me, never experienced that before other than skiing. Leaving Butte MT the next morning. It was cloudy almost all the way, but no rain to notice. When I passed Flagstaff, got in some rain. There was nothing in my rain gauge, so it didn't rain while I was gone. But during the washing of the car to get the bug carnage off, of course.... β‘ Saw some Fall color on the way down, so it's here!
