  1. Since I have this kit in the stash, of course I have to subscribe and see the ultimate fate of this guy's project. Not like I'm thinking of a 3D printed engine or anything (which this desperately needs, just to taunt this builder).
  2. Well hi there, I see you recently joined, welcome. Yes you were hogging all the rain! But I got dumped on, just because I drove the convertible to Prescott Valley, and coming back I got soaked! I was more excited than ticked off, need to clean up in the morning. Took this just after I got home.
  3. Go slow rider.
  4. Tease, just more Nonsoon. Since it was cloudy, thought digging in the dirt that turns to gooey mud would taunt Mother Nature. To start the day, I felt the humidity was higher, could smell it too. Got cloudy, storm cells were forming. Heard thunder in the distance, not good now to have ground strikes. Then this, the remains of Virga. Then that was it. 😡
  5. I'm always looking for special rocks, I toss the white quartz in one area, green in another, oh wait check out this green..... wow! Found along the edge of the driveway. It just died and was on the ground, could have been wasted by the weed eater if there was any rain. But because the humidity is so low, it's mummified. I should sell it on eBay. 🙄
  6. I have been polishing some of the Chopper. Masked a section in the middle of the frame, to test polish the paint, might do the whole bike. Used Blue Magic to polish the rusty rims, and my stainless steel chain guard. So I'm pleased to improve this old bike without spending big bucks. It's fun to have at cruise nights and car shows. I'm tempted to see if disk brakes can be restomodded. 😏
  7. Just boring clear skies because the Monsoon flow just isn't happening. Hot. Some sunset action, but the grass is shows we are in exceptional drought.
  8. The Domino Effect, where one project breeds more projects, that take priority and have to get done before you proceed. I'm sure that never happens to anyone. 🙄 I needed to park the "new" pickup somewhere, and decided to remodel the front yard. I discovered "bulk spec ABC" designed for driveways, the aggregate is sharp, clay mix turns it all into a great surface, better than road spec ABC which has concrete chunks too. 0.6 ton second load. First version, then looked at it and changed some things. Took out a plant that was always scrawny, and cut back the Rosemary that was one of my first plants established, and survived. Now I don't have to worry about side swiping my other vehicles.
  9. AWD, independent front was a special feature. Stick around long enough, say decades, might happen. 😄 That's killer research material right there! I love drawings, huge help. Looking at the back too, if I wanted to be accurate, or go Trophy Truck.
  10. For what it's worth, I've been on this 67-72 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Projects and Builds forum for years. For example, the '68 had an option for the aluminum trim over the grill, it's on my pickup, and many restorations have that removed like the blue '67. Are the taillights and tailgate accurate?
  11. I just worked a car show, Sunday was VW Day, half the vehicles were VWs. I borrowed a Vanagon Westfalia to camp at Moab, Utah. Had a Jetta. Parents had Beetles post WW2, this is in southern Utah where you would get arrested for driving here. So I will have to watch this channel! 😁 I have also built military models, never saw that transporter before. There is also a big Bus show in Jerome, AZ.
  12. Just like the Chevy S-10s, all these smaller pickups, especially with the extended cab, are going to become very popular soon, when the behemoths with more computers than a Space Shuttle, break one. I had a friend with a Datsun extended cab, stolen and recovered two times. So more power to you! I would do a 350 crate engine, just sayin'. I would also look for the rotary pickup, slip a newer engine in.
  13. Still boring clear skies with wildfire haze, could break a high temperature record.
  14. Qualifies for the Shelf Of Doom - Bring Out Your Dead. I stalled at the front suspension, how far do I go? Just the shocks nowadays are complicated. Bob noticed I like different, yes, I do!
  15. Hi Erik, I have a few pictures.... this is not my '69 Blazer (don't get you going about adding those), also to '72, the leading edge of the hood is more vertical, and this still has the Bowtie (which IMO should be a separate chrome part). So the fenders are the same. His bumper splash pan appears to be bare aluminum. My '68 ('67 too) have the codeword "Sloped Hood". Separate letters, photo-etch opportunity, no Bowtie. Mine still has the factory "White Face" in the grill, painted bumper splash pan. Side trim changed too, mine goes over the wheel. Just doing all the badges will delay it another year. 😉
  16. Huh, so replacing with an aftermarket fancy oil pan with lots of crevasses AND A DRAIN PLUG. Don't go over any boulders. This guy's truck will outpull anyone. Also a foot narrower than the Dodge behind there. Gets only 7 MPG, even in free fall from space, that's why all this complication. The Ford behind it has been in the same family since new, been restored. I've heard just one headlight with it's own computer, cannot change the bulb, whole unit is junk. My older brother bought a new Silverado, with the remote tailgate, a recall waiting to happen.
  17. Since this is my '68 Long Bed, and built the previous '69 Green Barge owned before, from the lousy promo chassis AMT kit, I have some opinions too. The tailgate and taillights are totally wrong on the old AMT kit, if the new kit is not accurate it ought to bomb. Nothing else matters to me. If I was to invest in producing 3D printed parts to make that ancient kit look good, THEN Moebius would release it. Everyone wants this and that option, okay, so they produce another tree of parts, and y'all will whine about the high cost of new models. Off the top of my head, the options: Seat: bench or bucket. Shifter: column or floor. Pedals must match. Door card: steel or deluxe. Better have separate chrome cranks and levers. Outside door handle separate too! Tailgate: stamped painted, or aluminum deluxe. Deluxe has extra trim. Side trim: body with zero trim, make you add the level you want, more parts. Grill: Each year has differences. Back bumper: Many choices, who will make 3D for a ranch truck bumper? Back window: Only the '67 was small, so have an infill part to putty in. Mine has the aftermarket slider, there is another 3D part. 1967 had no sidelights at all. Deluxe trim is different than stock '68-72. Short Bed vs. Long Bed. Flamewar material. A/C or not. Engine: always the first thing to change. Big difference in trim details. Gauge clusters have fake dials. Mirrors: Sport or RV Then let's have the GMC versions. This is a real survivor, bought and basically parked, never needed restoration. The picture used by Moebious is a real truck, with custom (not factory) details. Seats are newer. Not factory wheels. Has the window thingies. No letters across the hood, should be photo-etch or go home. No radio antenna. My Long Bed is going to be worth a fortune in another decade, because they're getting whacked for fake SB.
