Who manufacturers these kits in US or UK???
89AKurt replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in Wanted!
A gentleman who builds real cars (current project is Speed Racer) and restores exotics, makes resin models, name Jim Simpson. He is a Fakebook contact of mine. Think he did a Saita so I will try to remember to double check. I'm blown away by Anton's post above, amazing what 3D printing is doing for our hobby. -
Since I'm using rockets to pull myself out a bad slump (have not done anything since the last GSL), and paint goes bad sitting around, I'm digging Alcad paint. John Terresi is a master with it, it's always a hit & miss on getting a decent result. I also found a nail "polish" that is supposed to be chrome, but looks like aluminum when airbrushed, but it's about 100 times more durable.

Wish y'all would quit hoarding the snow! ð There is a weather pattern sending all moisture north of Aridzona, been way over 60 days since we got measurable precipitation, and nothing but teases forecast.

Is it true the Titanic sub was being run by a game controller? The reset button malfunctioned, I think. ð

I ditched my cable in 2008, and used the TV for target practice. I went through the barfly/poolshark stage several years ago, never got better than average Joe let's take you money at the tournament. I have an 8' pool table that hasn't been played on....... gosh..... when was that?

One of my daughters is a video game addict. Since she got out of the Navy last year, all she has done is play video games, zero ambition to improve her life much less take advantage of the military funding education to become marketable for employment. So I have to ask, how many of you used just your video game ninja skills as a resume to get a job that pays more than Minimum Wage? The only time I played a video game, kids gave me Need For Speed, I managed to open the last level, "won" that. That was on a desktop using the up/down/sideways keys. Then I thought "that's it? What do I have to show for it?"

What non-auto model did you get today?
89AKurt replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I should join a model rocket forum, because I'm possessed/obsessed about them now. The only unbuilt kit I had, started on the fins then put away 45 years ago. You would think I would rest on my laurels for finishing it, but no........ I'm getting kits I missed out on last century, the last one is the Mars Lander by Semroc not in the picture. I did get a car model when I went to Phoenix to get motors. Last one completed, intended for twilight launches. Someone gave me a rocket of the Battlestar Galactia fighter built really bad and water damaged, but the nose cone was repurposed. See any automotive influence? -
This didn't happen today, but when I was out of town for Christmas. A store at our big and dying mall has a contest, bring in "vintage" toys, there are several categories. Last year I entered an Erector set, didn't win anything. So I know everyone likes the Countach, and I won a $100 gift certificate! Another $50 got this pan set. The gal asked if I like to cook, I said that I just like nice things, she laughed and agreed. So I think it's funny that I made an unbuilt kit work for money.

As the one who started this thread, I wanted to say to everyone that I'm pleased y'all took to this game! THANK YOU!

That sounds better than chickenwire or expanded metal lath, sort of too Road Warrior. I'll vent for everyone who lives in the Prescott area. There is a treated effluent water line that goes from the treatment plant to the city's golf course. Not the first time it's broke, this time major pavement destruction, they say 3 weeks it will be closed. It's a major highway that goes through a bottleneck, so you know the story. All the sand on the road is from that, we are in a drought. I'm driving up to WA state starting tomorrow, so I won't be dealing with it, but who knows elsewhere.....

Funny you ask...... someone said white 'Tamiya' putty (FB Estes group), use your finger to spread/press down. The risk is masking tape pulling it up. I have cross-overed a few things such as painting. Since I'm here, I tripped over the wire for the ancient launch controller and destroyed it (but didn't fall down ð ), knew Hobby Lobby had one, so now I'm in this century. First launch was the Mercury Redstone's first launch. Since it takes two hands to use the launch controller, I started on the tripod, then picked up after I watched where it apogee happened.

I finished a model! ð But not a car, it's the old Centuri/Estes Mercury Redstone. I also 'weathered" it, as the moment Alan Shepard became the first American in space. I was also born less than a month later, and wanted this as a kid, so I'm reliving my childhood.

There is a bird that has taken to pooping on my Honda. I looked out one day and saw it, but didn't have my shotgun handy. Lived here almost 40 years, never had this, and the car is a 2016.

Since I don't live *in* CA, but next door, this is not surprising. I wouldn't buy this book, unless there is a lesson to be learned. -
