Revell (Monogram) 1/24th scale, 1985 Pontiac Fiero
89AKurt replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Regarding changing the engine, or body, Zimmer - Fiero with LS swap. -
I could quote others, but will cover relevant points. There was a magazine in the display, I just don't take many pictures anymore. Choice of GM or Honda must be a regional, or cultural thing. In my town of mostly well off retired folks, mixed with younger school age (Embry Riddle University, Prescott College, Yavapai College age) it's mostly old American iron. There were some very nice Hondas with Acura engines. Another thread y'all talking about engine swaps on Fieros. My opinion, they killed it when it finally got upgraded.

Question about this kit
89AKurt replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You going perfectly shiny, or patina that paint? π€ͺ Tire/wheels makes a huge difference, for something else to change. But the most important thing is to actually finish it, unlike me. π -
This makes me wonder if guys really like working on cars (trucks, boats, etc.). I have been trying to get reliable brakes since I got Fakerri, I'm to the point of wishing I went all new Wilwood brakes system. But no, never listen to my inner voice, again. Having a mechanic shop do it. Last week I showed up, opened both boxes with calipers, and discovered one was completely wrong, they warehouse to the store to the delivery person to the mechanic did not look at BOTH boxes, until me. Today it was the correct caliper, but it leaked like crazy through the cylinders, so this time he is getting 3 calipers just in case. He this week, had a really bad experience with Toyota, correct VIN#, but tie rods were wrong, from the dealer, wasted his time. How does anyone stay in business when parts are always wrong? Good thing this is not my daily or only vehicle. Picture of paint stir stick used by the builder in 1977?

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?

I was looking for the "Irked" thread, makes me wonder if guys really like having projects. Getting "new" remanufactured parts, don't get me going..... Shoulda done a Wilwood upgrade. -

Just a little detail.... where have I heard that before. Fakerri didn't have any back-up lights, and don't know about the wiring. I have a mobil mechanic who got the turn signals and hi/low beam switch and lights working. He will complete the wiring for these cool LED lights, I made the mounts. I didn't want to drill new holes, there were 4 existing holes. Tube steel scavenged from a trashed awning. One is still hooked up to the AAA batteries for testing. What it looks like. π«£ Needed a turn signal switch thingamajig. Made in USA. πΊπΈ Road near me. -

Pleased that there is some progress on resurrecting Fakerri. Last night I dashed to a favorite spot in a subdivision for sunset #2 pictures. Turn signals work now. This morning, Bosa Donuts cruise: Subaru dealership show: An auction: I have a 2016 Civic, not up on the latest Honda stuff, but I like the name:

π Owner said that too. This perfectly preserved (not over restored) 'Vette was for sale, lots of talk but Bee Us walks. The one across the street was sweet with a "stroker" engine. -

What did you see on the road today?

A Miata based kit body. I know someone who does other bodies for Miatas. David: Sherpa, designed for Arctic terrain, but I saw a video of one dominating a Mud Bog. -

I love this! Not because my first car was the family '77 CVCC, but that helps. Have the #20360 kit, but it's way down the build list.
