  1. I have this in my junk yard. I know where those wheels came from. LOL
  2. Dang.... that's friggin sweet! I have 4 different kits of this car, so will look for the aftermarket parts now. Some sources show they exist , but are sold out.
  3. I never saw this as a kid, but when I saw it existed several years ago, oh heck ya I built it! Love the addition of the map.
  4. Love the down and dirty look!
  5. Cool, this is the first time I have linked to Fakebook. Saves me time too. Funny thing, when I was near the end of the process, to save messing up this model, I built three 1:72 scale airplanes.
  6. This beats using up my account space for posting pictures!
  7. In progress.....
  8. Thank you very much everyone! I'm trying out the Fakebook embed feature, this was the beginning of construction:
  9. I'm back...... My dad restored a real one about 50 years ago, when I was a brat. I sort of recall a drive from Flagstaff to our home at Grand Canyon (he was a park Ranger), riding in the rumble seat. I'm giving this to my mom for Christmas, but I'm sure she will let me enter it in contests. It started as a Heller 170V Berline 1:24 scale kit, that I got by mail prior to 1995, when I sketched what I needed to do. I chopped off the roof and used Corian (kitchen countertop) to fabricate the rear part, including the rumble seat. The windshield is also scratch-built, and folds down. The back seat was modified into the front seat. The steering wheel was incorrect 3 spokes. I turned the spare tire cover out of Corian, using a drill press and wood chisel. I cut up about 80% of the interior door panels for various body parts. The engine and chassis are almost box stock, *had to* use real coil springs on the rear suspension. I used Alclad "chrome" paint, and aluminum tape; Testors custom mix of metallic blue, and 'aluminum' (looks much better than so-called 'German Silver' which looked like steel). I made body mounts and grill mount, to screw together. I even carved his hat that I have, that's older than me. The diorama is another story.
  10. Nice! Was considering getting that kit.
  11. Hmmm.... tempted to get it just for the driver. I recently finished a first generation Miata, fixed the lack of engine with a Ford 5.0.
  12. After reading this thread, guess I should throw away these kits and get the Fujimi?
  13. Following.... I've worked some rallies, hearing one of these is memorable.
  14. Good to know, since I got the special edition (green) kit recently.
  15. I couldn't resist getting mine, was told it's the first production run, has four sets of wheels.
  16. Great, so I better check on mine. Tamiya tires tend to dry and crack. I have an Italeri military model that I built decades ago, chemical reaction with the wheel.
  17. I remember seeing in a catalog, think it was Squadron, a resin kit of Boyd's Sportstar. I put in an order, but was refunded. http://www.rodauthority.com/news/remembering-boyd-coddington-and-the-sportstar/
  18. I thought this was going to be about the ICM kits, I have acquired several. I managed to build one of the 1:35 versions, over 300 parts! I also have two of the 1:24 versions which are simpler believe it or not.
  19. I had that poster! It was yellow. I also *need* that Quattro.
  20. My most awarded diorama, based on Tamiya's Vehicross. It started on a hike near Goblin Valley State Park in Utah, Muley Twist slot canyon to be exact, this rock caught my eye, it is a perfect miniature of slickrock. Spent about half an hour to find matching rocks, nothing close. Sawed that rock in half to stretch out the use of it. Found the tree when combing a field of Sagebrush. Chopped the top, fabricated the cover from Corian; based on a concept done by Isuzu. I also scratch-built suspension parts so it would have the stance. Fujimi mechanic modified with shorts, he is looking at the hanging pitman arm. The woman is a Preiser figure, looking at a photo of a Canyonlands map, and saying "no wonder, it says JEEP trail." Also added a snake.
  21. Nice, compact size, nostalgic theme, dirty details, nice work.
