  1. Thanks, that was my intent.
  2. Ok, I'm watching this thread......
  3. I have 4 different kits of this car, the Gunze, Italeri, Fujimi, and Protar. Now I know Revell also made one, but I bet it's not as good, but I still got detail parts yesterday designed for that kit. I'm coming back to read everything......
  4. You have the patience of a saint. Watching this from a great distance. And is there a bowing smiley?
  5. I have always wanted to build a Mercedes C-111, have a Corgi but that's not the same. Does not seem to be any kits available, just this horrid motorized toy from a defunct manufacturer. I just had to get it. It would be a ton of work to correct the body to begin with, but it's basic shape looks correct. Even Jay Leno could not own one, since Mercedes has kept all of them, so my idea is to double up on the sacrilegious aspect, and resto-rod it with using the chassis and engine, and some of the interior, from another legendary car that won Le Mans. What is your reaction to this idea? 1. You are crazy? 2. I'll buy that C-111 for double what you paid for it. 3. Wish I thought of that. 4. Why don't you build something normal like Fords or something? 5. Are you freaking insane?!?!?
  6. Without seeing a picture of what you want, I have to assume it's regular blue jeans. Have you tried using fine screen as a mask? In my example, I wanted to mimic the cloth used by MINI that was a space age looking cloth. I sprayed flat black first, then aluminum. I used a fine brass screen, bent to form as close as possible, and did a quick squirt of the second color. I would think dark blue first, then a lighter blue, perhaps a third really quick mist of almost white.
  7. The first forum I joined was North American Motoring, for MINI Cooper enthusiasts. Before they sold out, it was very active. This was one of the most popular Off Topic threads. Rule is, add only THREE (3) words to continue the story. If you want to cheat by using hyphenated words to slip in more than 3 words, the next person can change the subject. You cannot post until someone else posts. If it gets busy, you might need to edit after someone beats you to the punch line. Once Upon A Time, plastic smelled like
  8. Dang, that's KILLER! I love the unusual cab/pickup configuration. I see you used the Porsche dashboard. Nice you have a whole engine in there. Now you have me wishing to resume on my project that I started last century.

    Ferrari Enzo

I have that kit, scared of it. Looks awesome!
  10. You have been busy!! Dig the Chevy Suburban and Panel. I've been acquiring resin conversions, and complete models recently. Now I'm drooling over an Audi S1 Quattro rally car ("Killer B"), expensive but very different. Thanks for the inspiration.
  11. The photos don't show where the Solvaset blemished the clear paint, the aluminum tape belt line trim is sloppy, the rear window developed a crack during construction, paint chipped off along the bottom of the door needing touchup with the nail "polish", messed up decals on the wheel centers, etc. At the minimum, a light spray, but I've been dying to do a road grime look. Thanks everyone for the comments!
  12. Has anyone done a model that did not have any problems? Very nice job, cool subject too.
  13. All I can say is "wow". I'm anal enough to want to sand some of the parts, is that like cast resin in texture and result?
  14. Too bad I can't "like" everyone's comments! Thank you. That was a landmark car, a legend. One of these days I will build the Paris Dakar resin conversion that I recently ordered from Russia.
  15. My most recent outrageous purchase, was ordering the Porsche 959 Paris Dakar transkit, from Russia. Next more outrageous will be ordering the Audi S1 Quattro rally car, from Europe. I'm in full blown model acquisition mode now.
  16. Seeing that you have posted here over 9,100 times, appreciate you, and everyone else's compliments! I have started a diorama for this car, based on going to the Canyon last day of 2017, took lots of reference photos of the exact spot. Stay tuned.....
  17. WIP from the beginning starting December 27, 2017, 70 hours total:
  18. Final assembly WIP:
  19. First model finished in 2018, but before I weather it. This was a Fujimi MINI ONE RS-42 kit, 1:24 scale, think it was never marketed in the USA because it's right hand drive (RHD). I wonder if Fujimi produced a left hand drive kit, because the body had indents for the wipers to be either side.I shortened it 8" (full scale), tilted back the windshield, used a Porsche 911 windshield for the back, which determined how much it was chopped. I intended the roof to slope down like the Land Rover Evoque (MINI Countryman is similar), it needed sectioning at the rear, shortened 16", and I sloped the leading and trailing profile more. Changed the dash from RHD to LHD. Scratch-built the wing, gas filler is a copy that I made long ago from the Tamiya Isuzu VehiCross. Added big driving lights in the front bumper. Arizona MVD website used to make the license plate. Lowered the stance a little. Stickers cut for the US sidelights. Interior tub was shortened, VW Golf rear was spliced in after removing the seat, seats airbrushed using a fine screen mask for fabric texture, added seatbelts. Rear parcel shelf is a piece of Christmas junk food packaging, painted flat black. Used thick paper for the headliner and pillar covers. Nail "polish" paint, pearl purple, and pearl with purple iridescence white. Used pictures of my 2003 MINI for reference. It was more of a PITA than usual (had to paint roof 3 times), I don't consider it contest winning quality, but would still enter it in a If I Had Designed It category.
  20. Ok..... I already had that kit, and was thinking of building a replica of my dad's Beetle, but someone has to take second and/or third.
  21. I have the newer green kit, and the Italeri (yuk) kit. Watching.....
  22. That's funny, on another thread, said I built the 1965 Grand Prix last century, and here you just finished one. Love the garage setting.

    My 2017 Output

First resin kit, could have fooled me! All nice.
  24. Quality vs. quantity. That is sweet! I built the 1965 Grand Prix last century, so appreciate the chrome work.
