I have a lonnnnnnng history with tornados, which I won't get into here.. But, the 2025 season is approaching, and I was doin a bit of research on past outbreaks and whatnot, and I happened across this picture.. It was taken in the aftermath of the April, 11 1965 Palm Sunday tornado outbreak, somewhere in northern Ohio.. Looks to have been a really clean turquoise an white '55 Bel Air hardtop.. It's identical to the one my uncle Dave has owned since 1957! Anyway, I thought it was cool..

Last one I got anythin done on is one of my all-time favorites, the ol AMT/Ertl '56 Ford Crown Victoria.. It's gonna represent one of the 603 Crown Vics built in '56 with the Skyliner roof option.. If any of you dudes are familiar with powder coating, there's this transparent, incredibly temperature resistant tape that is used to keep threaded parts from getting powder on em, anyway, it's transparent green, dunno what it's actually called, BUT, it is pretty much perfect for replicating the color of the factory tinted plexi top insert on these cars.. Got the Crown installed, roof insert tinted, painted me some whitewalls, an started makin a set of factory fender skirts from the section of roof that I cut out.. Got some California black plates in progress too, BUT, would much rather have some 1956 OHIO plates if any of yall happens to have a pair they'd wanna trade to me.. It'll be two-tone medium green an dark green using factory colors..

Made some improvements on my MPC '72 GTO too.. You know, the '69 Hurst/Olds chassis fits this thing like a glove, has the correct wheelbase, parts, an everything.. I also swapped in the cowl an core support from the H/O body which was pretty straight forward.. It's a totally different kit now, a million times better after that swap.. It's gonna represent one of the 310 GTO hardtops built in '72 with the 455 H.O. and a 4-speed.. I'm sure I'll do somethin about the quarter window area of the roof, and those flippin headlamps.. And because I really dig this kit now, it's gettin those Canuck3D upgrade parts, an a set of them sweet Fireball Snowflake wheels.. Still need an engine, and probably a better set of tires.. It'll be that light Lime Green metallic color that many, many of these were painted..

I also got some stuff done on my AMT Craftsman Plus 1968 GTO.. It's gonna represent one of the 757 GTO hardtops built in '68 with Ram Air and a 4-speed.. Gonna get some of them sweet Fireball Rallye IIs for it.. Removed the GTO lettering from the quarters as the real ones had decals, not emblems, and painted up the taillights properly.. This un will be Verdoro Green.. I absolutely LOVE this kit, and there's plans for at least 3 more builds of em in my future..

Just got over the WORST flu ever.. During moments of lucidity and no pain, I got some stuff done over the past couple weeks.. First one is some fixin on the MPC Super Judge funny car.. I'm thankful that Round2 made this thing available to us at all, for sure! But, I reckon yall probably know that this kit is quite wrong if you wanna build an accurate lookin funny car body.. Check THIS out though, the stock 1969 body in the kit is EXACTLY the same dimensionally as the sweet new '68 GTO kit, and that chassis, glass, and interior tub fits in the 1969 Super Judge body perfectly.. Do with that information what you will.. ANYWAY, the real car that ran in the 1969 season was NOT a stock lookin GTO body like the 1968 season car had, rather, it had a wedge chopped roof, no panel lines except for the doors, no trim, no emblems, had stretched wheel well openings, and some other differences as well.. It also ran Goodyear tires, and had a different set of wheels.. Here's a pic of the real 1969 season funny car : So, I wanted to make my build look a bit more like the real one, WITHOUT gettin in too deep on it so that it'd look a bit cooler on my shelf.. So, I filled panel lines, removed trim, chopped the roof some, totally reshaped the rear spoiler an wheel wells, and I think it looks better now.. The orange glass has also been cut an fitted, an it fits proper, but is just sorta taped in currently.. Also, the kit grille is missing the 1969 grille bars, so I threw a couple of them in too, an it turned out ok.. I'm just gonna finish er up using kit decals an stuff, and it'll suit me.. As a side note, I know where the actual 1969 Super Judge body is, AND I know the dude who owns the original chassis, which became the Boss Bird for the 1970 season.. That car has been fully restored back to the Boss Bird an he races the heel outta that thing!

Yeah, THIS dude was EVERYWHERE and saw EVERY cool car EVER, and lucky for us all, took ALL the photos, and posted em on the internets for us to gawk at! That 1960 Chrysler 300 F coupe posted above is beautiful and rare! It is 1-of-28 coupes built with Code 999 Special Order Paint! Anyway, tailfins an chrome.. I got enough in my digital archives to make this thread 30 pages long! One day, I'll probably make some dedicated threads on here with all of my reference pics by make/model etc.. But, for now, I'll just post a handful.. Also, NOBODY did tailfins as good as Exner did! I've recently gotten hold of the excellent Revell '59 Ford Galaxie Skyliner kit.. The ONLY downside is that it is the Skips Fiesta version with the incorrect Oldsmobile wheel covers.. I'm wanting to get a set of stock Ford wheel covers, which I think the SSP version, and other releases, came with.. I'll trade ya the set of Olds Fiesta wheel covers for the set of Ford ones.. OR, I'll trade ya some other wheels, tires, or parts for em.. If you've got a set of em to trade away, please PM me, an we'll work somethin out! Thanks! Later -

A handful of '57s : Brand spankin new '57 150 Black Widow blastin up Pikes Peak! Kodachrome slide of a '57 Bel Air Nomad wagon with factory fuel injection.. '57 Bel Air El Capitola, man, what an awesome kit build THAT would be, right? This is the very last kustom car built by Sam Barris, and I always get hated on for this, but, this is also the very last truly great kustom car built at Barris Kustoms, as Sam had the lions share of the talent in that outfit.. Everything Barris Kustoms put out after this was either built by someone else, or was some gaudy thing built for movies or TV shows.. The Barris Kustoms golden age ended in 1960, in my opinion anyway, but, whatta I know?? I wasn't even EXTANT until 23 years later! Holy smokes! An original Dealership Showroom license plate, I've heard some people call them booster plates, but idk, for a '57 150 Handyman wagon! This is the ONLY '57 Chevrolet anything dealer showroom plate that I've EVER seen.. I think it'd be so very cool if the guys at the model kit companies that design the decal sheets would include these style of dealer showroom plates instead of some generic personalized license plate that NONE of us ever use.. BESIDES that, I'd absolutely love to find an original one of these for a Bel Air sedan for my dads car.. These pretty much gotta be the ONLY Tri-Five Chevy parts that are NOT available as a reproduction..

Some really cool '56s : '56 Bel Air 2-door sedan in one of my favorite color combinations.. Slick '56 Bel Air sport sedan with rare accessory bumper guards and painted in a pretty uncommon color combination.. '56 Bel Air with tri-tone paint! Probably not factory done, BUT, who really knows? Only one I've EVER seen, and it sure does look pretty sweet! Dig this '56 Bel Air painted by Larry Watson.. These almost look like 1955-56 Ford factory colors, just pearlized.. This would make for one awesome lookin kit build for somebody to do!

So, I'm always on the lookout for old automotive related Kodachrome slides and vintage snapshots, and recently came across some more Tri-Five stuff too cool not to share.. I'll post the '55s first : This new, or nearly new '55 Bel Air drag racin.. Identical pair of '55 Bel Air 4-door sedans somewhere in the woods.. '55 Bel Air Indy Pace Car.. Looks like a 1955 Indiana Dealer license plate.. One of the cars supplied for Official Use, someone put the checkered flag decals on backwards.. The actual Pace Car.. Another Bel Air convertible supplied for Official Use, but Turquoise an White.. Has completely different decals than the Pace Cars, and if I can figure out how to create a sheet of em, I'll be buildin another Revell kit to go with my '55 Pace Car build, looks like 1955 Indiana Dealer plates on this un too..

Yeah, as much as they advertised these things, it is a wonder that a promo was never done.. Especially the Pontiac version.. I was a kid when these things first come out, and they were EV RE WHERE

Oh dang, that's a new one on me, never woulda thought somebody tooled one up! Make it refrigerator white, keep the chipped up paint, and lose the hubcaps, and that's what mine looked like.. Thanks for posting this!

I mean, the decal sheets that Rays offers are second to none AND priced modestly! Naturally, a great many people wanna get hands on em.. And, so far as I can tell, there's Ray, and one other fella, and that's the extent of their operation.. Those factors combined, not even mentioning the print company, add up to : EXPECT THERE TO BE A WAIT TIME personally, my only complaint about em, is really a non-issue, which Ray will probably get around to eventually, and that is I wish he had more Indy Pace Car sets available.. Big takeaway - You WILL wait a while, but when yer order does show up, you'll be blown away, and curse because you didn't order MOAR!

Would be sweet if they did one of them newer Alfa-Romeo Disco Volantes by Touring.. Such a cool car!
