  1. Have know Mark for years, great guy to do business with. Luckily here in the Phoenix area we get to deal direct at a lot of the shows, which is really bad for my credit card.
  2. Those 2 look like the old Hubley (Entex-Minicraft- etc) kits.
  3. Herb Deeks did a resin repop of the Cooper years ago with added white metal and photoetch parts. Was really a nice kit. Unfortunately the one I had was in the bunch of models I had stolen a couple of years ago.
  4. What about the McKee. It ran at least one race in 1967 IIRC. I would say that it was much heavier then a BBC, especially since the Chevy was aluminum and its a lot wider. There was a KB hemi powered super mod from Montana or somewhere in that area that I saw at the old Copper Classic a couple of times. The last time there it got away from him in turn 2 and almost killed him. Never heard of the car again.
  5. Welcome. You are way down south. Haven't been to Douglas in years.
  6. Some nice photos. Now that's it is getting cooler have thought about heading out to a couple of the truck stops and so some truck fanning.
  7. I thought you were more over towards the Biltmore area east of the 51. You were right in by my dentist and optometrist. We're finally getting under a 100 and actually clicking a few high 60's at night.
  8. At 68, I don't expect to be around long enough to see that happen. Nothing against the idea of electric cars, but until battery time gets longer and recharge time shorter, not for me. I like being able to jump in my car in Glendale, AZ; head to Anaheim, CA and get there in roughly 6 hours. Then after getting a hotel room, head to a couple of hobby shops and grab some dinner and maybe run by a couple of old friend's places to see if their home. Right now not sure they're close to a car that will make the drive in one shot. For sure, none that would do the running around without probably a overnight charge. Then what about when you get ready to come back. Hang out at the charging station for 6 to 8 hours waiting for a recharge. Especially if I want to sneak out the back way through Carbon Canyon then to Pomona and on to a stop at Pegasus. Which is also the thing with self driving cars. With both since this is a really big country with lots of empty space you're talking about a lot of major infrastructure, physical and digital, that needs to be created. Have noted most of the people talking up both of these objectives are people that live in urban areas and seem to never leave them. Unless its to go to the airport, get on a plane and flyover everything to get to their urban destination.
  9. The original owner had some kind of spinal column problem were he had limited movement. So he had a shop do the conversion were he could walk into the back without having to bend and twist. I think it was original a Denver area car and was build there, unless the memory has short circuited with something else.
  10. Will agree with that. Besides kits like the Hippie Reptile dragster, etc. I didn't buy when they were new. Thought they were junk then, think even less of them now. At least when they were new, they were a feeble marketing attempt to fit into the zeitgeist of the time, now just an even more feeble marketing attempt to trade on a very limited and dying nostalgia. The European and Asian manufacturers seem to be doing well with new tooling, sort of like their automobile manufacturers did with new ideas. And when you look at the prices that Round2 is asking for this stuff, they're not that much cheaper then the new tools.
  11. Hadn't seen this thread before. I started hacking on the Revell reissue of the DB4. This is 1st stage, did some more then my fat white cat sat on it and broke the windshield post. Maybe should dig it out and look at it again.
  12. Here's a link to a English club I found in one of the English antique magazines I get. Might have something that would help you. http://www.tramwayinfo.com/Deftlrs.htm
  13. Haven't been with the building program too much lately so trying to catch up on editing photos for various shows since our season is getting started again. This is a nice street faire that the neighborhood businesses and association puts on and usually have an interesting turn out of cars. https://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2016-03-05-Melrose-on-7th-Ave-Phoenix-AZ/i-JmZGpBc Was going to give a few examples, but won't upload.
  14. Heard yesterday afternoon that there will be no more Phoenix International Raceway after the end of the year. ISC sold the naming rights to ISM Multimedia with the AZ governor, CofC and ISM going on about how this will be a big opportunity for multimedia use and enhancing the experience. Maybe making the racing better might be more important. Other then going out for Indy Car tests last year, don't think I've been to the track since the last Grand American or IRL race. The Cup stuff just got too expensive for basically a marketing and party circus with the racing almost an afterthought. Plus all my good photo sites were pretty much eliminated or fenced off. I guess they're going to completely reconfigure the track also with the finish line moved to what is now the back dogleg area and new main grandstands build there with were the front stands are now being a high dollar motor home parking area.
  15. Thanks, missed it this year; but will try to get it on the list for next year.
  16. Yeah, that's Sanderson Ford at 51st Ave and Maryland in Glendale, AZ about a half mile from were I live so can stroll down to the shows. Traded my 89 Ranger in there for a 2000 Focus. On my 3rd Focus from them now, both the others got totaled. 25 years driving in Southern Cal traffic and a couple of minor fender benders. 2 cars totaled here in the last 9 years .. and people diss SoCal drivers. Been open since late 50's with the current owner is I think the son-in-law. He's a real car nut. They have a large facility since they were also a Ford Truck dealer and he's adapted one of their buildings over as a museum for his cars and usually has one displayed on the sales floor. During the shows they usually run tour groups over to the museum building.
  17. Thanks, Mike. I'm usually shooting cars that I would like to model if one is available, so try to shoot with that in mind. So sometimes means some sort of funky photos as far as being a "good photo", but has some detail that I would. The old stick the camera under the frame and hope you have it pointed right situation; which is were I'll say that digital cameras have made that so much easier. Another show coming up in a couple of weeks at Sanderson, but as usual will probably be a year before I get them edited and up on site.
  18. To put another wrench in the mix, does that kit have a Ford style chassis under it. Since the Aeromax I had from them sure didn't.
  19. Actually this is almost getting me to like football a little.
  20. Haven't looked at one in a long time, but did the 65 Fairlane Mod Stocker reissue have enough of the stock front inner fender wells-shock towers to adapt in? From memory even thought they really changed the exterior sheet metal for 65, underneath there wasn't much of a change. Here's a 64 Fairlane engine bay.
  21. Will be following this. Have the 2nd version IIRC I bought years ago at a car swap meet. Was marked 'should be complete, minor assembly'. Took a quick look and decided whoever started it, probably just freaked at the parts count and gave up. Figured for 5 bucks couldn't go wrong. Maybe watching your's go together will be the kick I need to get going on mine.
  22. Nice work on that. Agree with espo about them looking nose high when new. I remember when I saw my 1st Mustangs thought the same thing. A little late now, but think the plug boots should have been black.
  23. Why would you want to be nice to one, let the rats do it. Per the title of one of my favorite Snakefinger albums: "Chewing Hides The Sound".
