  1. Thank you, also somewhat an asocial sociopath. Just old habits die hard from my SDS-Weatherman days, but the primary reason is I'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay for the vampire power usage. And freely admit to being somewhat a Luddite when it comes to most electronic and digital technology.
  2. Been looking for that one. Do have a card model of similar to this one.
  3. So you're saying even if I don't have an internet setup on the phone, there is still a connection? So they can be monitoring you at any time. I only use it for calls, don't even do texting (actually don't know how to and no interest in learning. Was wondering what that flight mode thing was since this is the 1st phone I've seen with it. Think I might just continue with taking the battery out if I'm not using it, only make 5 or 6 calls a month on the average anyway. And yes, when I'm not using the computer, I turn off and unplug everything...and if I'm just doing photo editing and don't need the internet most times I unplug the modem.
  4. My phone going off at 4 or 5 in the morning. Then the alarm going about every 10 minutes. After finally getting up, finding it and checking it; turns out to be an Amber Alert from Yuma 200 miles away. Had to take the battery out since those and like last week with flash flood warnings you can't just turn it off. If it has power, the alert overrides and turns the phone back on. Haven't been able to figure out how to turn them off so I don't get them. Took it to the store a week ago and the guy there thought he had it set up were it would have an audible alarm. Wrong. I don't want to get them, I don't care, its not my problem. My old phone that got broke when my car got wreaked a few months ago didn't do this. This is already the 2nd one I've had and had to order it. The store only had those smart phones and got the simplest one they had. After 4 days without being able to consistently even make a call, took it back and had them order the one I have now. To tie this with the line a few posts back about Enterprise. Had to rent a car after the wreck. Besides my phone no they wanted a 2nd number. Found an old card in my wallet from Phoenix PD when they came out for one of the incidents when I was still bus driving so gave that to them. Guess they never called it since they didn't say anything when I brought the car back. Just went off again. Time to go around with their tech department again. I hate most technology, especially phones and cars. My black wall phone and my 52 Kaiser.
  5. As mentioned was happy with the 'body' of the tractor, so decided to start over on it. Got to this point pretty quick since at least the 2nd time for a lot of it. But now sort of stalled out again. Back to working on the Stalinetz crawler and the Renault 4cv.
  6. That's cool looking, even stranger then some of the Tatra armour cars I like.
  7. There's a few. The AMT Cobra, 65 Ford Galaxie and one probably a surprise to most people knowing me basically as a rivet counting replica stock guy: the AMT Garlits dragster (bet I've build a dozen of those over the years)
  8. Have bought 3 or 4 new Revell kits in the last couple of years, The only Round 2 kits I can think of off the top of my head was the 25 T double kit in that time period. Now I have bought stuff from Revell of Germany, ICM, Belkits, Mobeius, Heller, Simil'R, Tamiya, Ebbro, Italeri and several of my weird card model kits. NEW KITS (for the most part) that interest me. So I'm saying Round 2 hopefully have made some profits off all the reissues, so lets see some new tooling; or at least, some major revisions on something. For example, the MPC 29 Ford truck is most of the 28 Ford tudor sedan underneath. Tool up a new tudor body. Same for the 32 Chevy cabriolet. Heck, I'd been happy to see the Chevy back out as is.
  9. Thanks, that may be the solution for not having room for a spray booth. Only have 2 places were I have access to a outside window or sliding door to vent it and power plugs also. One is totally in the way in the living room and the other is on the kitchen counter between the sink (good) and stove (bad). Mount it and the compressor on a cart, roll it out, hook up the outlet hose to the window, plug it in and spray, unhook and roll it back into a corner or the closet. Small 1 bedroom condos sort of suck, but it was all I could afford at the time. Even with mortgage and association fee still cheaper then a 1 bedroom apartment which would have been probably much smaller..
  10. I don't think a good portion, if not a majority, of the newer younger builders are really interested in most of those. I didn't buy most of them when they were new and reasonably priced, sure not going to now.
  11. Not interested in any of those. Glad to see at least a sort of new tool with the Camaro. They need to step up and do some new tooling.
  12. https://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2017-07-13-KFOC-Nationals-Prescott-AZ/i-QdMmkLb Here's the link to my photo site. Guess they're too big to load a couple here.
  13. Hadn't heard that. It'd been many years since I'd last seen him at a Super Truck race at Tucson Raceway when he was flogging the RC diecasts.
  14. OK! ...But...here's one that was actually build for utility purpose at the Texas Agriculture Museum in Lubbock.
  15. Good job, another one that we need a new tool on. Since it would seem like with some preplanning a early and late series DB4 plus a Zagato version could be done and maybe even a DB5.
  16. No models, but a book at Half Price Books with a 50% off coupon: Jaguar E-Type Six-Cylinder Restoration & Originality Guide. 30 bucks original price, with all the discounts $8.13 with tax. And as if I wasn't an annoying enough rivet counter of E Jags before; now I've got another 244 pages of minutiae. Now as someone mentioned recently if we could get a new Tamiya or Fujimi Enthusiast level tool.
  17. Ok you're excused for missing the meeting last night. Good to hear the Mrs. is doing better. Always intended to go check out that hill and area from the area, just never get around to. May go to the airport restaurant for lunch next week and crawl around over there since I hear we're only going to be in the low 100's next week.
  18. 1950 is a bit slim, too bad the Studebaker (I think that was supposed to be a 50) that AMT was talking about didn't get done. I like the Chevy pu since I was one of the people heavily lobbying for on. So much so that John O'Neil (former Ertl-AMT brand manager) went I ran into him at a show a few months before it was announced told me 'to quit bugging me, its coming'. Did finally get some Hudsons even if they weren't from AMT. Now if I could convince them about the Tucker.
  19. That fits into the category of "because you can, doesn't mean you should".
  20. Might want to take a look at this: https://sklep.gpm.pl/en/modelcard/tanks/1/25/rolls-royce-frames I have one with the laser cut frames and it looks really nice at least on the pages, haven't started it.
  21. The Complete Car Modeller has plans for a 1909 40/50 roadster. Doesn't have much detail for the chassis and drivetrain. I think I have the other book, just need to search for it. Was putting the other book away and checked another set of shelves and found The Art of the Automobile in Miniature. It has a multiple page set of drawings for a 1912 40/50 London-Edinburgh Tourer. There's 4 or 5 pages of chassis, engine, driveline drawings.
  22. Those and going back to horseless carriages are were I really get going, love brass. Along with steam traction and electric vehicles. How about a Sentinel 5T Steam Waggon or a Baker Electric for total blue sky dreaming?
  23. Thanks George! Figured if I ever get to them, that stripping and priming several at a time would be the way to go. I knew about the diecast cancer but hoping it won't be much of a problem. Most of the ones I have are older Burago or Polistol pre-China era. And now that 2CV kits are available don't have to do that one. Like I said I work at slow pace. Thanks for the tip on etch with black paint although don't think I had any planned for black.
  24. Yes, since I've heard that its a real challenge.
