Looks good! The more large scale I see, the more I feel the need to conquer one of those. I know they are more work, but I'm sure the satisfaction with the finshed product far outweighs it! All of these monsters I see built up on here look phenomenal, and yours is no exception. I also want to add, the price sure was right too!

After trying to build two IBM platform computers over the years and failing miserably, I bought a Mac about a month and a half ago. The best thing I've ever done. I am not a computer guy, and the Mac really does it for me. All I use mine for is music, pictures and surfing the 'net. It is ideal for me. When I bought it, I got home , took it out of the box, powered it up, and 10 minutes later it was asking me if I wanted it to connect to the net using a neighbor's wireless router! There is NO WAY I could have done that with a PC. I know there will be people saying how PC's are better than Macs but it really comes down to each person. Try going to an Apple store and using the different models on display. Once you get used to the OS, you'll find that it is really easy to use. As for preference, that is for you to decide. If you think I am biased, well, two of my PC friends who have made a living working on them BOTH told me to get a Mac!

Truckster's, The Next Generation!
dub replied to Jairus's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wicked, so far. I really want to see the transmission set-up. Keep the doses... er, I mean updates coming! -
I'm lovin' it! This thing is gonna look sooo bad-ass dumped to the floor like that. Is it going to be curbside? That doesn't matter, it's sweet either way. I'm liking it without the skirts, but need to see the skirts to know for sure. Can't wait to see it done.

There are too many pipes for sure. I do see TWO little V-belts driving the blower, and the drive could be done by flipping the rear-end, although this one looks like chain drive. The whole thing reminds me of a VW though! -

It's either going to be the filler up front on a rear engine configuration, ooorrrrrr, it could be the 'secret afterburner' on the back -
The bar has been raised.... I've seen quite a few pics of these now, and I have to say they are all nice but this one really takes the cake! I'm happy the only one of these I plan to build is the fake Miami Vice version. There's no way I'll ever get that level of detail on mine! I wouldn't mind seeing that one in print in my favorite magazine.(hint hint )

Better choices are Tamiya or Plastikote. Tamiya is the best but it is priced accordingly. Plastikote is nearly as good but getting hard to find. Both dry very quickly. Sorry, I tried to re-do the post and wound up with two posts.

Plan on putting it away for a couple of months. If you put it on heavy, like I did, It will take forever to dry. After I tried days in the sun on a windy window sill with no effect I bought a dehydrator to speed up all of my builds. 48 hours in that and it still smelled like it was gassing out! I don't know why testors enamel is this way but it has been forever. You have two choices: strip it and start over with another brand of primer or wait. and wait. and wait....

Neat site! Very in depth. I was wondering what a turbojet was. Make sure you look at the link with the lawn tractor(!) pic, wacky stuff...

Thanks guys! I still need to work on my photography. I guess my paint skills are a little ahead of the learning curve and my photo skills behind the curve! I need to figure out a reliable photo box with some quality lights.

Photobucket can also do several pics at once by clicking the square next to each pic to get a check mark and scrolling to the bottom of the screen. There is a key labeled "generate HTML tag". If you click it, it gives you 3 or 4 different ways to post. Go to the one for 'message boards' and highlight all of them. You can paste that directly into your post with no typing. This way gets you a clump of pictures all at once. I do it this way and like Izzy said preview, preview, preview. Each pic is on its own line and I find it easy to type a description in between if needed.

How Does One Post Pics On This Board?
dub replied to Dave in Seattle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is there any way to make a "sticky" thread at the top of "Tips, Trick and Ideas" with a tutorial about this? We get this question about once a month around here. It's not a big deal, but would be nice for all the newbies to computers to have at their disposal. I'll admit when I joined the board, I didn't know how to do anything but post text. I was fortunate to have others who asked the questions for me then that got the answers I needed. I just think it would be a good idea because most of these questions are posted by people who have looked but didn't find. As for other board utilities, all I've been doing is experimenting with different features and everythig is pretty easy. Just try something if you aren't sure, we're all patient people here.(if not, wrong hobby! ) p.s. Thanks Harry for the answer. Your advice is what helped me before. -
Holy Porsche paraphanilia, Batman! That's some impressive stuff. Wish I could have been there. Thanks for the great pics! Congrats for your win too.

Very nice! How old is your son? He is already a better modeller than me! Paint is excellent, the interior is well done and the engine is nice and tidy. What more could you want from the future of our hobby! :D

Looks good! I'm a pushover for this body Silverado anyway. That is a Testors kit, no? I can tell it isn't the AMT/Ertl version. Do you have any underside pics? I'd like to see how the suspension is set up. That is a pretty cool shade of blue and a great job of shooting there. What did you use for paint? Oh yeah, great pics too!
-
Oh, you can see the build thread here

Fortunately, this is out of box. There is one picture of the stock car on the box. I guess they thought the stock car was too plain to sell the kit. If they would have painted the stock car red or yellow instead of dark blue then it might be a different story. Thanks for the comments.

Ja, I'll second that DAS IST GUT!!! That's about all the german my grandparents taught my mom when she was a kid, (her parents were Austrian) so I actually understand that!

Wow, I can't believe I didn't watch that until now! I am a junkie for audio of engines and this was a needed fix of the good stuff! Out of all those cars that were running 4 cylinders, the MG Metros sounded the best. Whew, they are deeeep sounding for a 'banger! Of course, the Audi and the Porsche had the best sound. I really love the scene about 3:30 into the vid with the quattro on pavement, going through a little town uphill. Almost all of those backfire pops you hear sound like gunshots in person! Man, they just echo forever when you're in the forest waiting for them to go by. You sure do know when an Audi is coming!
-
I don't have anything against Ford(esp. Ford of Europe), but the true king was the quattro. The main reason is because until it came along, nothing else was even close to as competent as it was. If you ever get the chance to see/buy the video: "The quattro Experience" DO IT. The audio of the cars alone is worth it. It showcases not only the rally cars but the 87-88 IMSA team as well. I used to have a copy of it but lost it over the years to loaning it out.

More November Cpmcc Meeting Pics
dub replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Good thing the most disturbing images there weren't in Lyle's pictures! I'll just say two others joined Dan in "wiggin' out"! I also wanted to share a shot that just happened... I did not go out of my way to catch a master and his latest finished masterpiece in the same frame: Hows about that??? -
Oh yeah! Rally drivers have bigger stones than any other race driver out there. I've spectated SCCA's North American version in Wellsboro, Pa., and while it's no WRC, it is as close as you can get around here. The good news is the Audi's, Cossies, Subies and Mitsu's are all present along with a smattering of more common and uncommon cars. I haven't been up for a couple years, but I've seen it 3 times and every time is impressive. The spectators actually get to see the cars up close and talk to the drivers in the town 'square' twice during the day of the race. I don't know what's more fun: driving to the stages , watching the cars fly by in the woods at high speed , eating at the "World's Famous Wellsboro Diner" (really), or camping in the pouring down rain (does almost every year!) It's usually the first weekend of June every year. I highly recommend doing it at least once. It's a great way to get a big taste of the big boys close to home.

Very cool! Now that's a Hummer you might catch me driving around. I would be wearing earplugs though! Lookin' good Roberto, keep it up!

Finshed 'er up last night. I premiered it today at the meeting with good response. I am pretty happy with how it came out. I may still try to tweak one of the wheels to be a bit straighter, and the hood fitment bothers me too. Sure does feel good to be finished with another one though. Well, here she is:
