Ya, this MY favorite one of the three also! I actually have the Aug 07 issue of R & C magazine and loved that sketch pad. When I saw the Aug/Sep issue of MCM I was pleasantly suprised. These are compelling me to do one as my next custom job. Anyway... LOVE the build so far! I will be watching this one the whole way through.

And they only get faster and faster as more of them go by! I noticed it and I not even 10 years older than you! Happy Birthday! -
Night Time Action Photography
dub replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lookin' great, man!! I have always admired night time motorsport shots. One question though. Were you alowed to use a flash for some of those? It kinda looks like it... If so, I wonder what the drivers thought of it. -
Big Lots score: '72 Chevy P/U, '05 300C, '61 Ranchero(another) and the Silhouette show rod by Bill Cushenbery. The selection here was surprising; almost as many as a craft store. I could have bought at least two more, but I should have only bought two to start with! Ah well, I have a ways to go to catch up to a lot of you here for "stash" size

Welcome, fellow young 'un! Its nice to see more younger folk like you and I on here to mix up the ages better. If you've come here to learn, then you're in the right place! This forum is THE best on the web for skill level. The talent collected here is increible. I have a similar story, just picked up my tools again with a seriousness like never before. With the knowledge I've gathered from here, I am amazed with what I am capable of! I hope your experience is the same. Oh yeah, nice taste in your 1:1 car modifications. Very refreshing!

Sup.... Ah, enough of the supers already! VERY SWEET! definitely the only kind of Mustang II that I would ever be caught dead in.

I'm pretty sure I saw pics of this in the Toledo albums posted and all I can say is WOW! Great job!!!

Good point. However, some of us are just glad to see the subject tackled at all! Very cool to see a Corrado in any artwork. It would be cool on a t-shirt, though. T-shirts can be caricatures; they don't have to be 100% accurate. I do agree that the wheel is out of proportion but I didn't notice. Don't get down on these responses, we are just trying to offer help. Please do share more!!!

That's what's funny, most toothpastes aren't even gels anymore! I should know better, you old-timers don't use anything thats been invented in the last 2 decades!
-
Looks like we do now! Tha toothpaste thing, I always forget that. I'm pretty sure that it needs to be paste not gel. Gels are usually transluscent green or blue. Someone chime in here?

Great color! Love the paint work. The B-pillar looks awesome too! I must do that to one also, but it's going to be the next one. The exhaust through the bumper is sweet too. Great job with a great kit

VERY NICE!!! Looks great, colors, stance, photography and all. I do really like early 'Stangs anyway, so yours hit the spot. Great job!!! :D
-
Looks fantastic! That color just jumps off my screen and into my lap! The black vinyl top just sets off the blue even more. Great foil job too. Looking forward to the finished product.

I like them both but I love the merc! I like the blending of pro-touring with traditional kustom. I think you pulled it off quite nicely. Its easy to screw up when mixing different flavors but you have mastered this one! Sweet job on both!

Yessss... definitely TASTY!!! Very cool!

WOW! This thread should be "hot milk"! Those flames are sweet and not something I'm ready to tackle for a long time. Good job!

Thanks for the great read! It's really too bad about the state of the company today. I really hope somebody with a passion for all things styrene picks them up and restores them to at least some of their former glory. It's so sad to see the former King dead! (at least for now) On a different note, wouldn't it be something to find one of those boxes in the last picture of the feature somewhere today, still sealed? Perhaps there's one out there in the back room of an old mom 'n pop hobby shop(or gram 'n gramps, like the one near me) waiting to be discovered. What would be the best find of kits in one of those be? I assume that each box was filled with all the same kit, no? If not, even better! What would you want to find?

So that's what you weathered car guys use! Seriously, being a newbie to the painting thing, I've found that hobby spray lacquers are by far the easiest to use and the most forgiving. Tamiya, as always, are excellent(surprise!). Testors Model Master enamels are decent too, but do require longer dry times. I'm not ready to invest in an airbrush yet, but I definitley WILL be adding one to the arsenal of tools before too long. My builds will only get better with it. I'm sure crawling before walking is the best way for me though.
-
WOW! Like always, your builds are top of the pile. I can't imagine anyone calling an of your builds not "pleasing to the eye"! The most important thing though, is that now YOU are satisfied. Man, that paint! man, that paint. man, thaaaatttt............(now staring at pics frozen, drooling, not blinking, barely breathing...)

...they could tell you, but then they would have to kill you.

The key to the brake fluid is fresh fluid. It does work, but once it has sat around for a week or more it doesn't strip anything. Another issue is small styrene parts float in the stuff so you have to somehow hold them down. For a rotten vandal it works fine on your 1:1's paint but isn't worth the trouble for us scale guys.
-
He didn't slip it by all of us! I shot him an IM earlier in the evening.

Ditto on the color. Great job with the paint's finish too! I actually don't mind the flames as much, mostly because I can't apply decals that well yet. How can I not like them when the job is flawless? What little bit of the interior we can see looks good too.(only big downfall of this kit is the lack of interior visibility IMHO ) I know I'm not sick of seeing Mercs yet so keep 'em coming! Still have to finish mine...
