Very cool build of an obscure Lambo from the late 70's. Rocky had one of those in the second or third movie. I think the name Lamborghini used for the 1:1 car was Jalpa. I would love to find one of those and swap a set of wheels and tires from a different kit. Everything else is too good to change!

I still haven't figured out how to resize my pics yet. What I did to offset it a little, was turn down the resolution on my camera. That was really easy to do with a simple setting change. You don't have to turn it down all the way; just a bit. Also, this website will resize them for you if you get a photo account with fotki or Photobucket. Just a couple solutions for you. Oh yeah, ######, I forgot to say: Nice gasser! I do like the color you picked and how it looks on the car.

Pretty nice! Me likey Got an engine in there?

Alright, one last update. After this, you'll see it over in Under Glass when I finish it. The interior is now completely done. Man, that decal on the center of the dash looks terrible! I could not get it to stick until I tried CA... not such a great idea. Once the decal touched it, instantaneous bond. At least the gauges came out ok! I also wanted to experiment with some natural light and the camera. Some came out pretty good and others, well... There's only about a half a dozen things left to do, so that's all on this thread. See you in Under Glass!

Perfectly! Thank you

I haven't used it either, but I do have a question about it too. What is the dried glue like? As in, can it be used to "grow" a part in casting? There was a thread in this area a little while ago about shrinking and growing parts using white glue. It would seem that this stuff would be ideal for growing parts. Is the texture of the dried glue workable?

This is one great pair of builds! Lots of inspiration here! I can't get enough of rat rods and traditional rods right now. This will keep me going on the one I've started and might even cause me to start another one! Thanks for sharing the fine work shown off by the great pictures!

At my age, the only Lambo that existed to me for a long time was the Countach. Until the show Top Gear did a segment on the Miura, I never even thought twice about them. Yours really keeps that new found love going! Very nice build there sir! I can hardly wait until Sat. to see it.

Any Aussie Ford Fans Out There?
dub replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, you mean to tell me that you guys actually chose to be weird!? Did not know that! I remember in grade school in the '80's they taught us the metric system. When we asked why, they told us that some day we'd be using it in America. (HA!) When I did a stint in electronics school they taught us again and it stuck that time. It actually comes in handy now at work. Germans love the metric system and I sell VW parts. Thanks for the info! I will definitely file that one away for future use. -

Not to be a smart alleck, but no one ever remembers to look at the speedometer. North of the border uses clicks(KMH) instead of MPH. just $.02 I don't think Bill needs to tackle that with a down under build 'cause it's too small to matter! -
Very nice build of one of the few Japanese cars that I actually like. I don't hanker after too many Asian cars in general, but this one always did something for me. It's probably because the turbo cars were forbidden fruit for us Americans. That seems to add desireablity for me. This is one kit I'll add to my stash when I stumble across one.

Enzo Ferrari Would Have Been Proud!

It's such mind blowing work that we're all speechless!!! Really, some cool pumpkin carving there! Halloween generally isn't my favorite "holiday". This did make this year's a little better for me, though! -
It took me a few seconds to make out what they were, but I caught that too. But, what I really like is the mailbox on top of the carbs! Keep it up Virgil! Every update just blows my mind.

ROFL!!! Man, that's the first time I've ever been called a "computer guru"! If you say so! Thanks for the kind words, all!

YAY! This is great that all of us newbies get to see how one of Bill's extra detailed builds comes together. We really are not worthy! I'm sure your updates will be the highlights of my visits here in the coming weeks. I can't wait for more! I'm gonna grab some popcorn, and sit back to enjoy the show!

A freakin' GTO!?!? See, that's why I love this hobby! A person can take one car and turn it into something completely different. That, and leave no trace of what you started with! Great job!!!

Just a quick update... When I broke down the front suspension to adjust the ride height, I screwed up the paint on the strut tower with the CA de-bonder. (careful with that stuff; heed the warning on the label!) so I masked her up and shot 'er again: ...that's better! Next, I figured a test fit of the interior with side panels and dash in place was a good idea. You can see a little of the headliner color on the left above. Lookin' good! Just needed a tiny bit of shaving off the top of the firewall to clear the dash. I'm not too worried about the glass changing the fitment because they attach to troughs on the outside of the body. Here's a progress shot of the interior: Just need to finish the dashboard assembly and the controls and I can call the interior done. Closer and closer....

No problemo! Glad I could help.

Very cool build! This is another small car from Ford with a lot of class. Too bad they never shipped 'em over here from Europe. Are you going to build it as "just finished a stage", or "just starting a heat"? Those rally pit crews in the SCCA keep those cars spotless when they aren't running. I would guess the WRC guys do the same. I've been to plenty of STPR events in Wellsboro Pa. and have actually seen a few of these in the metal. Very impressive cars both static and at speed in the forest! I wil be keeping an eye on this one!

Go in to your topic and do a full edit of your first post. Once you're in the edit screen, the topic title is in a box at the top of the screen. It's right above the box you type in for text. All you have to do is click the pointer in the box with the title and you now have a cursor to type with. Change away! I actually just went and checked it in one of my threads because I wanted to know too!

Love all of them! (except for that last one, brings out my acrophobia! {fear of heights} ) It seems like we have similar tastes. I have to say, I agree with your signature! Build quality certainly dosen't appear to be lacking either. I'd be proud of any of those. (seriously, even the last one! ) Keep it up! P.S. that New Beetle 'vert/roadster is really sweet! Makes me want to own a 1:1 car I never would otherwise!

I second that. I was going to start a thread, but didn't know where to put it. We miss you, Harry!

WOW I'm just about speechless! As always, Bill, your work is a rare treat for us styrene benders. Thanks for sharing!

That stuff reminds me of regular milk jug plastic. If it really is, It will take paint, but it's fussy if not sealed first. I remember reading in some magazine somewhere(I wonder which one? ) about it. Can't remember if it doesn't take lacquer or enamel though....
-
What a great idea! I'm gonna use this one for sure. The only thing I would do differently is paint after cutting and bending into place. I worry about the paint flaking off if you bend it too much after painting. I don't know, is my fear baseless? Either way, it's still a great tip! Thanks!
