  1. Good job. I'm not a NASCAR fan by any means, but this build, there's something about it.... I don't know, maybe I'll go buy some Timber Wolf chew and think it over?
  2. Not to be rude, but I think he meant the 1:1 car...
  3. I am right with you on the black and white, Marc. I have a 61 Ranchero on the 'bench I'm doing in b&w also. It's your kind of build too. I'll get pics here someday.... Anyway, this Coronet is suited to the colors(of lack therof ) quite well. Your builds always come out a cut above, and I can't wait to see this one done!
  4. That is one nasty Merc! I love it! Now I have a few ideas for my second one of those I build. I'll tell you what, if SAE were still around, this would be kit of the year. This is only the beginning. Just wait until more of the builders who work slower finish theirs.... I can't wait to see what else is out there lurking on other's workbenches.....
  5. Nice! I like the 'vert shoebox Ford. Are you gonna have the tail draggin' on that one? Looks like a classic lead sled... Good job on the pics too!
  6. You need to change your Options key. It is in the blue band at the top of each thread, right above the first post. The key is on the right side of the screen. Click it and select Standard viewing mode. That should get you back to easily viewable. HTH!

    '49 Mercury

Randy, this thing is sweet! It's so creamy I'm getting thirsty for a vanilla milkshake! The pearl without the clear looks very period correct. I just love it. I must finish my 49 sometime soon... We need to have a Merc theme club meet some time next year. Maybe we'll even get Bill to build his!
  8. Very cool! I saw the thread thinking "chopper", but I was surprised. These do look very realistic. The spoke thickness is the only giveaway. How difficult was it?
  9. Have you thought about widening the steelies? That would fit right in with the current trends. I think it would look perfect. Just a suggestion....
  10. Yeah, this body is better for the theme. I can picture any number of 60's paint schemes on this one! The gold and pearl white should do nicely. Eagerly awaiting future progress.
  11. Cool. Any pics of the other body?
  12. Talk about humble! ...and funny too! All on the same line of text! Let me tell you Izzy, every build I see of yours on here gets much better than the last. You really have the eye, and your ability is up there with the rest of the masters on this board. Don't sell yourself short. ....except maybe on that crazy part!

    Urban Assalt

This was one of those "why didn't I think of that?" color schemes. Well done for a couple of hours! (....even for a Honda)
  14. Yeah, this thing looks great! The rust showing through the paint and chrome is perfect. I love it!
  15. Looking good so far. I would do the top chop if it were mine. Have you decided on the front end/grille yet?

    Deuce Rat Phaeton

Thanks to all for the kind words. I would say that was one of those learning experiences that was a ton of fun! These are addictive Randy, so look out! I'm surprised that Dan was surprised I did this.... I haven't built enough of anything to have a set pattern yet. I'm still trying to find a favorite type of build. These are up there, though. I will say that the shiny ones really give me pleasure once done, but the fear factor of screwing up is stronger the whole time. Yeah Mike, Dan does need to finish something because then I can say "you would be my last guess for the builder because you don't build....." Thanks Randy for the pic. It looks great! It went right in the folder with the other build pics when I saw it. I think I'm gonna build a couple trucks next to get them out of my system and then I'm not sure.... I'll figure it out! :)
  17. Those hydro pumps are awesome! They're machined metal, right? I've been around a few lowriders in my time, they're just not my thing, but this is a clean build like most of them are. I do like the color, and I can't wait to see the engine. Keep it up!
  18. I can't work with the TV on because it's too much of a distraction. The repeated commercial loops get to me a lot too. I do, however, get more done when I am listening to music from one of many sources like: hard drive, CD, DVD-A, SACD, MiniDisc, or even internet radio (Swissgroove.ch if you want an idea of what kind of music I'm into. If you added Zappa and a bit of classic rock to their playlist you wouldn't have too many holes in my collection. ) I haven't tried to do any vinyl because I have to keep getting up every 15 to 20 minutes to change what's on the 'table. I guess I could do it while I'm painting because I move around more between the spray area, the dehydrator and the bench. Although, I could just use the record side as a timer for the dehydrator....
  19. I think I can sum it up with: MORE PICS PLEASE!!!
  20. OK, here it is! This was my first "dirty" model. It was also my first rod that I've finished in 1:25. I must say this was also the most fun I've had building a model car, ever, hands down. I am going to have a hard time building shiny cars for a while now! (curse you Jairus and Virgil! ) Actually, I won't have any problem going back but, I will probably have one going on while I am doing shiny ones too. I did the weathering with the artist pastels and it was pretty fun. The shift knob is one of the single-barrel carbs from the 'banger in the kit. I don't have a lot stockpiled yet, but I'd still call that resourceful. Alright, enough chit chat, here's the pics:
  21. I thought so... Yeah Tamiya's dark blues are hard to photograph. I did a Golf in their Dark Blue Mica, and It looks black in almost all lighting situations. When the sun does hit it though... Look out!
  22. Excellent! Love the paint. Great detail too. I saw the build thread but I'm lazy... whose paint is it?
  23. Wow, You got me this time! I have been saving the pics on my Mac and taking closer looks at them there. I was too impatient this time! That Indy car was another tough one, but I could research that one. This is 1/8th scale, isn't it?
  24. Looks great, Mike! I'm ready to jump in it and burn a few 9 second passes.... Can't wait to see it too!
  25. Good job on the paint! What is the base color? Trucks always look sweet dumped and yours is no exception. Keep 'em coming!
