  1. Good job! Was this one a pre-painted kit or a regular one? I picked up one of the painted ones for cheap because it was hot pink. I'm repainting it some colors to better suit my taste. It is nice to see these built (even a kitbashed one )and not just used for parts. I can't count how many other models I see the wheels and windshield used on!
  2. Nice work, Harry! I'll bet you're surprised that I like the GTI, huh? I wish I could do even close to that, but I seem to do a lot better with 3D art. I really like how you drew the wheels about 2 sizes too big! Now if I could only find a 1:1 set of 16" bottlecaps!
  3. Thank you for posting some CARtoons covers Jairus. They brighten my season. Also a big thanks to Dave for the two links he posted. I only had one copy of CARtoons when I was growing up and its gone. I know it was near the end becuse I couldn't find any after I lost the one I had. I love George Trosley's work and this fills a void. Happy Holidays, everyone!
  4. I don't know why, but they look the same size here! It's probably just me. Maybe I need my eyeglass prescription updated! I was thinking something in the Pegasus line, nothing specific comes to mind right away. I also didn't think about the theme build either. The 'Stang wheels do tie in better for that. It's all good... I just have ideas for one I can build my way. That's what's great about this hobby. One person's build can ignite a whole raft of ideas in another person for their future builds without building the same car with different wheels.
  5. I've been meaning to comment on this one for a bit now.... Just haven't had my thoughts collected. I love the seamless integration you pulled off here. Everything looks super. The only thing I would change were it my build, is the wheels. They don't look quite right to me. I would do a big and little set. Don't change it on my part; just some input, thats all. Overall I love the idea of new tech in old car. This one has it in spades.
  6. Great build! I was another one who followed the build thread. I never heard of a Cheetah until this year. That's funny because I am a car guy from early childhood. I could name every car on the road from a very early age. Oh well, I haven't been able to do that for years now, so it doesn't matter anyway! They sure do look sexy though. They also look like they could level out a balance scale with a paper weight on the other tray! Any idea what the 1:1 weighs?
  7. Me likey! Looks ready for a street race! I like the underside of the hood. What did you use? Great pics too. I also think I see a popsicle stick fence in the background; I dig it. I need to make up a couple of bases for display and photography purposes. Keep up the good work!
  8. I love it! perfect color, perfect wheels, perfect stance, Perfect! Oh yeah, a big block doesn't hurt either...
  9. Thankfully I quit before I gave the extra 40 years to tobacco. I only smoked for 12 years, but it wasn't any easier to quit. I did it cold turkey and I have been without one for 10 months now. What surprises me is how much willpower I really have! I enjoyed cigarettes A LOT and didn't think I could do it without help. In fact, I guess you could say I did get "help" in the form of this hobby. I wouldn't be here if I didn't quit smoking. If I had enough willpower to do it, anybody does. I hear you, Bob, on the "habit" of having a smoke certain times or places in the routine. I haven't been in a bar for 10 months due to all the smoke. (still legal in PA) I think I'm ready now. While the smell still can ignite a craving, the bars are overkill and winds up turning it off. As for the original post... I've had plenty of my hard earned belongings stolen from me in the past by so called "friends" to better fill their wallets. None of them were addicts looking for a fix. They were just thieves looking for an easy target. I wish I could relate to the situation but I've never been there...
  10. I don't know about others but I actually buy the magazines to read them. I would love to see that in MCM. Pics are great, but I have been reading since I was four and it is something I love to do. That is why I won't subscribe to the "other" mag; not enough to read. It seems each issue gets worse and worse......
  11. Very well done! From the perfect paint to the flawless fit and finish, this one is tops! Keep up the good work.
  12. Another beautiful model! This one is fantastic too. I love how your doors fit nice and flush when closed on your builds. Your attention to detail is top notch. Any close-up engine pics of this one?
  13. Super work! I love the dime for the steering wheel. Is it a 1932 coin? Are the seat and dash painted brass? I also love the barefoot gas pedal. Again, great work!

    Lotus Europa

Great job, Randy! For those who have never seen one of these 1:1 cars, they are incredibly low. Their footprint isn't much bigger than an old Mini and about half as high! One of the weirdest sights in traffic today. I've never seen the engine "room" on one of these and from the model, I wish I had. Yours looks fantastic. I love the interior too. Boy, you sure are turning out a lot of high quality builds lately. I quit on trying to keep up!
  15. Absolutely beautiful, Jerry! Good to see you here, too. I've seen your work in the magazine and I must say, it's top notch. Hope you like it here and thanks for sharing.
  16. MMMMMM MMMMMMM tasty!
  17. Ahh! I have seen pics of that kit's box before. That blew some cobwebs out of the memory! Is that currently available anywhere? I just got a re-pop of the Fujimi MkII Golf last week from Tower. Did they re-pop the MkI too? If so, I'm gonna have to re-fill the 'ol Paypal account! Thanks for the pics, they tell me a lot about it. I've been trying to find any MkI kit for about 9 months and just haven't had much luck.
  18. Here's some more pics. This one shows that line I was taking about: Here's one more front 3/4 shot: Here's some interior shots, but they're not so easy to find. This one is a detail of US instruments, but I doubt you can see that on the finished product! This one shows the seat material used on many years. I think I've seen something similar in decal form somewhere.... The dash in this one is '79 and back, but the seats didn't change much. Later ones had vertical stripes in the center sections. Those are a lot of great pics KK, but the ones of the MkI's are all US market cars. Only one of them is old enough to have the Euro front clip. The taillights are also a bit different on our market cars from '81 up. I'm just trying to clarify any questions that might come up; not trying to be rude or anything like that. I'm just a stickler for detail, and this is a subject I know well. James, if you have any more questions I'll be more than happy to answer them.
  19. I need to find some interior and engine shots yet, but here are some front and rear 3/4 views of a couple: This one is a genuine British market car. It's also bone stock. These next two are US models converted to Euro market specs. If your taillights are smaller than this it's an 80 or older. This one isn't 100% accurate because the rear apron is supposed to have a fairly pronounced lip right under the taillights the whole way across the back. Whomever did this one didn't get the Euro sheet metal, they only got their hands on the lights. This one also has a motor transplant, but being a Fujimi, yours is a curbside I'll bet. Your kit should be a Euro market version, so I won't bother with our market's model here. The biggest site devoted to VW's on the net is VWvortex I'm trundling through the MkI Golf/Jetta forum right now digging for some accurate interior shots for you. If you don't know what to look for, you'll get lost, for it's a BIG place! Oh yeah, do you have a pic of the box to post? I could tell you what year the boxart is depicting at least. I also have never seen a Fujimi MkI golf yet.

    Willys Gasser

Good job! I like the headlight covers and the grille. The color is perfect period correct too. Any interior shots?
  21. Even though I'm a newbie to the hobby, I have seen Ted's work before. Unbelievable! Yeah, "smoooth" is a good word for it. I can just see this thing driving around Gotham City with Bruce Wayne behind the limo tint. Excellent work.
  22. Not sure how I missed this thread, but it ROCKS! Mike, those are some great pics you got there. I could use all you want to post. I am having a hard time building anything but rods for a while, so post away!
  23. Very cool Tudor. I just finished a Phaeton and I'm doing one of those next. These rats are addictive, aren't they? I can't wait to see more of yours.
  24. Beautiful! I can tell that is 10 years old because no one did "dirty" traditionals back then. It seems that they were all shiny ones. Doesn't make me like it any less, though. I picked up a few old SAE mags over the weekend and one of them is from '98. It has a truckster on the cover that is just as shiny as yours. I think I am going to build it as a 10yr old barn find one of these days...
