Basically, I copied these from a real car. I just used thin siver wire, bent to shape and cut small pieces of wire insulation for the nuts and painted them silver.
Model Car Garage has photoetch for the 68/69 Nova and for the 70-72 Nova. They were done about 3-4 years ago for the AMT kits, but they fit just fine on the new Revell kit.
Lloyd doesn't usually restore muscle cars, but he just couldn't resist doing this one. American mags with MOTION center caps, correct side pipes from a Revell '70 Chevelle, resin L88 hood and , of course, a 427 under the hood. Paint is Krylon dark red which approximates garnet red.
I use washes of water based acrylic paints, like Polly Scale or Testors acrylics. These are flat paints. Used watered-down metallics, browns, dark grays, etc. depending on how grimey you want it.

Actually, I should have used the Hurst shifter from the Revell Chevlle kit also, but it's too late now. The model isn't going to Salt Lake anyhow,,,
Those wheels have been in the Revell '32 3-window and Speedwagon kits since 1996.
Not much is glued yet. It's just sitting together. The hood is resin from I think PSF Hobbies. It was meant for the AMT Nova but I added material to make it fit the Revell kit. Wheels are from a Revell '32 Ford.
Made shackles for the traction bars.
Cut out and reversed the incorrect gas tank.
Interior is done with a tach and scratchbuilt shifter plate with a reverse lockout lever.
Still have various details to add to the engine. Engine is from a Revell Yenko Camaro. I'll use the flyeye air cleaner from the Revell B-M Chevelle kit, along with the sidepipes from the same kit.
Coming along very nicely. GREAT job on the vinyl top.
I'm doing a B-M Nova also. I'm using the side pipes from the fairly new reissue of the Revell B-M '70 Chevelle.
Even though there is a slight scale difference, the pipes "look right". I'll take some photos.
In the meantime, yours is really looking good.
I REALLY like this one. Keep a close eye on it at the September Showdown. You wouldn't want it to,,,uh,,,,disappear. GREAT job on the woodgraining. Looks just like wood to me. Hope you are feeling better and able to get around a little better by now. At least if you have to be laid up, you can get a lot of cool street rod models done.
