  3. NEXT WEEKEND. BE THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. No I wasn't,,,,,,,,but I am definately as OLD as those guys.
  5. You guys are almost right. First, it is NOT a model club, as stated above. The history of the first NNL in Ohio, was documented by Tim Boyd in an issue of MCM about 2 or 3 years ago. Maybe Gregg will see this and tell you what issue it was. Mark Gustavson, in the 1980's tried to put together a very serious judged model car contest in Salt Lake. He invited the very best modelers from around the nation and the world to attend. This was going to be the very best of the elite in the hobby. If I recall, only 3 people responded to his invitations. He later wrote a somewhat angry ediorial piece in Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine calling the invitees the national luminaries of the hobby who will remain nameless. A few good modelers and friends in Ohio decided to meet the next year in one of their garages just to show off their latest builds. They called themselves the National Nameless Luminaries. The get-together became an annual thing, just to look at each other's work with no competeion of any kind among them. They outgrew the garage and their "little get-together" grew into the National NNL in Toledo. Eventually a theme or two was added each year and by people's choice, a small award was given out for the most votes in the theme(s) category. Many more NNL's started up around the country as non-judged modelling events, also with an annual theme. Today, the Toledo NNL draws about 800-1000 models and some of the best car modelers in the nation. The largest NNL in the world is NNL EAST, drawing at least 1000 people and 1500-1800 car models. And there's your history lesson for today. kids.
  6. Ron Dressler made an exact replica of his friends custom Corvette. A different kind of deuce - Gary Sutherlin's '32 Chevy 5 window resin body. Jeff Young's ( I think ) in progress Valiant. More pics here: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...eeting-5172008/
  7. Pay no attentipon to Cruz. We haven't taught him to count in ENGLISH yet! We had 230+ payed attendees and 469 models displayed,,,,,,both numbers almost exactly the same as the previous 3 years.
  8. Oops! Sorry. I just can't remember all these things, especially being dead on my butt the day after the show. Congrats!!!!!!
  9. Now that our (MAMA) silly little event is over, I will now be pushing the Street Rod Nats East model car contest. Please note that even if you are NOT into building street rod models (because of some mental deficiency or because you believe that street rods are akin to devil worshipping), there will be awards for "1949 AND NEWER" categories. In addition to the cool plastic that's going to be there, the Street Rod Nats East is the second largest gathering of street rods in the nation, second only to the Nationals. If you are within reasonable distance of York, Pa. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS ONE!
  10. Gary won the people's choice for STREET MACHINE with his killer green VW
  11. John, YOU WON the replica stock award. I told you not to leave so early. Let me know if you are going to the regular MAMA meeting next Saturday and I'll bring it to you. Your 1/12th scale Camaro was the car that won.

  13. Jason, I read that article years ago. PLEASE READ IT AGAIN. There were NO COPO 427 Novas. All '69 Yenko Novas were SS396 cars. Don Yenko transplanted 427's into them. The last few went out with the original 396 still installed with new wheels and stripes. The '70 Yenko Deuce was a COPO car. They were sent to Yenko from the factory with Corvette 360HP, 350 c.i. engines installed. Yenko added the hood tach and the stripes and wheels, if desired.
  14. Motion did several cars other than Camaros. They even did Impalas. They could be built by Motion any way the buyer wanted. Stripes were not required. Several 427 Novas were built. (Even Joel Rosen doesn't know how many, but probably less than 50.) There were no 427 COPO Novas in '69 or any other year, that I've ever heard of. Chevrolet will only admit to COPO Chevelles and Camaros in '69 but, to date, three 1968 COPO Camaros have been varified. One of the three '68 Camaros is a Yenko car. The car pictured by Dave appears to be a '69 based on the rear sidemarker light. The aftermarket "427" front sidemarker light is a '68 style. No way, from a picture, to varify that it is, or isn't, a real B-M car. Your right about Ed Cervo - he is the hands-down authority on Baldwin-Motion cars. Dave - Reps & Mins has those exact Chevy dog dish caps and Model Car Garage has the complete photoetch sets for 68-72 Novas. BTW, the color is Butternut Yellow.
  15. FINISH UP THOSE MODELS!!!!!
  16. Thanks for the great pics.
  17. Nice review. This is nitpicking, but I just want to point out that a '32 model B simply indicated the '32 Ford with a 4 cylinder engine. Therefore, there is no such thing as a Model B frame or Model B grille shell. They were simply '32 Fords, with the same frames, grilles, firewalls, fenders, suspension parts, etc. etc. I believe the V8 models were designated Model 18's.
  18. This is REALLY NICE! And I'm not even a Mopar guy. Great job Karl.
  19. That's exactly what they are. They were mastered by Rik Hoving.
  20. You can also email Norm: replmincomd@aol.com
  21. Okay,,,,,technically I didn't say they were Revell '37 Ford pickup wheels. Otherwise, you would have to sit in the corner for an hour for not reading the captions.
  22. Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. make a Vickie body and interior that drops right onto a Revell kit.
  23. *Special guest, Tim Phelps, will once again be with us doing his flame-painting seminar. *vendors include, Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. Historic Racing Miniatures, Drag City Casting, Model Car World, Bradleys Model Car Collectibles, Craig Holler, many kit and aftermarket supply vendors. * Special memorial table with about 100 models built by Harry Charon, who recently passed away. *Food *Door prizes *13 trophies awarded by people's choice, and we're still calling it an NNL *Sore feet *Sore backs *Empty wallets * Grumpy wives ( nobody TOLD you to bring her!) AND SO MUCH MORE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  24. Another '32 Ford,,,,what a surprise. Here's my inspiration from the wonderful photo albums of DAVE LINDSAY. I combined a Revell roadster cowl with an AMT phaeton body, made body mods, where necessary, and dropped it onto Revell fenders. I'm using '37 Ford pickup wheels, thinned from behind to open the slots. Bare Metal Foil trim rings and valve stems added. Using much of the tudor sedan interior parts so I had to fill the door lines and scribe new ones that match the body. My phaeton kit was one of the older issues so it had the front bench seat, but i had to match the other pleated parts so i grafted the patterns from 2 Speedwagon rear seats. Gonna have a small block Chevy.
  25. The '69 Novas are now due to ship on June, 27, 2008. I got this info yesterday from a major kit distributor and saw his print-out from Revell.
