Just entered the arena. So far, the block is assembled along with the heads, valve covers and water pump. They have all been painted. Body has been primered. Planning on copper as the color. Stay Tuned...

I was going thru some of my built ups and came across this interesting piece. She was built about 20 years ago. I thought this one needed to be brought up to date, So... You gotta take it apart if you want to redo it... Inspired by something I saw on Bitchin' Rides. The wheels are from one of those Big Time toys. The colors will be a tribute to one of my favorite beers. Guinness. Stay Tuned...

To get the wheels to pose I cut some tree pieces and made like a keyway on both pieces so they would fit together Then I fit the pieces together then drilled a small hole straight thru both pieces Then I drove a paper clip into the hole Then slid the new knuckles into the back or the wheels Then mounted the free end to the chassis This build is now complete and Under Glass

Finally finished up the AMT/ERTL '64 Impala. This car was painted about 20 years ago. I like to work on 2 cars at once for some reason so when I was finishing up the '64 Dodge I pulled this one out of its box and started cutting on the doors. The first car I cut on was the '56 Bel Air and I got frustrated because nothing was lining up. So I figured I'd give it another shot. This one turned out a little better. I don't really know anything about the paint other than it was a lacquer. The interior color is duplicolor plymouth red. I built the kit pretty much box stock with the exception of the engine wires and plumbing and the wheels and tires and the exhaust tips. I also cut off the molded in headlights and replaced them with some I found in the parts bin. She's not a show piece but I love her the same. It was a little challenging getting the front wheels to pose but I overcame it. You'll see this in the workbench thread.

Very Nice super clean build.

Brilliant

Almost there... I found that my hood is warped so I'll have to heat it up to see what I can do with it. I'm not entirely happy with the grille. I want to scrape off the phony molded in headlights and add some clear lenses. And I also want to fill in the area between the seats and the doors and add a sill plate. Maybe bring down the tail pipes (they are molded in) Stay Tuned...

Nice finish, very clean!

Very nice. Dont let it be another 2 decades for the next one! What color did you use for the body?
-
Very convincing! How did you make the broken glass?

Simply stunning! Love the color, finish and stance. Those wheels are perfect for this build!

Funny you mention it, I glued the dash down and then test fit the interior and had a problem closing the doors. The door cards were hitting the dash. So I removed a little from both sides of the dash and a little from the kick panels. Then covered all the exposed with red interior paint. You can't tell.

It's all good David. Thanks for the complements! Got the interior installed and included some speakers in the kick panel. They were donated from a diecast. Got the door closed in and made another wheel change. These are a 2 piece wheel and I don't remember where they came from. I've had them for more than 15 years. They were from my lowrider days. Sorry for the bad pictures. Home stretch, stay tuned.
