  1. nice, Pico what's your current go-to printer ??
  2. Remember - fuel tank placement was a huge challenge for early rear engine GP car design because cars had to race with race distance fuel until - when? - the end of the 3 litre formula era ?
  3. Time to check the fit of the fuel tank - so far - so good - the 24th scale body shell is relatively thick - about 1 1/2 inches - that effects the shape and make-pretend capacity of the tank - but thats ok …
  4. Super - when you began this journey - bet you didnt think you would complete it with 3D printed engine compartment fenders and bulkhead !
  5. With the nose removable you’ll still be able to peek under the tank to see the footwell features, suspension, radiator and oil tank detail -
  6. The main fuel tank on the 18 was mounted saddle style over the driver’s legs - team Lotus tanks were full length from the instr gauge bulkhead forward to the radiator - with cutouts for the oil and water hoses …
  7. Between the footwell bulkhead and the radiator is the oil tank - which has a taper - the taper directs air exiting the radiator down and away from the nose of the car - early aero - designed by Lotus by instinct -
  8. BJ - the Rev’s Collection in Naples - world class - the buck is for a Scarab sports car - they got one of those too …
  9. The 18 radiator had a center section for water that was flanked by two smaller oil radiators …. As usual - Evergreen strip and short sections of H strip for the brackets at the base …
  10. The Joker kit has an insert for the radiator - this needs modification since the nose will be removable on this 18 …
  11. here's the ZF trans on a GT40 display engine at rev' Naples ...
  12. The Tam scriber tool served me well for years - but don’t be afraid to splurge on their scribing tools with thinned blades - the ones that need to be inserted into handles or holders - they are really good …. Hope J Keeler takes a peek at this …
  13. “cant wait to try 1/24th”. …
  14. Good news bad news curbsides will hide the eng detail but you'll be the only builder with an eng cover that actually fits properly onto the body work - trust me on that one - thats the good news and by the way - if you are not too far along - the Penske yellow had a light pearlescent finish - subtle - but visible in bright sunlight ...
  15. Gracias AMF Pierre - what size solder balls did you use on your build …. Which car was it ?
  16. So after all of that excitement (it doesn’t take much to excite me) I’ve got the correct gear box and with a little filing - I’ve recovered the correct 4 inch [96 in] wheelbase … now back to the engine mounts ….
  17. Have to remove the flexible rubber donut joints used in the GT40 - but these will find a home on the Lotus 25 - and just make those left and right odd shaped side plates …
  18. The printed Mad Mike ZF box is super - but really hard to get - and it is buried in the tail of the Lotus 38 - won’t be visible - can’t make the tail removable - so my Plan C is to use a resin casting of the ZF created by LeMans Miniatures in their great 24th scale GT40 Kit -
