R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
gbdolfans replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sad to hear this.I met him when he and Muhammad Ali were filming the movie"The Greatest" He played Angelo Dundee and Ali played himself.I met them when they were filming the water cooler scene where there were two of them, one for each race. This was done in Morningside Park in Miami.I always wished I had the smarts to get them to sign something.Oh well,I at least have the memories. -
How long should I wait
gbdolfans replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I buy and sell on E-Bay.My feedback is 100%. He should refund the entire price to you and since it was his mistake,If he wants the kit back he pays postage. If he does not do this, continue with your case with Paypal. This is just my opinion. I get very tired of people trying to sham other people. He should learn something with this transaction, but,I don't think he will. Most sellers want to keep their good feedback score.I know I do. Before you bid on an item, check the sellers feedback score and look at their feedback page to see what other people say. -
Wife says Model and I know better to say otherwise!! :D She enjoys this game and spends about an hour looking at it trying to figure it out. This has given her more respect for modeling!!!

Hi guys, I have a couple of Tamiya F1 kits and in the instructions for the paint color it says this"X-18:1+XF-63:1" What does this mean?? I guess this is meant to mix colors, but, how??? Thanks,George

MPC '67 Vette coupe?
gbdolfans replied to Bartster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey Bart,I am in the process of building the Night Stalker version.I have changed the color to bright red. I was fearing painting over the black, but,I used the Tamiya white fine primer, then painted it red using the Tamiya Italian Red and it turned out GREAT!!! I am waiting for it to gas out to spray the clear coat now. All of these are rattle cans, not airbrushed!! Hope this helps!!! :D -
Any one know anything about clocks
gbdolfans replied to vintagestang's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know a lot about clocks, but,If you were going to restore it for yourself only, then do it!!! If you were trying to restore it to sell it,most collectors of vintage items want it in the condition it is in now. They want the patina on it and might not like the way you restore it.You might just clean it a bit with soap and water but nothing abrasive. Just my 2 cents worth!! :D -
Thanks guys for taking the time to respond to me.I tried the Photobucket editor and find it works GREAT!!! Thank you Casey for letting me know about that. Thanks to all with their suggestions.I found another photo site called Picasa 3.It seams to be fun to work on this one. It stores your pics and is very easy to edit them!!! Thanks again guys!!!! This is a GREAT forum and I enjoy being a small part of it. George Bluhm

Hi,We have GREAT photographers here and they shoot their models all the time. I used the Testors One Coat Lacquer on my '55 Chevy. It came out a color my wife says is closest to a Burnt Orange.I have tried everything to take a pic of it and can't get the right color. It photographs with more red than it has.I have tried shooting indoors with the flash and without.I have also tried shooting outside in the shade and in the sun with and without flash.I get the same thing. Both of us see the same color and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what I can try.I want to post pics here when I can. I do not have anything like Photoshop to alter the color. thanks in advance for any help, George Bluhm Oh by the way,I have a Nikon Coolpix S6100 camera.

My wife says model so that got my vote!!! This one is really hard to tell,Harry is making us more nuts than we are already.

Digital camera download question
gbdolfans replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Jim,I use a Nikon Coolpix S6100.When you buy the camera,it comes with a CD to install on your computer. It has a program called Nikon Transfer on it.When you want to load your pics from camera to computer, just plug USB from computer to camera, hit power and it will upload what you have shot to a folder(I use My Pictures). Then you can do what you want with them. Hope this helps, George -

Some Old War horses from days gone by ( OLD Builders )
gbdolfans replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Cars
Bill,Thanks for posting these!!! I remember building the Vanke kit many many years ago.You did a much better job on it than I did!! You should really think about redoing them.you could probably sell all of them on the Evil site,as there are a lot of people buying the old kits built or not!! -

Chrome trim or painted trim?
gbdolfans replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks to all for your suggestions.Yes,I will try BMF,but,I don't want to use it on this one. Patrick,I will look into the marker and see how it looks on a scratch piece. I may just have to use either the paint or marker and live with it. I do not build for contests, only for my own enjoyment and pleasure. again, thanks to all of you for your comments!!!! -

Chrome trim or painted trim?
gbdolfans replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was just asking to see if anyone has done this or if anyone has heard of it being done??? That is making the trim body color. Bill, that is an idea I did not think of.Thanks!! -
Hey guys and gals,I would love some opinions.I am working on the Revell '55 Bel Air hardtop. It is the one that has the Goodguys logo on it and comes with the soda tray with sodas.I painted it with one of the One Coat Lacquers and it looks great. The best paint job I think I have done. I know most of you use Bare Metal foil for the window trim.I do not have this and have not tried it.I usually use Model Master Enamal "Silver chrome trim".It satisfies me. The question is should I use the paint or leave the trim,"Body Color" to match the body.I know bumpers and grilles are painter body color, but, what about the trim around the windows. I will try the foil in the future, but not now. I really want to thank all that reply in advance!!!! :D I will try to post a pic later today or tomorrow!!
