Jeremy, I had to go back twice to make sure this wasn't a 1/12th scale kit! The level of detail you're cramming into just the engine compartment is unreal, throw in the beautifully done under-hood work, and the accurate opening doors and you have a true masterpiece! I can't wait to see what this beauty looks like once it's all done!

Tony, that is one of the nicest AMT '64 Impalas I have ever seen, I'm sure your Uncle would love it! Awesome work on that engine too!

I've used Keith's decals for this kit, and if you're going to use them for the tail lights, you need to remove all the detail from the tail lights them selves, and then sand the back sides down so they sit flush in the housings. Once you do that, the decals look great. If you try to apply the decals over those tail lights without modifying them first, you'll get a quick lesson in how badly molded those things are! Flattened and thinned kit tail lights.... And the Keith Marks decals applied. It's a bit of work, but it looks good when finished.

I also got my issue today, and I had no idea I even had a subscription! My lovely wife Pam, after our trip to the Carolina Classic NNL, remembered me saying I could never find the magazine anywhere, and four of my models were photographed at that contest. So being the great wife she is, got me a subscription for our anniversary! Yup, I've got a great wife, I love ya Pam!

Beautiful color Paul, and a nice, clean build! What did you use for the seats, and how did you get it on so cleanly?
-
Tim, if you can only get one, grab the Comet, it's got the best 429 ever made in it! And you really got a good price on the Javelin too, I wish i could find one for $32.00!

If you're going to take a shot at replicating Slow Burn, I'm definitely gonna be watching!

Now that is the true definition of sleeper! I love the yellow fenders and doors with the worn-out graphics, and the popped open side window is a great little touch!

Scotty, the paint is gorgeous, awesome engine details, everything looks great!

A Jo-Han Javelin kit will get you in my good graces.... -
Welcome to the forum Adam, you picked a great kit, I've got one myself. And most of us build cars from the era we came up in, it's cheaper than building the real thing! Build what you like, ask lots of questions, and above all, have fun!

Wow, I was right? Thanks Bill, now I'm gonna start hoarding all the 18 Gauge wire I used to throw out at work!
-
Simply gorgeous Erik, that baby looks like the real thing!
-
Great start so far Doug, welcome back to the hobby! The scratch-built sway bar doesn't look bad at all, it may be slightly large, but unless you have some 18 gauge wire around, it'll do the trick. I'm not even sure if 18 gauge would be in scale either, but it would be a bit smaller...I'm gonna have to try some!

You know I'm gonna be there for sure Gary, more automotive classes this year too! And I'm also going to be over the judging for the automotive classes, so I get to show these guys how to judge cars as opposed to Military guys telling them what to look for! -
Nice build Tim, I love the monster Ford motor in there, it's just right! The first '32 I built used the same rims and tires, mine were from American Satco, and I wish I had bought ever set I saw, those are some gorgeous rims and tires!
-
Great color, and the paint looks perfect!
-
The one with the Z'd frame looks great, I want to do one like that now!
-
I'm with you, for a street machine, the rims just don't quite fit. What did you use for the spark plug boots, they look good on those valve covers!
-
Lawrence, I've got to agree with Harry, foil does bring a model to another level. You've got good looking paint, the rims look right at home on it, foil would only make it look better. Give it a shot on a spare body, practice until you feel comfortable with it, then try it on a painted body. BTW, what did you use for the heater hose, it looks great!

Thanks for the link Casey, now to look for some goodies!
