  1. Very cool. Great stance and paint work.
  2. Updated pics! As you can see I have distressed the painted surface to go with my theme, the Millenium Falcon. The hood has been altered for the carbs and painted an off color. The body has been treated to a black acrylic wash to bring out the areas where the primer is revealed and the door & trunk lines. Some primer on the rear quarters show where rust had set in and some repair had been needed. These pics don't have the interior cup in, so pay no attention to the body sitting on the rear tires. I will be griming up the engine a bit and adding some dull coat to the chrome trim. Really enjoying this one.
  3. Good info. I'm thinking about the Bonneville racer options and the tires offered just won't get it done. By the way, this kit really is everything said about it, but the slotted mags are very well done. I bought one today to build as a quick box stock build for contest.
  4. Whoa! I love it. I gotta get me one of those.
  5. Groovy!
  6. Lovin' this!
  7. Well done sir! That looks outstanding!
  8. Class? We don't need no stinking classes!
  9. Very original. I'm intensely curious to see this come to life.
  10. Great info guys, thanks very much. I really only needed the info so I don't look silly putting decals from Cragar on the car.
  11. Thanks both of you. I needed both types of info.
  12. Any idea on make and model? Any help is appreciated.
  13. First off a big thank you to Erik Smith who provided this unmolested replacement body. The damage I had done to the original trying for rusted out holes, was considerable. So here's where I started last night. After these photos I took some 1K grit sandpaper and started in on the body, sanding until primer started to peek through and then eased up. I have now a very thin paint effect like you might get after removing surface rust. The hood is mismatched in a dark red and black. More pics tonight.
  14. Quite right Ace.
  15. Guys, It's time to resurrect this thread. I have this one back on the bench. It will be less crusty, less rusty but it will scream '70's BEATER! Big fat nasty rear wheels, nose down rake, tunnel rammed Ford big block. It's even got a theme, which as you may know is what I really enjoy. Here's a hint. "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
  16. Once again, you are gonna put a big smile on my face each time I check the thread. Looking forward to this.
  17. Image the taxes due on that?
  18. If I might make a recommendation? Leave it as is. IMHO, you should have a representation of where you started. Where your modeling skills began improving. This way you can see how much you have improved over time. For me it's this MPC '67 Charger. It is terrible in the extreme, but this is where I first started taking building seriously. Someday I might build the same kit, the same way, but I'll never rebuild it. It is still one of my favorites, despite how bad it is. I would give that GTO a little polish and call it good. But that's just my $.02.
  19. It's not unusual to not get many (or none) replies when it's in the mock up stage. We get lots of those. Show us some work, like you have, and you'll see more interest, like you did. I'd also like to know where the paint came from and what form it's in. The paint looks real smooth, are you airbrushing? I'd also like to offer you some building suggestions if you are interested. I'll take it to PM if you want.
  20. Going with the wheel wells butchered idea, maybe some sort of 4-wheel drive? Not necessarily a monster truck, but a mud vehicle. Maybe something post-apocalyptic?
  21. Usually enamel is chewed right off. Your dip might be old. In any case, sand down to the primer in five or six spots and let the chemical attack the primer. The paint should slid right off after a while.
  22. Wow, that looks great.
