Monty, my dad hasn't built in 30 years. It's been all I can do to get him to even build right now. He's had surgeries on both arms/shoulders over the years and his hands shake a bit. His confidence isn't real high right now, I doubt he'll be wanting to share the work. But I'll let you know via PM of any issues he has. Shoot me a PM if you want to discuss further. Speaking aesthetically pleasing engines- the Mopar "Sonoramic" Cross Ram Wedge the Ford Y-block the Chevy 348/409 For ease of working on and general reliability- The 225 Slant 6, hands down.

I don't know, if this was a mob run area, he could have been "taken care of".

Monty, Bruce sent me a PM, he said the top went on pretty well, but the area where the top meets the body sides needs some massaging. Honestly considering the age of the kit, that's more then we should hope for.

The one thing that I always think is missing from the Concours type shows is hot pin-up babes. Yep, too many old guys in hats and not enough babes in stretchable fabrics. Just my opinion.

Bruce! Haven't seen you around here in a while! Nice work on that conversion! Excellent color. I just picked this kit up in a trade. How well did that El Camino roof go on? Gimme the straight skinny because I'm fixing to give this one to my dad who specifically wants to build the El Camino phantom version.

When I'm not in a building mood or have the time to dig into one it's time to start planning ahead. I have about 40 odd kits that are not parted out and I want to build. When building isn't convenient a planning session is in order. I grab a kit and hit the internet looking for ideas and inspiration. I open a desktop folder and all pics and other stuff go in there. Once I have my idea, I start planning the parts and paint. I go over the parts in the kit and see what I'm going to need. When you see me in the WANTED section (frequently lately), I'm looking for parts for a future build. At least this way, when you don't have the inclination or time to build, you are still involved in the hobby and for most of us a bolt of inspiration is all it takes to get the juices flowing again.

Ron, although we do have a group of world class builders here, the majority of us are in the beginner to intermediate range. And like you we are all here to improve our skills. Builders of all levels are encouraged to participate on this forum in any way. As for detail, you add as much as you are comfortable with, or just built it straight from the box. The important part is that you have a good time and do the best work that you can. Christian, I'd planned to join in with a rebuild of my old roadster, but just realized it's based on the old Monogram kit. I'll have to see what I can dig up.

Ditto. Also I haven't bought a new kit since the AMT Double T kit was released a few years back. Plenty of other kits to keep me busy.

With all the "buggies" running around this forum lately I may have to drag my Barris T Buggy out.

I have only built one model kit more than once, and no plans to do so again in the near future. So any model I finish would be in my favorites list.
