  1. Jim, according to this schedule the model room and vendors will be closed on Saturday after 2pm or so, until after the awards ceremony. I'm not going to even get there until 2:30pm, are they seriously closing the doors in the middle of the day? http://www.ipms2012.org/Schedule/schedule.html
  2. Ditto. And although this is exceptionally well done, I sorta feel it was a waste to do that awesome conversion and then rust it all up. Man, that would have made an aweome hot rod.

    Looks fantastic! Great colors.
  4. Those kits were one of my favorites when i was a kid. I've wanted to build one again for a long while. Nice work. I like it alot.
  5. The one model I have done this way the headlights are behind some mesh and wouldnt show off too well. However another benefit to trying this is that its water soluable if you dont like it.
  6. That is a groovy looking Stang. What year is it? We have a pretty good Mustang crowd here that can probably help you with a kit. As for the wheels, I'd peruse Pegasus Hobbies and see what you can find.
  7. LOL, no. The wife and I spent a LOT of time on those games. Were we addicted? Yeah, I think so.
  8. From what I have read, you must be an IPMS member just to enter the contest, for $50, regardless of how much of the convention you are there to see. Anyone else can get in to view the model/vendors for $5. Jim is involved with the contest, I figure if I was wrong, he'd have set me straight. And yes, I am going to attend. Just not to compete.
  9. I have used some Elmers glue with a little white acrylic paint mixed in to good effect.
  10. I'll be there Saturday around 2pm.
  11. I was an MMO player for a long time. Lately (the last six months or so) though I have been able to get that monkey off my back and stomp it dead. No more gaming. Too much time spent and nothing to show for it. Not to mention it made model buying hard to justify to the wife ....... and myself.
  12. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
  13. You'll be easy to find. I'll just find the one having a shiny vs. rusty argument with Virgil.
  14. Yep, I'm going on Saturday, just not competing.
  15. Okay. I see your issue. The engine certainly needs to be pushed back. In most rods, you can just barely see the bell housing between the engine and firewall. You are going to have to modify the chassis (likely) and tranny hump (certainly) to get it to fit properly.
  16. Oh man, I can certainly sympathize with Al on this, I was the same way for a long time. I mean, why build something to look bad on purpose! For me its a matter of degrees. A point where it goes to far, from hot rod to .......junk. I like patina ................. rust, not so much. I appreciate well built rods. When I see rats slapped together by some guy with no welding experience past high school shop class, with metal grates for floor boards and other questionable safety issues, I really get pissed. But when someone does it right, I love it. Its a style that thumbs its nose at convention, both modern and traditional schools of thought. Having said that, that goes for 1:1 rods only. In scale..............anything goes. Models are a reflection of how a 1:1 has, could, should or someday will look. All though in Ira's case, I'm not sure thats true. It's art and as such cannot be judged like a real vehicle.
  17. My thoughts exactly.
  18. Great kit! One of my all time faves. I'm looking forward to this. Great work so far.
  19. Find a smaller lense will that fit all the way inside with the inside of the lense facing out. Foil that and then place the clear lense over.
  20. Man, I'm glad I didn't do drugs like that. Looks great Jim, I'm looking forward to seeing your stuff on Saturday.
  21. I want one that makes the fart sound from the spaceships in the old Flash Gordon serial.
  22. Really cool Ira. How about building in a tire rack into the body where the '59 doors are, on one side and perhaps a tool box on the other? Just for some functionality.
  23. Oh yes. That's what I'm talking about. I've always loved satin black. Well done.
  24. Thanks guys, I will check those out.
