  1. Alyn, I really am torn on the paint. If it is weathered it will be very mildly where the flat paint has been worn to the primer in areas that get handled a lot.
  2. Yes, it shares the same chassis and running gear. The front tires are a little tooooo small for my taste and it comes with only the Ford small block.
  3. Okay with a big thanks to Ace-Garageguy, I now have a big block Chevy for this ride. After some test fitting, some frame stretching is going to have to happen. I'll add about 4 millimeter just aft of the motor mount. The wheels and tires are painted and ready. The rears wheels are from the Boot Hill Express, the fronts from the '53 Stude and the spinners from the Revell '40 Ford pick-up. I think they match up nicely. More soon!

    What if...?

As much as I admire your work and your general good taste on designs I think you've jumped the shark with the Charger. The Charger is perfect in it's original design.
  5. Very cool. I love everything about it.
  6. It's get worse every year as I get older. But wow. I went out this morning to paint some easy chassis stuff, just from a rattle can. Silver, black, bronze. The semi-gloss came out flat, the flats came out so flat they are two dimensional. I cannot wait til we get our own place and I can do this stuff indoors with my booth.
  7. I think this is going to look fantastic. Can't wait for a mock up.
  8. Just look for a chubby guy with bird poop on his shirt. They are flying around the house just fine. No lessons needed.
  9. Sure have and found some! I should have them soon and I'll start planning out the 'ol Tom Daniels Street Fighter '60 Chevy for this CBP.
  10. Love it! How about adding the bumperettes from the AMT '49 Ford?
  11. I've done something similar with just a bit of white acrylic added.
  12. Try Pegasus Hobbies online.
  13. When is the latest you can drop off models?
  14. I'll be back in this CBP if I can find some decals. Anyone have the Model King reissue of the '50 Austin gasser? I need the "Night Moves" door decals for my '60 Chevy! *EDIT- FOUND SOME.
  15. Yeah, nice work. Hopefully you'll stick with it after your contest.
  16. That goes for me too. Beautiful work.
  17. I understand your insurance frustrations. But the fact is ................. odds are you will be in an accident before you are 20.
  18. Okay the website says Aug 8 (Wednesday) through the 11th (Saturday). What day is the contest? What day do models get dropped off? I haven't been able to find this info.
  19. Some people grow up in Chevy families. Ford, Mopar whatever. For me........Studebaker. Back in their heyday my grandfather, uncle and my dad probably owned eight or nine of them. My folks drove us around in a '65 Canadian built Commander Wagonaire for years. The Avanti for me has always been a love/hate thing. I love everything about the car......except those wheel openings. The shape of them throws me in ways I can't describe. I have a dismantled old build up of one that I get down every now and again and start to fiddle with.......but I just can't seen to find a wheel/tire combo that makes that wheel opening look good. I will be buying this new kit though and build it up for my dad.

    48 Woody

If I can make a recommendation? The weathered paint sort of looks rough like it has been sanded. If you wipe it down with a little 60-70% rubbing alcohol it will feather out some of those rough edges and make it look less rough and more like wear over time.
  21. I'd just put in the wanted section. I had a bunch of unwanted kits I put up for trade last year and had the Starfire in my wanted kits list and was lucky enough to get one.
  22. I've got an old build up of this AMT kit disassembled and I've though many times about doing something with it, but man I just hate the shape of the wheel openings.
