  1. Looking outstanding!
  2. Safety either apparently. Sounds like a beast though.
  3. I've been in a bit of a slump lately with my some of my other builds so it's time .........to start ANOTHER!!! And I think doing something low pressure and ultimately forgiving as a rat rod. I've had this one in planning stages for a while now and after seeing Alyn's excellent '40 Ford I figured the time is right. It's going to be a gasser-esque street freak. It's a little challenging as it's 1/24 but I'll get by. I'm still puzzling out the the power plant but I'm leaning towards the double blown hemi from the Stude kit or a nice 409 from the AMT '57 Chevy. If anyone has some other ideas, I'm all ears. I'm going to add a straight front axle but I'll likely use the kit supplied rear end. The wheels and tires are from a Boot Hill Epress junker. More soon.
  4. Thanks very much. Any one got one of these older chassis?
  5. Whoa. I have been missing out. That is some serious building! The amount of detail just floors me.
  6. I have set my DVR to record this. There has always been something that captured my imagination, something primal about the batmobile. It is the end-all be-all of automotive coolness. The Burton batmobile will always be my favorite.

Very cool. Parts box builds are often the most fun because it feels like there is less invested.
  8. Yeah, he's liable to hurt himself and the car racing on those balony skins. Tractions gotta be terrible and handling too.
  9. It's okay to be a perfectionist, but I find those kind of people are often the most unhappy because it never turns out to their satisfaction. I know this for a fact because I am one. I'm dealing with some it-doesn't-look-like-I-want issues right now with my Jolly Roger Merc, '49 Shoebox, and '53 Stude. So I'm in a bit of a funk now building wise. The only relief I get from this is building a rat rod or beater where perfection is never the goal but rather the opposite.
  10. I was perusing my 1/24 Revell '37 Ford Coupe kit (Goodguys version) today and I find it comes with an optional mono-leaf and straight axle front end. The mono-leaf has some serious arc so it's obvious it was intended as a gasser-style set-up. However the parts are not mentioned in the instructions, nor are the mounting points obvious on the chassis. Does anyone have an earlier version of this kit where the parts are recognized and perhaps show me a shot of the chassis? Thanks.
  11. I'm not sure if its mechanically correct, but I used a shortened AMT '73 Cougar chassis under the Stang body and it worked out very well and is a much better replacement for that terrible promo-looking chassis.
  12. Thats a s cool as it gets. Well done.
  13. Well done Bryan. I'm diggin it.
  14. I have followed this build from the start. I've really enjoyed all the scratchbuilting, the imagination, the paint and all the hard work. Except the decals. I don't delieve they add anything to the build and don't really "fit" the theme of the build very well. Just my $.02. Sorry for the criticism.
  15. Some cool stuff going on here.
  16. Yes. Skinnie Minnie. I would measure and test fit and test fit some more and then I'd build/paint and then IT WOULD NOT FIT! I finally gave up on it. I have vowed to revisit the project again, but I will be starting entirely from scratch.
  17. Absolutely stunning! John you never cease to amaze.
  18. I really like this. Very much my style. Well done.
  19. I'm really going to enjoy this.
  20. I've seen pics of his collection for years, I'm sorry to hear the sad news.
  21. This sounds like a lot of fun. Since you are building two you get to keep one each. Good luck with these, keep us posted.
  22. Very nice work. Welcome to the forum.
  23. Looks like its the old MPC 1975 model. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-Duster-1-25-model-kit-MPC-never-opened-/290739451550?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b16bf69e
  24. But what sort of plastic do these things use? Will they take paint/chrome well?
