  1. Very cool project! Impressive work.
  2. From what I have read, Tarantino's use of each particular car, and other small details was to honor the classic films that inspired him when he was young. He wasn't trying to steal anything, just give people a "I remember that" smile. I think he did a great job making a fun old school film.
  3. I just put my first scratch built surfboard into primer. I'm very pleased with it. I'll have pics soon. However here's how I did it. 1. research the dimensions of the type of surf board you want to make. 1 inch will equal roughly 1mm in scale. So a 10 foot long board would be 12 decimeters long in scale. 2. find a good pic of the type of board you want. Copy/paste into your favorite paintshop type program (MS Paint will do) and resize until it is the desired size when printed. Cut out the image and use as a template onto some 2mm sheet styrene. 3. I used tin snips to quickly cut the blank out of the 2mm sheet. 4. after that it is just shaping. Sanding sticks from your local beauty supply store will do very well for that. 5. Rear fin(s) was made from 1mm styrene sheet approx 10mm high and long, roughly shaped like a shark fin. Your average surf board is about 3 inches thich. However when I cut a blank out of 3mm styrene it seemed out of scale so I did one from 2mm and it looked better. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.
  4. Okay, in no particular order. 1951 Fleetline resto-mod on a Revell 67 Chevelle chassis. 1969 Riviera lowrider with 57ish Buick side trim. Original batmobile using Viper chassis, Predicta body and top half of Black Force snap-kit. Pro-touring 67 Mustang The Blue Suede Duece Low-rod 65 Lincoln w/Viper V-10 and that's all I have to say about that.
  5. One wonders if Mercury be headed towards this treatment as well. Lets face it, Mercury has been in a coma for about 20 years.
  6. Yeah but just imagine the momentum you'de build up going down a hill.
  7. I just tried Tenax for the first time. I needed a good liquid glue to join the rear fenders on my 40 Ford PU because there really isn't a decent mounting point between the two, just the side of the fender and the bed side. I figured any other glue would leave a visible mark somewhere under the fender that would be visible. I got the tenax and a syringe applicator. It worked perfectly, wicked down the joint before it evaporated and made a perfect invisible bond. I am now totally hooked.
  8. Model, paint, munchies? You got everything you need pardner. Take your time and have fun.
  9. The best kind.
  10. Isaacson06, Ryan has a link to his weathering technique right in his signiture line. I'm here to tell ya, it's good stuff. Ryan, you know I'm paying attention. Good work as usual.
  11. I used this site for the research shots for my Cherry 2000 Mustang. It was very helpful. Great site.
  12. Nice work. How about some engine pics?
  13. Remember the Mopar "cab forward" design? It made for lovely car designs, but it was absolute hell to work on. I couldn't even change the serpentine belt myself. I was able to do plugs and fluids, that's it.
  14. I've been a MM customer for a long while now and have always been happy with the prices and service. It's practically one-stop-shopping for a hobbiest. I'm glad they are on board..
  15. This is very impressive. Great attention to detail. I can't wait to see more.
  16. I'd check the IPMS website and find a chapter near you. http://www.ipmsusa.org/
  17. IMO there IS a point where chopping, channeling, and sectioning stops being about improving the look of the automobile and becomes about the builder flexing his bodywork muscles. I'm speaking in terms of 1:1 mind you. At some point the car stops looking cool and becomes a caricature of a car. That seems to have become a bit of a trend in some circles but it's not for me.
  18. That looks perfect. This is going to be a classic custom.
  19. Oh yeah...........I'm diggin' it. Can't wait to see more.
  20. The great thing about sites like MCM and others like it, is that it is multi-national, multi-cultural brotherhood of builders. God, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Budha, Vishnu or whatever diety you choose name as yours isn't a part of it because it sets people apart rather than bring them together. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-religion in any way. But I disagree with bringing religion into a hobby as international as this one. You only limit yourself. And that's not what art is about.
  21. Wow! She's double-wide ain't she? great work. I really like this. Very original.
  22. This looks great Fletch. Very authentic.
  23. I think you did a great job. As for your brush painting, do as little as possible. That is- spray can as much of the kit as possible. Double over some tape and stick things like valve covers and intakes to it for painting. Use sticky-tack putty and toothpicks for other stuff with convenient holes. Krylon is your best friend for this. I must have 25 cans at the house. All in all that is an excellent replica. You should be proud.
  24. No thanks pardner. I put on the stock fenders last night. It was my first time using Tenax when I did so and brother color me impressed. I have also begun scratching my surf boards last night, and I'm very happy so far. Pics soon.
  25. George, thanks for the ataboys. If you Google Tekwipe you will get several companies that supply these. Contec and ITW Texwipe are two such. I do not think you could find these at your local hardware store. Maybe a local friend that works in a manufacturing facility or machine shop could grab you some. They are VERY expensive. It is a tightly woven polyester blend that doesn't shed any lint. The markers I did indeed buy at Michaels. They were superfine fabric markers. I'm glad you liked the "mexicany" look. I did some Google Image research before I drew the pattern, to be sure that I did something that looked authentic. Check out my 40 Ford PU thread, I've started scratching my surfboards last night. Pics soon.
