  1. No such thing, fella. Driver to builder/mechanic- "What's that whistling noise from?" "What whistling noise?" "Everytime I turn into the wind I hear the flute solo from Aqualung!" (You young'uns will have to Google that one) Fantastic work. Definetly something that Ed Roth would appreciate.

  7. I finished this up tonight. The is the car from the classic B sci-fi movie Cherry 2000 starring Melonie Griffith. There are a ton of of scratch details and modifications. I used four kits, six cans of spray paint, six bottles of craft paint and lots of tube and sheet styrene. I learned a LOT during this build. The movie car was powered by a turbine engine, and I have faithfully recreated that fictional engine, but I cunningly disquised it as a 351C. I hope you like it.   8. I 've just looked over some of my latest builds and I realize now that they are all from fairly recent issues. Mold lines aren't bad, sink marks/injection pin marks are decent and flash is pretty much a non-issue. But man.........I'm in for it now. I'm starting a Monogram 40 Ford Pick-up from 1985. There seems to be more flash than actual parts. Huge injection pin marks everywhere! Gentlemen I'm here to tell ya, the good old days of modelling are right now.

  13. More done. The interior is near done. I'm not trying to faithfully re-create the interior as you don't see a lot of it in the film, but at least capture the feel that this is not your average Mustang. I finished the front bumper and winch. I think it turned out real nice.

  15. I'll agree with what most have said. I'm in a production facitity for one of the biggest companies in the world (J&J) and they have already laid off 80 in my facility and every last temp in the building. Production people are being spread out all over the facility to fill the temp slots as we are shutting down production lines due to decreased sales. They are doing this to keep the trained people in place for when the economy swings up again. Sounds like your company is trying to do this for you. Like Harry said, better to be paid less and have a job, than no job. Eventually things will swing back and things will go back to normal. The trick is to stay employed until then. However all that being said, it can't hurt to put a fresh resume' together and update your resume' on Monster.com.
  16. I have seen a tutorial for mexican blankets (using thread and masking tape) before and I'd like to find it again. Does anyone know where this tutorial can be found? Thanks in advance.
  17. I build my paint booth with a door. Finish a coat- gently close door. Wait fifteen minutes. Next coat, close door. I realize it's highly technical process, but when you get the hang of it, it seems to work well.

  19. Ah go easy on the guy. We all had these pipe dreams for our ride and we still do. Kev's just a vocal sorta guy and wants to talk about them, it's all good. Like the rest of us he will learn that reality is often quite different than our big HP dreams. And one more thing Kev, these guys are quite right about how it feels to drive big HP. I can freely admit it takes more skill than I possess to do so. I love speed as much as the next guy, but with that much power under your foot, it doesn't take much to break traction and then there is no telling where you'll end up.

  21. Hey some much needed updates on this project. I have finally completed the paint and acheiving the scorched paint effect I needed. Bumpers and winch are fabed and we are starting to get close to finishing up. A lot of trial and error went into the paint, but I'd say it worked out nicely. I have to finish up the interior, figure out how to do road grime/dust on the windshield/rear glass, final pieces on the front bumper, detail painting and then its time to start final assembly. I hope you like it.
  22. Boy, it would be hard to say what sort of HP that thing would make. I've heard conflicting opinions on what advantage stacked superchargers would make. Lets face it, if it was that much extra power every drag racer would be running them right? Also the engine block itself doesn't look that big, but it's hard to see clearly from this photo. Secondly, I doubt that the owner even knows. Or if he does it's a guess-timate. That truck doesn't look as though it drives much further than from the garage to the transporter rig and back. A classic trailer queen and THAT is a whole nother topic. It's fun to look at but I doubt it would hold it's own in a race against a REAL race car.

  24. The AMT Black Cat Cougar kit comes with two engine choices- one tranny. One engine is obviously the Boss 429. The other I have seen called a 351C or 429CJ by different folks. I'm using this engine in a project and I'd sure like to see this engine correctly identified before I put the build in a contest and get schooled by some rivet counter. I'm not Ford savvy enough to myself to correctly identify it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
