No idea what it is, but clearly there's not an original thought in the whole design.

What examples are those?
-
Very interesting.

The easiest thing to do it to do a simple copy & paste to this thread when you update the other. Takes like five seconds.

Also maybe lower the divider to make it easier to get things in and out of the rear area. I'll say it'll do. The official P2P rules require only a four point roll bar. This is a pretty low speed rally.

Yeah those are two ends of the spectrum. My "C" would be something like this. Or if we're talking fenderless, this is right up my alley.

Niko that's looking great. One of the nice things about the AMT 51's is that the door panels and back seat are separate parts rather than molded in like most of the kits of that time period. It will be very useful for this build. The roll cage looks terrific. It's going to be a challenge incorporating the roll cage and still keep the back seat area useful for storage. If I was going to race this for real I would absolutely build a four door, strange as it is to say.

Now that is pretty darn neato. I am loooking forward to seeing what else you bring to the forum. Don't be a stranger. -
1932 Ford Roadster: Channeled, Nailhead-Powered Early 50's Hot Rod
Jantrix replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in Model Cars
Well folks, now that's how ya do it. Take the very best period parts from some of the best kits, modify and assemble at a very high skill level. The result is what most would call the perfect period hot rod. It's got a great stance and perfect amount of channel. Great color choice. Clearly a LOT of thought and planning went into this build. Dennis you never let us down. -
CORRECT!

Now THIS is ridiculous!

After perusing many actual race cars I am seeing trunk racks that obviously didn/t have them stock. Correct. I have changed the rules. Lets try to keep them period correct. TOM! Happy to have you join us. Very happy with the amount of participation for this CBP.

This was my issue too. First off the tulip panel on a '51 Fletline is nearly non-existant so where to mount the hinge?. I intended to put a gas tank under the rear package shelf, but I just couldn't figure out how to do all that and hinge the trunk. So I think i'm going to load the back seat area and add a trunk rack with a spare tire and call it good.

Thanks guys. With most of the hard work done, I'm hoping to get more modeling done, especially this winter. Happy New Year to you as well.

I'm not a big fan of the square bodied Fords of that time frame, but that one sure has a lot of attitude. I like it.

WW III, the war on plastic.

A quick Google search will fix this. -
Yes, you can use an electronic ignition. However that document points out the mechanical is easier to repair should it be necessary during the race. I see nothing in that document that would restrict modern fuel filters or fuel pumps.

Hmm. Pretty sure loud exhaust is a jailable offense in Russia.

AMT '51 Chevy fender well fitment
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
LOL. That's what I thought. No one else has done it successfully either. -
Brilliant idea. I love it. I don't think so. Various versions of that kit call it a panel truck or van, but I don't think it is. I think it's a sedan delivery based on the coupe. If your research proves me wrong (like a vintage dealership manual or something) then I'll allow it. I've seen the vehicle called panel truck and sedan delivery on different websites. These are 36's in the photo but you can see the difference. Now you might be wondering why I'm being so picky about panel trucks and sedan deliverys. Simply because if I didn't it would stop being the Vannonball and become the sedan delivery Cannonball. Most people would vie for the sedan deliveries. Because of kit availability and performance options. The Van theme was very popular with our participants when we talked about it in 2017 and that's the run they wanted. Panel trucks were added to give a little bit of flexability (but not too much) to those who aren't into vans (like myself) but still want to participate in the run.

Due to the narrowness of this years theme, I'll allow the diecast, assuming it's going to be entirely dismantled, stripped and rebuilt. Not sure about future runs though.

The last time I built this kit I found fitting the front inner fender wells a royal pain in the posterior. They don't fit the firewall well, nor the radiator all that well. So. What order of assembly has worked well for those that have done this kit successfully? Glue to firewall before or after the interior is glued to chassis? After the chassis and interior are in the body? Any help would be appreciated.

That should work.

Gentlemen, thoughts on the diecast? We've never had one before to my knowledge. I'm okay with the AMTronic, as long as it can be called a can when it's done. Happy new year ya'll. Feel free to start when your clock strikes 12:00am.
