  1. On TV? It's the narrator from Curse of Oak Island. No question. Everytime he speaks I fight the urge to throw a brick at the TV. Instead I just mute it or fast forward.
  2. Great choice. The '53 Studes have a great endurance race lineage. Check out their success in the Carrera Panamericana. #121 is fine. Yer in ! Actually I said high water. And yes, you better be prepared, skilled and have your brown pants on for a swift water crossing.
  3. And they wonder why the USPS is losing money every year?
  4. Yes. She played the granddaughter of the old woman he rescues from the comancheros.
  5. You are quite welcome. I enjoy doing unusual racing subjects. LSR, Carrera Panamericana. So when I saw these P2P cars, building one was a no-brainer. But when I realized that there would be a real rally next summer I realized I could do a CBP to run concurrently and really make it fun. I've contacted the organization that puts on the rally and I'm hoping to find event coverage that I can add to the build thread to make this one a little more immersive and inspire people to finish by the end of the rally.
  6. Great choice Tom. All of the above is correct. Most any production minivan, with seats or without, would be legal. The Stang-Van, Vette-Van, Pinto-Van, Vega-Van and any other car based phantoms are right out. Folks there really are a lot of options. You just gotta look for them. Lots of resin. Jimmy Flintstone offers a panel truck body for the recent '66 Suburban. Just Google resin delivery van. Lots of ideas there. I will be doing a panel truck myself. Not really a van guy per se, and I was leaning towards sitting out this next CBR, but my wife came up with a very cool idea and I'm gonna run with it.
  7. I think being insprired and pushed to better work is one of the stong points of the Cannonball CBP. The supportive culture within the CBP even though it is a contest, is outstanding. For a long while, I've been a proponent that being eye catching at a contest, is just as important as build quality, when it comes to bringing home the trophys. Just looking at the past winners shows that innovation and out-of-the-box thinking will win when combined with quality workmanship. Ashley, outstanding work. The win is well deserved. Gotta thank Oldmopars too as he's unwittingly inspired (along with Dom Delouise and my wife) my Vannonball build. Expect a commercial vehicle from L&R Motorsports next year.
  8. Very nice. I like it a lot.
  9. Very often kit manufacturers mis-label cars. For instance, this is NOT a van. As for the Thames, I don't know if it's a panel truck or sedan delivery. I'm not gonna research every questionable kit. I'm gonna leave it to YOU to prove that it is in fact truck based and not sedan based. Do the research , come up with some facts, and tell us whether it's allowed or not.
  10. I have announced the winner of this years CBR in the Under Glass section. Congrats to everyone who participated. Looking forward to seeing what everyone brings next year.
  11. See you next year for the 2019 running of the Cannonball Run CBP. Our theme is Vans/Panel Trucks. I hope to see some new faces.
  12. I think this is also a great time to revisit past winners of this CBP.
  13. I'd like to congratulate DA_ASHMAN, aka Ashley Jones, on winning this years Cannonball Run. His remarkable and unique model pulled a record setting 39% of the votes. It's easy to see why. Please check out his Under Glass thread for more of this outstanding model. Congrats to Oldmopars for the most unusual Cannonballer yet built, his SD White Freightliner Septic truck in second place, and Fat Brian for his '77 Mustang II, in third place. Overall we had a great field of models, as diverse and unique as can be. Each worthy of an award. Well done.
  14. Like I told Mike earlier, when I saw that wicked paint job start to take shape, I knew we were in trouble for the Cannonball. A tremendous build.
  15. That really came out nice. Well done sir.
  16. Just FYI, I will opening the thread for the 2019 Cannonball or Friday, Dec 21. The start date remains Jan. 1st, but this allows those chomping at the bit to get their plans out there, post their starting kit, and chat over the holidays.
  17. Final Bump. This years competition ends tonight. I will announce the winner tomorrow morning. A big thanks to the excellent builders that participate in this CBP and make it so fun every year. Thanks also to the people that voted. This year we had the most voters of any run to date and it is greatly appreciated.
  18. Well that's a horse of a different color, isn't it? Not to start an argument with you, but if I had to take a swag on the reason for this modification, I'd say that it's because of the roof rack disrupting the flow of air into the air vent on the engine cover. This modification sort of creates a ram air effect, to maximize air into the engine at the comparably low speeds of the P2P. With the added benefit, as you point out, of keeping the intake well away from any water. On a side note. This car should point out that a car does not need raised suspension and truck tires to compete in this rally. This car did finish the race. 41st of 49 in it's class. When you figure the race is 5500 miles over 33 days, it's still something to brag about. If the raised ride height seems to be bothering you, as it is me to a certain extent, don't sweat it. Build it how you want to.
  19. To the best of my knowledge there is no high water fording. I've not seen any racers with this modification.
  20. Thanks very much Niko, Oliver.
  21. Nope. You are doing the '64 Plymouth right? What number are you going to use?
  22. Hand painted lettering. Very cool. I like it Chuck.
  23. I thought I'd bump this one to support the Cannonball Run CBP and the builders. Next year will be our 12th annual running of this CBP.
