Reissued kits

No great loss.? -
Kinda replicates the work of the original 50s customs. Great on the surface, horrendous underneath. Back then, it was mostly about getting to the end result, not about quality engineering. They didn't call them "putty sleds" for nothing. I remember reading a story about the restoration of the original Barris/Hirohata Mercury and they said that most of the beauty was puttied on, but most of the internals were crude at best. I have to give Jim Jacobs, Pete Chapouris, Boyd Coddington, Troy Trepanier and Chip Foose credit. They took metalworking to the next level - bodywork that looks just as perfect without paint as it does with it on.

Um, the 80s just called, they want their monochromatic, pastel paints back! ? -
Can anyone identify these rims.

Are you sure you have a Monogram kit? Monogram's never had holes for axles - just plastic pins. Probably have an AMT. And there are probably differences between the two. -

I like the way it looks weathered and rusty right now, but that's just me! -

I could have sworn the 454SS was out as late as the Racing Champion days (2002-2005), but I couldn't find any pictures to support that. -

Ahh I see, I've only used the aerosol can and I haven't left it soak too long (overnight) so maybe there is a difference. -

I have to wonder what had really happened that they lost all the Silverado tools? It seems they were available as kits not that long ago and out for quite a while, especially the stepside and SS versions. I stocked up on quite a few of them, so I'm covered. But, I could use a couple Doollies (?). Especially for the wheels. -
Probably - they did it last year. Notice the sales are concurrent for some items most likely to sell more during Christmas. Models, Puzzles, Art supplies, Wrapping Paper, Gift Bags, Paper Plates, Napkins, etc. Longer sales means more sales!

And BTW, don't put it in brake fluid either. Same problem will result. -

TAKE IT OUT OF THE PURPLE POWER A.S.A.P! And rinse it thoroughly, P/P will ruin the resin. Easy Off is the only cleaner that I know that won't ruin resin. -
I love this kit. Best '34 ever, and it was tooled 60 years ago! Why do they have so much trouble making one now? I wish Revell would restore all the deleted stock and cabriolet parts. Probably will never happen, sells too well as the ZZ Top version. Very inspiring build so far.

Maybe the roll under was too deep for the tooling design to release from the mold that way? Just a guess.

Did they even build 2 wheel drive Blazers originally? I thought they were all 4x4. -

Might be able to strip the paint off with oven cleaner and start fresh. Looks like the last owner didn't clean off the mold release before painting. -
Never Say Never about old kits. "New Era Modeling"

It does appear Okey Spaulding is trying to take 3D printing to the next level. I do wish he'd start with his old line, rather than investing in obscure low volume projects like the truck he's doing now. Why a Powell? Might as well have picked a '27 Porter or a Crosley? Many of Johan's now classic lineup would have triggered quite a few more "likes" than his current choice. A Javelin, 70 Rebel Machine, 65 Cadillac Deville or a 65 Fury perhaps? Then again, it might boil down to his ability to negotiate a licensing agreement with the 1:1 lawyers. -

That's exactly what Hasegawa did with their "American 66" line. They copied the bodies of four annuals and sold them as slot car or R/C cars first, then made them into static kits later. I suppose if it worked for them, but you'd still need to get licensing rights or else call the cars "Type A" or whatever. Not that that has been much of an issue here. -

At first, I was thinking you meant the 75 Roadrunner Monaco, but then realised you meant the Volare. I like the Volare Roadrunner, especially the Super Pak issue. -
Should've put them in Las Vegas.
