I bought the Dremel Stylus about a year ago. It is the greatest little tool for modeling I've ever used!! Small, lightweight and incredibly powerful for its size!! -
Questions About Taking Pics
Raul_Perez replied to Rudy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I 100% agree that natural sunlight is the best!!! Couple that with a good background, the right angle and depthe of field and you end up with very convincing photos every time. The only problem I seem to have with using natural sunlight is that it seams to be long gone by the time I get home from work... -
Very nice!! Makes me want to put the battery back in my Goldwing and go for a ride!!

Now that is what I call EXCELLENT craftsmanship!! That build is certainly worthy of a Best of Show award where ever you put it on display!!! There is no modeler that I know of who wouldn't be proud to have that excellent display of workmanship in their collection!! Thanks for sharing!! Keep up the good work and the posts!!

That looks like way too much fun!!! I also build SF3D models in the winter, many of which I've modified from their original design. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress!!!

Only one picture?! That's not fair!!! Come on Jim, let's see some more pics!! That thing looks awesome!!!

Scale Hot Rod Components

Mike, To the best of my knowledge, they are still catalog only. -
Another nice job, Raisin!! Keep up the good work and the posts!!

Don't stop now...you're on a roll!!!

No, just tell everone that they're properly orientated for maximum traction under severe braking!!! With that much horsepower, only the rear ones need to be directionally forward. The front ones are rarely on the ground!!!

Denny Crane, are you on this board, too??? Thanks for sharing and the time that went into putting that together!! That's too funny!!! And, from a fellow Republican, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too!!

Questions About Taking Pics
Raul_Perez replied to Rudy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, Rudy, I'm no pro, but I'll share with you how I do it. You be the judge, based on my results, to see if you want to try any of my methods. First, I use a small wooden base that has been painted to look like a small section of a parking lot and a plain white piece of poster-board as a backdrop. When I get time, I want to create a small, two sided garage scene just for taking photos. I use several, typically four 100 watt, incandescent lights around the sides and top of the model for lighting. I typically don’t use the flash. I find that the flash tends not to work well on close-up subjects. I also have a digital camera. Though it’s capable of seven mega-pixel photos, I typically set it at 1mp for photographing the models. I set it for close-up, (macro close-up mode), indoor photography and turn the flash off. To get decent clarity and focus of the entire model, I don’t try to zoom in too closely. For the typical ¾ shot, try to focus the middle of the picture on the windshield post where it meets the door and hood. With all of the editing software available these days, I find it faster and easier to get a good, clear shot of the model, then crop out what I don’t want. Being in a wheelchair shouldn’t impair your ability to get good photos. From my opinion, I don’t like to see photos, that in 1:1, would have been taken from a crane hundreds of feet in the air. I like the images taken at what would be just slightly above a normal prospective if viewing the car in a 1:1 scenario. I use a tripod set between 30 and 36 inches high with a distance of two-to-three feet from the model. The other thing I’ve found is that I typically delete almost all of the first series of photos I take because after I’ve viewed them, I find all kinds of little things that need to be touched-up, cleaned or adjusted. With that, I use the first series of photos to check distance, focus, clarity, preferred angles… So, give it a try and post your work for review. I really like seeing other modeler’s work!! -
Very nice, period correct build, and I like the backdrop, too!!! Are we going to see this one at the NNL West?
-
AGREED!!! There is nothing better than being involved with your children!!! Keep up the good work, the posts and have a Merry Christmas!!

Coming along nicely!! -
They're all awesome in their own right, but I really liked the blue on your 996 GT3!! And here's to another collection of great builds next year!!
-
Steve, Nice builds!!! I can't wait to see tham at the NNL West!! John, I'm all over that "getting too old" thing!! I've gotten to the point where I can buy myself a model one week and be surprised to find it in the garage the next week!! You wouldn't believe how many Revell 41 Willys kits I've accumulated this year because it's such a great model and I can't ever remember how many I have of each type!!!
-
Keep up the good work!! It's great to see the younger crowd building models of any type or kind!!
-
Very nice, clean paint and BMF work!!! I really like the blue buttons on the seats!! That's a nice touch!!
